The proposed antenna contains a rectangular feeding waveguide, which connects to a radiation cavity through coupling slots. Owing to the unique feed structure, an equal amplitude but opposite phase excitation is generated between adjacent coupling slots, making the metal walls in the rectangular radiation cavity unnecessary. Moreover, a metasurface-based polarization convert chamber is loaded onto the radiation cavity, resulting in an excellent circularly-polarized radiation. The proposed antenna works in K band (center frequency is 21 GHz) with the impedance bandwidth as well as the axial ratio bandwidth is 5.2% and 7.1%, respectively. In addition, the design of the proposed antenna has a remarkable effect on reducing the weight, showing a great potential for satellite communications.","PeriodicalId":117712,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th UK-Europe-China Workshop on Millimetre-Waves and Terahertz Technologies (UCMMT)","volume":"135 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124212576","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The radiation part is mounted on the ground directly, which is based on the magnetic dipole structure. This arrangement contributes to the robustness of the antenna. Surrounding cavity is utilized to improve the radiation performance. Sequentially fed scheme is applied to generate circularly polarized waves. The simulation results show that the designed antenna works well from 26 to 30 GHz. The radiation patters show low cross-polarization of below −45 dB in boresight with the peak gain of about 8 dBic. The axial-ratio is better than 3.15 dB within the beamwidth of 120°. Besides, good consistence of the radiation patterns on orthogonal planes is also observed.","PeriodicalId":117712,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th UK-Europe-China Workshop on Millimetre-Waves and Terahertz Technologies (UCMMT)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121313798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The existing adjoint EM sensitivity analysis methods have to solve large systems of EM equations repetitively for the entire frequency band. We propose a new adjoint EM sensitivity analysis algorithm for the fast frequency sweep using the matrix Padé via Lanczos (MPVL) technique based on the finite-element method (FEM) to addresses this situation. A large EM matrix is only solved at a single frequency to predict the sensitivity information for all frequencies. The adjoint EM sensitivity analysis using the MPVL technique can obtain the same accuracy as the existing techniques while taking less time.","PeriodicalId":117712,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th UK-Europe-China Workshop on Millimetre-Waves and Terahertz Technologies (UCMMT)","volume":"174 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116640562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper introduces current 3D printing technologies that can be used to produce metallic waveguide-based components. In particular, metal binder jetting (MBJ) is a support-free printing technique suitable for printing complex structures. This paper aims to discuss D band antenna-filter integration by applying the MBJ process. The manufacturing strategy is applied to the design and optimization of an asymmetric iris filter which is later integrated with a resonant cavity antenna.
