Yeh","doi":"10.1109/ICIT.2016.7475039","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ICIT.2016.7475039","url":null,"abstract":"The purposes of this study were to develop a high-speed milling system combined with an ablation path of the parallel lines and to investigate the cut quality on the glass substrates conducted by a nanosecond pulsed Nd:YVO4 laser (λ:355 nm). Experimental specimens were commercial Corning Gorilla glass with a thickness of 800 μm. Laser milling parameters including the laser fluence, number of milling pass, and scan speed of galvanometers along the processing path were adjusted for the profile cutting of the glass substrates. The laser milled depth, surface morphology, and surface roughness of the glass substrates after laser milling were measured by a 3D confocal laser scanning microscope. Experimental results showed that the milled depth outstandingly increased as increasing the laser fluence and the number of milling pass or decreasing the scan speed of galvanometers. The milled depths averagely increased from 38 μm to 107 μm when the scan speed of galvanometers decreased from 1500 mm/s to 300 mm/s with the laser fluence of 52 J/cm2 in a one-cycle milling process. Moreover, the milled depths averagely increased from 107 μm to 185 μm when the laser fluence decreased from 54 J/cm2 to 95 J/cm2 with the scan speed of galvanometers of 300 mm/s. When the number of milling pass increased to 5 with the laser fluences of 95 J/cm2 and scan speed of 300 mm/s, the Gorilla glass substrate was cut through a square hole. The edge of milled hollow square structures on the glass substrate had few of micro cracks, square angles, and steep and oblique walls around the milled boundaries as increasing the number of milling pass. This is particularly important for electric motors operating in offshore conditions, since they work in hostile environment which often damages data acquisition systems. Therefore, this paper deals with verification and validation of the extended Kalman filter (EKF) for sensorless indirect field-oriented control (IFOC) of an induction motor operating in offshore conditions. The EKF is employed to identify the speed of the induction motor based on the measured stator currents and voltages. The estimated speed is used in the motor speed control mode instead of a physical encoder signal. In addition, we utilize a stationary frame model of the induction machine to assess the fidelity level of the EKF-based estimation of rotor fluxes. The experimental setup is used to validate accuracy of the EKF-based state estimation and motor speed control. The importance of the current work is demonstrated on an example of a full-scale offshore drilling equipment. Real-world speed and load profiles sustained by the gripper arm of the vertical pipe racking machine are scaled down and reproduced by the experimental setup. Software engineering has been more focused on original development but it is now recognized that to achieve better software, more quickly and at lower cost, we need to adopt a design process that is based on systematic software reuse. Development of different cloud based software services are a challenging job when they need development with reusability. Reusability generally means reusing of a part of source code directly or after some modification. As all software services present in the cloud are a set of service components and the different versions of the services contains different component versions, the primary goal of this paper is to propose an approach to enable a large scale reuse across multiple systems and also to provide the flexibility to develop and evolve the system cost and time effectively. Considering such networks, synchronization is the first thing to secure against a possible malicious adversary. In this paper, we consider ARP poisoning as a possible technique to disrupt clock synchronization and evaluate the effects of such an attack on the IEEE 1588 standard. The Load resonant inverter (LRI) can be controlled to generate a quasi square wave of variable pulse width generated by digital signal processor (DSP). It is used to store the required commands for generating the necessary waveforms to control the frequency of the inverter through proper design of switching pulses. In this paper, a digital controller has been implemented which possess advantages of phase shift control while providing rapid frequency tracking for load resonant applications. The digital control algorithm has been optimized in Embedded C Language and implemented on a floating point Digital Signal Processor TMS320F28335. For high power applications, boost PFC converter operated in continuous conduction mode is usually employed. However, at high-line light-load condition, the converter operates in discontinuous conduction mode. This leads to erroneous input current sampling which results in low power factor (PF) and high total harmonic distortion (THD). Moreover, the effect of EMI filter capacitor causes the displacement between the input current and input voltage. This paper proposes a digital control method to improve PF and reduce THD by using the current sample correction algorithm, duty ratio feed forward for current controller and EMI filter capacitance current injection algorithm. The proposed fault diagnosis system consists of two sub-systems: fault diagnosis observer and robust threshold. By treating faults as disturbances, Disturbance/Uncertainty Estimation technique is used as fault diagnosis observer to generate residuals. Considering that residuals of model-based fault diagnosis are subject to the effect of uncertainties and consequently large false alarm rate may be resulted in, a novel robust threshold is then proposed based on reachability analysis technique for uncertain systems. The proposed fault diagnosis system is finally applied to the accelerometer and gyrometer sensor fault diagnosis problem of vehicle lateral dynamics, where initial states and velocity are considered to be uncertain. Such algorithms are based on the notion of distance between data points, often computed using Euclidean metric. That is why, clustering algorithms are mostly applicable to the data sets comprising of numerical values. However, the real life data often consist of features which are categorical in nature. For example, to identify abnormal behavior or a cyberattack in a network, we usually examine packet headers which contain categorical values such as source and destination IP addresses, source and destination port numbers, upper layer protocols, etc. Euclidean metric is not applicable to such data sets because it cannot compute the distance between categorical variables. To address this problem, similarity functions have been designed to determine the relationship between given categorical values. Similarity defines how closely related the objects are to one another. Often similarity could be thought of as opposite to distance where similar objects have high value, while dissimilar objects have low or zero value. In this paper we explored accuracy of various similarity functions using the Partitioning Around Medoids (PAM) clustering algorithm. We tested similarity functions on several data sets to determine their ability to correctly predict the class labels.
