ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) is one of the smart features embedded in vehicles, generally directed to assist in driving a vehicle and for safety, such as braking. The development of ADAS is the first step toward an autonomous vehicle system. The braking system currently relies on several detectors, namely Radar, LiDAR, and cameras. The current use of ADAS usually uses a radar system or the integration of radar and cameras. This article aims to analyze the impact of using ADAS in braking assistance with the help of a stereo camera as the object detector to know how much influence intelligent systems for ADAS in driving. Several speeds are compared to see the vehicle’s response and the effect of the applied speed with the camera properly. The results show that the speed response can be increased by 0.3 seconds to reduce the delay in the driver’s awareness response to identify the object in front of him. Furthermore, the use of a camera-based system as a tool in ADAS in this study can be used for medium speeds of about 50 km/hour.","PeriodicalId":115017,"journal":{"name":"2022 7th International Conference on Electric Vehicular Technology (ICEVT)","volume":"391 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121247774","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, it is impossible for the rider to determine the desired or required speed profile. The available modes, such as eco, urban, and sport speed modes carried by the motor controller firmware are not very self-explanatory. A Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) is a programmable device meant to digitize the throttle lever and bridge the communication between the throttle lever and the motor controller. Here we are, Quest Motors, developing both the hardware and software of the VCU. We have developed an artificial intelligence-based algorithm that will dynamically change the riding profiles based on the road profiles, the battery conditions, and the rider’s driving style, a major upgrade from the mere static modes (eco, urban, sport). This aims not only to further improve the vehicle’s energy consumption but also to provide the optimal comfortable driving experience for the drivers. The implementation of this method can reduce the battery pack’s power consumption by up to 10% through the adjustments of the speed profile, temperature, current, and various other parameters. Last but not least, the speed profile in electric vehicles which is usually in the form of a linear curve, is no longer the case. The algorithm will continuously learn the data it receives to generate the best speed profile for the particular rider, such as an exponential curve or a logarithmic curve.","PeriodicalId":115017,"journal":{"name":"2022 7th International Conference on Electric Vehicular Technology (ICEVT)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121287592","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This issue is known as range anxiety - people are reluctant to depend on EVs due to myriad reasons such as running out of stored energy, lack of charging facilities and the time it takes to charge. Much research has been carried out to address this concern; some propose combining conventional and electric engines for the best of both worlds, others propose strategically placing charging stations, and still others propose using algorithms to determine the best route for the vehicle. This research attempts to implement a simple current limiting mechanism for existing personal electric mobility (PEM) equipment such as electric scooters, which will track its onboard battery state-of-charge (SoC) and produce a new signal that controls the level of current provided to the motor. This can help to limit energy depletion from the battery and thus extend the scooter’s range. By using MATLAB-Simulink software, this study simulates a PEM and the current limiting mechanism. With the use of Arduino circuitry, this research involves tapping into the existing electric scooter to record and analyze serial communication between the user interface and motor controller, to limit the motor’s current and achieve longer range.","PeriodicalId":115017,"journal":{"name":"2022 7th International Conference on Electric Vehicular Technology (ICEVT)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126002780","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Range Extender was developed some years ago to fulfill new demand for electric vehicles that produce fewer pollutants to the environment, while the capacity of a battery is still limited to the range of energy that vehicles use to operate. Utilizing a Gas Engine has been decided to have less pressure on the combustion chamber and even less exhaust gas compared to the existing gasoline and diesel engines so that more light material can be used to produce such type of energy generation while the power and torque comparably similar. Final gas-engine development is to achieve not only a certain target of power generation conversion but also more compact dimension and less weight so that Range Extender can be manufactured for commercial purposes.","PeriodicalId":115017,"journal":{"name":"2022 7th International Conference on Electric Vehicular Technology (ICEVT)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128542258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The cathode is one of the electrodes that have an important role in ion delivery in lithium-ion batteries. Ni-rich Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) is one of the most frequently used cathodes. The increasing demand for lithium-ion batteries has also led to an increase in the use of nickel as a cathode material, so that other sources of nickel are needed. The use of nickel recovered from a spent nickel catalyst can be a solution for alternative sources of nickel. Spent nickel catalyst is one of the hazardous and toxic wastes, so this recovery process can reduce the amount of catalyst waste. Nickel is extracted from a spent nickel catalyst using the acid leaching method. The acid used is 2M lactic acid with various solid/liquid ratios. Spent nickel catalyst leaching was carried out at 80°C for3 hours. At the same time, the synthesis of NMC 811 material used the co-precipitation method with oxalic acid as the precipitant. Based on the results obtained, the variation of the ratio that produces the highest leaching efficiency is 20 grams/L. The obtained NMC material has high peaks at two theta 15-20° and 40-46°. The morphology of the NMC 811 material is agglomerated with a homogeneous shape and inhomogeneous size. Based on the charge discharge test on the battery, the battery capacity obtained reached 119 mAh.","PeriodicalId":115017,"journal":{"name":"2022 7th International Conference on Electric Vehicular Technology (ICEVT)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126641768","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Brakes are components that function to convert energy from mechanical energy into heat. The brake part generally generates heat when the braking process is active. The heat generated needs to release. One type of braking system with non-contact is the Eddy Current Brake (ECB) and regenerative braking. ECB is an electric braking system with the principle of eddy current. Overheating in Eddy's current brakes will decrease braking performance because of changes in properties. This paper will discuss how temperature affects braking performance. This research used the finite element method (FEM) as the method of the analysis process. The modelling simulates the braking process with changing conductor temperature ranges and analyses the resulting braking torque. An increase in temperature will result in a decrease in braking torque of up to 10%. Therefore, maintaining the temperature on the ECB will affect the braking performance in optimal conditions.","PeriodicalId":115017,"journal":{"name":"2022 7th International Conference on Electric Vehicular Technology (ICEVT)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134024912","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
