They are described by metadata allowing users (either authors or learners) to search and reuse these learning objects. The process of reuse is not so simple and requires some attention during the design phase. In our opinion, it seems clear that semantic metadata are required to allow a real reusing and assembling of learning objects. Following this principle we have defined a system based on three semantic models used to describe the domain, learners and learning objects. In this paper we investigate how to improve the design process of resources described using our proposal. For this, we propose two kinds of approaches: metrics and types. Using metrics, authors may have information about several aspects of quality of their existing resources. Types allow constraining the authoring process by defining constraints to be enforced by new learning objects.","PeriodicalId":113056,"journal":{"name":"Fifth IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies (ICALT'05)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129714011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, as Dillon argued people must agree that much of what we do as humans is driven by emotional and affective factors. There are many studies providing evidence that emotion can affect people's judgment. Since the interface design is clearly known, it will dominate a user's evaluation at first glance and influence the user 5 decision making while surfing on the Web site. Emotional factor certainly should be considered as an important cue when designing a Web site. This research will discuss the relationship between emotion and a user's attitude and how does emotion induce certain attitude on a Web site.","PeriodicalId":113056,"journal":{"name":"Fifth IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies (ICALT'05)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125479756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Learner modeling has become a highly challenging task to provide personalized, adaptive and context-based learning. The work presented in this paper addresses this issue by providing a meta-level solution for the description, transformation and matching of learner models, based on standards such as IMS LIP, IEEE PAPI, XML to foster the reuse and exchange of learner models between learning platforms, both by universities and corporations.","PeriodicalId":113056,"journal":{"name":"Fifth IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies (ICALT'05)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122301167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sharing of individual perspectives also helps students to converge to a common understanding about the subjects discussed. In this paper, we propose a collaboration model for learning geometry, where the combination of the approaches, (learning through experimentation and collaborative learning) provides a rich environment that allows interactions between a student and an object, interactions among students, or interactions among groups of students. This paper describes Tabulae, an educational tool designed to tackle the problem of teaching Math using DG and synchronous communication within computer networks.","PeriodicalId":113056,"journal":{"name":"Fifth IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies (ICALT'05)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116674479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
