The results revealed differences between the two genders in matters related to family-friendly policies and work-family balance. Regarding family-friendly policies, female managers were more interested in training related to welfare-caring services, parental leave and information than male managers. On the other hand, with regard to the balance between home and work, female workers tended to have a higher family-satisfaction rate than males.","PeriodicalId":112416,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Computer Sciences and Convergence Information Technology","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115831854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Concept of inventing this electronic stick is developed from studying mechanism to determine close range or distance between the stick and the obstacles – by means of some electronic sensing devices. Parameters that rate this sticks could be its size, and weight, i.e., its size and weight should be as same as that of the normal white sticks. However, its battery (utilization) time is also important. The battery of the stick should not be last before twelve hours when using it continuously. This paper studies techniques to reduce power consumption in electronic white stick. In addition, several batteries with different discharged rate were employed for determining utilization time. The results show that the proposed module of electronic stick consumed lower energy than the previous work and a NiMHC-size of 2,200 mAh battery is adequate for operating the stick more than twelve hour at any modes of alarming.","PeriodicalId":112416,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Computer Sciences and Convergence Information Technology","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132370218","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Relevance feedback (RF) has been proven to be an effective method for integrating the user’s knowledge into the retrieval process to eliminate the semantic gap between the high level semantic concept and the low level features of an image. In this paper we present a framework of content-based medical image retrieval with RF based on support vector machine (SVM). In the framework, we design two novel sampling methods, i.e., nearest positive margin sampling algorithm (NPMSA) and positive margin sampling algorithm (PMSA), which can select informative images to feedback to user; and we adopt 10-level soft label instead of 2-level hard label, which increases the annotation accuracy. The results of experiments on medical image database show that the proposed sampling methods, especially NPMSA one, both outperform SVMactive sampling method, and the soft SVM classifier based on the framework behaves better than SVMactive. The convergence speed of RF based on the proposed framework and the sampling methods is faster than that of SVMactive.","PeriodicalId":112416,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Computer Sciences and Convergence Information Technology","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133995365","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Finding these office documents in large databases that fit users’ needs is becoming increasingly important. Traditional search tools that employ keyword and phrase matching between the query and search index alone tend to offer high recall and low precision. The search users are faced with too many irrelevant results. In order to solve this problem, we propose a novel search system that effectively searches the target documents by the search query whose definition is based on the document type, search terms and the semantic relationship between the search terms and the target documents. We present a technique that collects search terms and their semantic relationship from the documents of some office applications to generate the XML-based search indices that can effectively locate the office documents. Furthermore, our query optimization algorithm is also presented.","PeriodicalId":112416,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Computer Sciences and Convergence Information Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130774504","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So, there are some real problems about nodes membership management in grid environments, especially, when considering asynchronous wide-area networks conditions, where messages may be delayed indefinitely and nodes may fail. Heartbeat detection is one of basic blocks to construct a reliable Grid system. Aim at the highly dynamic characteristics of grid system, a novel heartbeat detection method is designed to solve the Consensus problem and node management according to network changing. The results show that, on the basis of the algorithm implementation failure detector has better performance. Compared to other failure detector, ours is much efficient and dependable.","PeriodicalId":112416,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Computer Sciences and Convergence Information Technology","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131024191","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The event manager can capture and playback all events generated from the virtual hardware and the emulated S/W stack. While a legacy testing tool has focused on middleware and application layer, the proposed event manager focuses on full S/W stack.
