The participation of the Greek Catholic clergy in the creation and operation of the workers’ associations («Silskyi Hospodar» («The Farmer»)), cooperatives («Narodna Torhivlia» («The People's Trade»), «Dostava» («The Delivery»), «Khlibosoiuz» («The Bread Union»), the Auditing Union of the Ukrainian Cooperatives), private enterprises («Fortuna Nova»), financial and banking institutions («Dnister», «Carpathia», the Mortgage Land Bank), vocational schools (the Private Cooperative Lyceum in Lviv, the Ukrainian Husbandry Academy in Poděbrady, Agricultural Schools in Stryi and Myluvannia) and social organizations (the Society of the Ukrainian Artisans, Entrepreneurs and Traders «Zoria») has been analyzed. The clergy acquired and popularized economic knowledge and skills, supported the activities of private economic educational institutions; the Basilian Sisters organized a vocational school at the monastery in Lviv has been noted.\u0000\u0000Due to Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky’s initiative, the Greek Catholic Church in Galicia, possessing significant area of lands, managed to implement many successful economic projects and attract foreign investors in the interests of the Church and Ukrainian people has been established. Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky urged the Ukrainians to unite in unions, cooperatives, taught austerity, economic literacy and entrepreneurship so that Galicia could rely on the experience of the developed European countries has been noted.\u0000\u0000An important contribution to the economic development of Galicia was made by the General Administrator of the GCC lands, Doctor of Agronomy, Reverend-Mitered Archpriest Tyt Wojnarowśkyj, who wrote many economic works, participated in the parcelling of lands, initiated the creation of the parcelling society «Zemlia» («The Earth») has been emphasized. As noted, the first steps in analyzing the biography of the famous and reputable member of the Sich Rifleman, the State Secretary of Military Affairs of ZUNR were made in the 1920–1930s.\u0000\u0000It was during this period that scientists, social and political figures, and military associates distinguished the main thematic blocks of D. None of the European states defended the right of the Ukrainian people to create their own independent and united country. Declaring the ideals of independence and unity of Ukraine, established in 1922, the Western Ukrainian Society of the League of Nations (ZUTLN) had two important tasks. Firstly, to update the "Ukrainian issue" in the international arena, and secondly, to revise the decision of the Council of Ambassadors of March 14, 1923, and with strong condemnation of the Polish national and cultural policy in the first half of the 1920s. The study notes that in the early 1920s, the ZUTLN was almost the only emigration structure created by famous Ukrainian public and political persons to expand the international influence of the exile government of the Western Ukrainian People's Republic (ZUNR) to address the state status of Eastern Galicia. In 1922–1924, the ZUTLN defended the national and state interests of Ukrainians in Galicia in the international arena and promoted the idea of restoring Ukrainian statehood after World War I.\u0000The foreign policy activities of the society on dealing with the «Ukrainian issue» is analyzed. The efficiency of ZUTLN governing bodies, the activities of its representatives in the Union of Societies of the League of Nations (STLN), is characterized. Cooperation with political parties of Western Ukraine and a similar Dnieper society is emphasized. It was concluded that thanks to the ZUTLN leaders' efforts, the "Ukrainian" or, more accurately, the «Eastern Galician issue» was repeatedly discussed at meetings of the Grand Council and the Political Committee of the General Assembly of the League of Nations international obligations. The concept of «transnational history» is defined, and the difference between it and historical-comparative studies is explored. Also, there are presented the historical development of these concepts and their possible influence on the paradigm shift of historical research in the Ukrainian history of the 20th century.\u0000The author determined how using transnational approaches can influence the research of the Ukrainian liberation movement. For instance, the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations (ABN) in 1946 included more than a dozen national emigration organizations. The bloc was initiated by the Bandera wing of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, whose members through decades had developed the ideological doctrine of the unification of the subjugated nations and established contacts with national movements in the Soviet Union during World War II and, after the war ended, among emigrant organizations of Eastern Europe. In contrast, in their home countries, communist regimes were established.\u0000The author considered the history of the ABN – the Eastern European anti-communist organization of the Cold War – as part of a transnational anti-communist network. The criteria according to which transnational approaches can be applied to studying the history of ABN are defined. This is, in particular, the use in the ideology of the ABN of transnational concepts of «right of self-determination for nations» and «anti-communism», as well as, activities in the field of International Non-Governmental Organization – INGO. \u0000In addition, the author argued that the use of transnational approaches can also be through the historical period in which the bloc operated. It was during the bipolar world ideological confrontation that transnational ideas became widespread and non-governmental organizations gained influence, particularly in the public sector of Western democracies. This allowed the bloc to pursue active public activities among national diasporas in the West, actively using anti-communist slogans and thus appealing to the USSR and communist governments in Eastern Europe.\u0000\u0000Keywords\u0000transnational history, ABN, the Cold War, the Ukrainian liberation movement, Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists.

This organization began to be formed by the command staff of the Sich Riflemen (Sichovykh strilʹtsiv) of the Army of the Ukrainian People's Republic. It is gradually being joined by veterans of UGA and public and political figures. The organizational center was concentrated in Lviv. The material basis initially became the saved funds of the Sichovykh strilʹtsiv, in parallel, financial support was established from Ukrainian emigration to the USA. The fall of 1920 – the fall of 1922 was the period of formation of the command structure, understanding between the founders, a certain even competition for dominance and promotion of their vision of the development of VO. It was difficult to establish cooperation with public and political organizations of Galicia, state centers of ZUNR and UNR. The challenge was the ideological basis. What are we fighting for in Galicia? For the revival of statehood only in Galicia or on all Ukrainian lands. The command of the VO managed to preserve the Sobornytsky principles of activity. In mid-October 1922, the killing of S. Tverdokhlib, a Ukrainian, by members of the Military Organization, for cooperating with the Polish authorities, caused a wave of arrests. In connection with this, the head of VO Yevhen Konovalets was also forced to emigrate. This became a new challenge for the organization, because it was necessary to start organizing the leadership of the Higher Education Institution on emigration and establishing funding. There was no desire to stop at what had been achieved in 1922, but on the contrary, there was a desire to continue the struggle. Financial aid from Ukrainian emigration to the USA became more and more difficult to obtain. Yevhen Konovalets applied to the leadership of ZUNR to receive emigrant funds for the struggle. He believed that VO has the right to these funds. The leadership of ZUNR agreed to allocate a part of the money received from Ukrainian emigration to the USA for VO. In 1923, Y. Petrushevich, whose activities were subsidized by the Soviet government, began to allocate a part of these funds to VO as well. This information is represented in the documents of the Soviet special services.\u0000\u0000Keywords\u0000Military organization, Yevhen Konovalets, ZUNR (WUPR), Yaroslav Chizh, Yevhen Petrushevich, Ukrainian emigration.

Emphasis is placed on her role in the resistance movement against the communist regime. Her successes as an artist, the realization of creative ideas, her perception of Ukrainianness, the creation of a number of monumental artistic compositions, mosaics, and paintings are emphasized. Her opposition to the imposition of violent Russification in art for the affirmation of the Ukrainian national core is emphasized. Gorska’s role in the organization and activities of the Club of Creative Youth was noted, as well as its infl uence on the promotion of the national cultural heritage, in particular the Cossack Baroque, traditions of Ukrainian folk art at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. In addition, a huge layer of the artistʼs life is reflected through the prism of contemporaries memories and her own. An important source for studying the artist’s biography and creativity was her correspondence, which made it possible to better understand and consider the thoughts and emotional experiences of the owner of the epistolary at different periods of her life. It was found out that an important creative stage for the artist was her theatrical activity as a scenographer and designer of costumes and decorations, as evidenced by the memories of the artistic directors of the theater, artists and art critics. Considerable attention is paid to the records and stories of friends and relatives, on the basis of which the transformation of the artist’s views on the language issue, her transition to the Ukrainian language, and the search for Ukrainian identity in creative and social activities are analyzed.\u0000Also, the greatest attention is focused on the participation of the artist in the Ukrainian dissident movement. It is the first attempt to show the documents about the deportation of Hungarian citizens to the Soviet Union and to present the reactions of the local Transcarpathian Hungarian nation to the events of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, and it also highlights the actions of the authorities that were aimed at the purposeful total ideological control and thus influenced the formation of the general public’s opinion about the surrounding events.\u0000\u0000The main aim of the study is to show the deportations of the Hungarian revolutionists to the Soviet Union in 1956 through archival documents and to introduce the political leaflet distributor groups in Transcarpathia, which were formed during the Hungarian war of independence in 1956.\u0000\u0000There are archival documents containing different data about the behavior of the Hungarian population in Transcarpathia related to the Hungarian events. The documents also provide information about the punishments that concerned the Hungarian groups engaged in politics. These documents reveal that the political general headquarters in Uzhhorod had been operating for a long time after Hungary was invaded by the command of Moscow.\u0000\u0000It is possible to argue that the process of exploring the sources relating to the retaliation after the revolution of 1956 has not been finished yet, there are still hundreds of archival documents, mainly in Ukraine and in the former Soviet Union Archives, which still need to be explored. However, besides getting to know the real facts of the history of the Revolution in 1956, it is important to perceive that, despite the oppression, there were people in Transcarpathia too, who dared to be brave, to believe, and protest. And there were ones who paid with their lives for justice. Because of participating in the revolution, many people were arrested, sentenced, imprisoned, deported, and executed.
