In this paper, we investigate how CNF network architecture can be designed for efficient content retrieval for wireless mobile nodes. In particular, we look at Integrated Caching in which we assume each CNF router on the future Internet can cache contents that pass by and reply to content requests with its local copy. We name this content delivery method Cachingn-Capture(CC). We develop a mathematical model for CC to optimize the average content retrieval latency with limited storage on each CNF router. We propose Sequential Reassignment(SR) algorithm to solve the optimization problem. We compare the performance of the derived optimal solutions against our integrated caching and routing heuristics. The results show the Sequential Reassignment algorithm significantly reduces the average content retrieval latency by as high as 70%.","PeriodicalId":111317,"journal":{"name":"2010 The 5th Annual ICST Wireless Internet Conference (WICON)","volume":"24 13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127598125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multiple access interference (MAI) causes the performance of the conventional single user detector in DS-UWB systems to degrade. Due to high complexity of the optimum multiuser detector, suboptimal multiuser detectors with less complexity and reasonable performance have received considerable attention. A hybrid approach that employs a genetic algorithm (GA) and chaos algorithm (CSA) for the MUD problem in UWB communication systems is proposed. By taking advantage of heuristic values and the collective intelligence of GACSA, the proposed detector offers almost the same bit error rate (BER) performance as the full-search-based optimum multiuser detector does, while greatly reducing the computational complexity. The near-far resistance of the GACSA-based multiuser detector is also examined. The good behavior of the proposed approach is demonstrated by means of comparisons in term of bit error rate (BER) performance and implementation complexity with the classical Rake receiver and different multiuser receivers previously proposed in the literature on this subject.","PeriodicalId":111317,"journal":{"name":"2010 The 5th Annual ICST Wireless Internet Conference (WICON)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126518891","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These sensors consume energy for spectrum sensing and therefore deplete their life-time, thus we study the key issue in minimizing the sensing energy consumed by such group of collaborating sensors. The IEEE P802.22 standard specifies spectrum sensing accuracy by the detection and false alarm probabilities, hence we address the energy minimization problem under this detection accuracy constraint. Firstly, we derive the bounds for the number of sensors to simultaneously guarantee the thresholds for high detection probability and low false alarm probability. With these bounds, we then formulate the optimization problem to find the optimal sensing interval and the optimal number of sensor that minimize the energy consumption. Thirdly, the approximated analytical solutions are derived to solve the optimization accurately and efficiently in polynomial time. Finally, numerical results show that the minimized energy is significantly lower than the energy consumed by a group of randomly selected sensors. The mean absolute error of the approximated optimal sensing interval compared with the exact value is less than 4% and 8% under good and bad SNR conditions, respectively. The approximated optimal number of sensors is shown to be very close to the exact number.","PeriodicalId":111317,"journal":{"name":"2010 The 5th Annual ICST Wireless Internet Conference (WICON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129097215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the partial cancellation tries to reduce the cancellation error in parallel interference cancellation schemes due to the wrong interference estimations in the early stages. Thus, in order to reduce the computational complexity and improve the performacne of the CDMA system, particle swarm optimization (PSO), which has the ability of solution to complex combinatorial optimization problem, is employed in searching the optimal weight for multiple access interference cancellation. Experiments have been carried out on the method can improved on the multiuser detection in CDMA system, the simulation results show that APSO detector can achieve the global optimization in fast convergence rate, and also show that the proposed detector is obviously superior to convenentional receiver and multiuser detectors based on some optimum algorithm in terms of the multiple access interfere and the mitigation of near-far effect.","PeriodicalId":111317,"journal":{"name":"2010 The 5th Annual ICST Wireless Internet Conference (WICON)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122803798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a large-scale WSN, the multi-hop routing even deteriorates this traffic load imbalance by accumulating traffic flows along their paths to the sink. Understanding the traffic load distribution can guide the network-wide energy allocation, direct the design of routing algorithms, and optimize the node deployment in WSNs. In this paper, we consider a large-scale and dense WSN with nodes evenly deployed in a disk area, and find the traffic load distribution over the nodes as a function of their distances from the sink. Further, the effects of network scale and routing hop length on traffic load distribution are also investigated. The traffic loads of individual nodes are found to be in direct proportion to the radius of the network and in inverse proportion to the mean routing hop length, while independent of network density. The results presented in this paper are verified through extensive simulation experiments.","PeriodicalId":111317,"journal":{"name":"2010 The 5th Annual ICST Wireless Internet Conference (WICON)","volume":"105 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123992038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We consider a system of a source, a relay and a number of destination nodes, where the nodes can combine the signals coming from the source and relay. We are interested in the case that the source and relay only have the information of path loss and slow fading. The goal in resource allocation is to allocate resources (time slots, subchannels and power) in an energy efficient manner given target rates and target outage probability. Numerical results show that cooperative relaying requires significantly less energy than noncooperative relaying. Adjusting the source and relay transmission durations has a marginal effect on the performance, although it results in a significant increase in complexity.","PeriodicalId":111317,"journal":{"name":"2010 The 5th Annual ICST Wireless Internet Conference (WICON)","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127481841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current video transport techniques are already very advanced, and the more immediate problems lie in the joint optimization of video coding, AL-FEC, and PHY rate selection with the goal of enhancing the user perceived quality. In this work we provide an analysis of video broadcast streaming services for different combinations of layered coding and AL-FEC, using a realistic LTE PHY layer. Our simulation results show that the scalable content adaptation given by Scalable Video Coding (SVC) and the scheduling flexibility offered by the 3G-LTE MAC-layer provide a good match for enhanced video broadcast services for next generation cellular networks. Our proposed solution is compared to baseline algorithms and broadcast systems based on H.264/AVC streaming solutions. We emphasize the system quality improvement brought by our solution and discuss implications for a wide-scale practical deployment.","PeriodicalId":111317,"journal":{"name":"2010 The 5th Annual ICST Wireless Internet Conference (WICON)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126158801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the past, several schemes have been proposed to leverage this problem. However, these previous methods incur high deployment costs in employing countermeasure protocols. In this paper, we present a lightweight agent-based access control framework to counter MAC address spoofing threats. The proposed framework has four operating modes to run according to user needs of system performance and wireless security. Therefore, the framework provides much more flexibility in employing a variety of security protocols, and performance-security trade-offs. With a prototype implementation, the preliminary experimental results indicate that the proposed framework has only 20% performance degradation in burst packet transfer under the most rigorous security consideration, which shows the potential feasibility.","PeriodicalId":111317,"journal":{"name":"2010 The 5th Annual ICST Wireless Internet Conference (WICON)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125342189","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
