For this purpose information on stock indices of different SME equity stock indices have been sourced for the period October 1, 2012 to March 31, 2017. Moreover, the ratio of number of companies listed on the SME platform and the number of companies listed on the main exchangehas been used as a tool for measuring the depth of an SME trading platform. For studying the interaction between the Indian SME stock market and the international SME stock markets, the Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity Mean (ARCH-M) model has been employed. Findings : The study reveals that since its inception in the year 2012, the BSE SME market has been able to make a mark for itself. During the reference period, the performance of the market is impressive and much better compared to other international SME equity capital markets. However, international SME equity capital markets are more entrenched than the Indian SME equity capital market as measured by the ratio of number of companies listed on the SME platform and the number of companies listed on the main exchange. Regarding the interaction between the Indian and International SME equity markets, we ascertained that while volatility in Kosdaq and Chinext have negative impacts, volatility in Mothers and TSXV markets have positive impacts on volatility in BSE SME market. Moreover the impact of other two SME equity markets like, AlterNext and FirstNorth on BSE SME are statistically insignificant. We also ascertained that the BSE SME market is a risky market and the findings are statistically significant. Application/Improvements : Considering the fact that the BSE SME is in its initial years of growth and far from being mature and well entrenched, the policy makers in active coordination with the capital market regulator may take necessary steps in further deepening of the BSE SME trading platform. Further, it would be beneficial for the SMEs in India if the SME trading platform is developed as a multilateral trade facility (MTF) rather than as a regulated market. Sectoral analysis of companies listed on BSE SME can be an area of further research.","PeriodicalId":110506,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social and Economic Research","volume":"615 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115826710","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Micro finance through Self Help Group (SHG) has been recognized internationally as the modern tool to combat poverty and for rural development. Micro finance and SHGs are effective in reducing poverty, empowering women and creating awareness which finally results in sustainable development of the nation. The main aim of microfinance is to empower women. In this paper the role played by Microfinance in women‘s empowerment are considered into three dimensions namely psychological, social and economical. The study is undertaken in rural areas of Patna region. Both primary and secondary data‘s are used. Primary data is enumerated from a field survey in the study region. Secondary data is collected from NGOs‘ reports books, website, relevant documents. The researcher has used percentage method, simple correlation coefficient, paired t test and cross tabulation for analysis purpose. Analysis showed that there is a gradual increase in the all the three factors among rural women‘s. From the interaction among the respondents it is noticed that some members are expecting the NGO to come up with more training sessions in income generating activities. All they need is a way to develop their skills and talents by participating in various training programs. There is a definite improvement in psychological well being and social empowerment among rural women as a result of participating in micro finance through SHG program.","PeriodicalId":110506,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social and Economic Research","volume":"130 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134364599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It will also briefly examine the theory of comparative advantage which is seen as justification for global trade liberalisation under the auspices of the World Trade Organisation. This process is also associated with greater openness, economic interdependence and deepening economic integration with the world economy. The study is important because once again the international institutions strongly advocate trade and financial liberalisation in developing countries. The proponents of trade liberalisation argue that multilateral trade negotiations would achieve these goals, and poor countries particularly would benefit from it. However, such policies may increase vulnerability and make developing countries further hostages of international finance capital. Adoption of open market policies in agriculture would also mean the abandoning of self-reliance and food sovereignty, which may have wider consequences in terms of food shortages, food prices and rural employment.","PeriodicalId":110506,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social and Economic Research","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116802398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Directive Principles of the Constitution of India envisage provision of free and compulsory elementary education to all children up to the age of 14 years. Human development is predicated upon universal access to education, with its implications for equity and social justice. Further, Karnataka have been quite remarkable, and the state is moving towards universal literacy at a steady pace. Though there is a progress in the level of education, some of the regions are still backward. However, in the light of the above, it is pertinent to analyze the status of elementary schools in terms of its enrolment level as well as drop-outs at elementary stage. This paper has concluded that, Chamarajanagara is a backward district in both economical and educational aspects. Especially in education, it is very poor in terms of enrolment and education attainment. The main obstacle is drop-out to achieve the educational achievements in the district. But now, the level of drop-out in elementary school in the district is declining steadily from the last decade due to the government participation through the various policies and programmes.","PeriodicalId":110506,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social and Economic Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125506661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is very important for companies to know how to measure these constructs from the consumers’ perspective in order to better understand their needs and hence satisfy them. Service quality is considered very important because it leads to higher customer satisfaction, profitability, reduced cost, customer loyalty and retention. The main purpose of this study theoretically is finding out how applicable the SERVQUAL model is in the context of banks branch and empirically, describe how consumers perceive service quality and whether they are satisfied with services offered by these branch in Hyderabad. A self-completion questionnaire was developed from the SERVQUAL instrument and distributed using a convenience sampling technique to all bank service users to determine their perceptions of service quality in bank branch. From the analysis carried out, it was found out that, the SERVQUAL model was not a good instrument to measure service quality because some of the items under the dimensions overlapped and regrouped under different dimensions from the factor analysis carried out. It also showed some items associated to more than one component.","PeriodicalId":110506,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social and Economic Research","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127902326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

China has been growing fastest in human history, which has an impact on the global economy and also various challenges that China faces. China is seen as heralding a major shift in the international division of labour through changes in output and employment pattern. China is described as becoming “work-shop” of the world through the expansion of manufacturing production. Its impact on other Asian economies and also on the world economy would be enormous. China's rapid development within a short period of time has shown us one of the most striking phenomena in global economy, which was not experienced before. Market reforms and open to trade and foreign capital since early 1980s have unleashed their entrepreneurial energies. These reforms took place at a time when global economy was going through huge changes proved to be beneficial to China by increasing growth and in turn massive reduction in the number of poor people. China's development policies can be understood if we look through institutional economic perspective. This means that more attention is needed to look at the economic, political, institutional, historical and cultural context in which the economic development has taken place.","PeriodicalId":110506,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social and Economic Research","volume":"19 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123643385","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From launching of reforms until 2011, it did manifest some vivid and impressive signs of India moving towards high growth and increase in living conditions of its population. The purpose of this article is to access the likely effects of reform measures on the society, because the mainstream approach suggests that the reforms can be expected to increase economic growth and incomes. However, this study finds that the mainstream economists ignore the role of domestic aggregate demand and inequality. India’s growth was led by the services sector, which included real estates, IT, telecommunications and banking, and contributed nearly 50% to the GDP in 2012. Manufacturing, which experienced remarkable growth and transformation in the East Asian economies, had rather grown much slower. The agriculture sector, which still employs nearly two-third of India’s workforce, remains stagnant. The study suggests that education and health have been neglected in India and this will compromise productivity and growth.","PeriodicalId":110506,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social and Economic Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130397542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In explaining the insurgency movement, the essay attributes agency to two entities- the Indian state and the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Forced integration of J&K into the Indian union, erosion of the autonomous status of the state, rigging of elections, misgovernance and lack of economic development, and political patronage are some of the reasons that hold the Indian state culpable for the present state of affairs. The second explanation grants agency to the people of Kashmir themselves. Resurgence of the Kashmiri identity due to a new found awareness resulting from exposure, literacy and limited development encouraged the mobilization of Kashmiris around the issue of their unique identity, distinct from ‘Kashmir as a part of Pakistan or India’.","PeriodicalId":110506,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social and Economic Research","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125919175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
