When these vehicles pass, circulating relatively at high speed, a movement of air is generated. Thus, we can say that this area remains the best suitable place to establish a small profitable and powerful wind system to supply a current to a billboard. The present work goal is to determine effects of blade inclination angle of a small wind turbine on its electric power generated, this small wind system is placed near a motorway zone dominated by lorry vehicles traffic which generates an air movement; this air displacement creates a relatively significant wind speed in a defined direction. Knowledge of the wind field is crucial for design and placement of the small wind machine, which produce sufficiently significant electricity supplied to a small battery intended to turn a billboard.","PeriodicalId":110091,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Wind Energy and Applications in Algeria (ICWEAA)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115778587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The WAsP program was used to analyze the wind Atlas of the region to find the windiest areas. The statistical study gives an appreciable wind potential for Oran the windiest site with an average speed and average power density respectively equal to 4,18 m/s and 101 W/m2, while the Chlef site has a wind potential of 3,11 m/s as speed average and 71 W/m2 for the average power density, when the Mostaghanem site has an average speed of 3,34 m/s and a power density of 64 W/m2. For each region, we defined a windy area suitable for a wind farm to simulate the energy production of six wind farms at the most windy sites. The annual energy produced in each region is 46,193 Wh for Mostaghanem, 38,091 GWh for Oran and 24,772 GWh for Chlef given by nine wind turbines of 1.3MW each of power rated capacity. The technical-economic analysis concluded that the regions studied are favorable to possible installations where the minimum number of hours of operation is more than 3000 hours per year with a capacity factor greater than 30% and cost per kWh product that can reach $ 0.0166.","PeriodicalId":110091,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Wind Energy and Applications in Algeria (ICWEAA)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122100393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two different blade mesh topologies, structured and unstructured meshes and different grid resolutions are tested.The simulations are carried out using Delayed detached-eddy simulation (DDES) with two eddy viscosity turbulence models, Spalart-Allmaras (SA) and Menter Shear stress transport (SST) k-o). A high order spatial discretization is used in these computations. For each proposed rotor configuration, flow field characteristics are investigated at same values of tip speed ratio with an incoming wind velocity of $8mathrm {m}/mathrm {s}$, allowing a quantification of the influence of grid on flow features and dynamic quantities, such as rotor torque and power. The structured mesh topology is observed to give the best results employing the SST $mathrm {k}-(j)$ turbulence model, but the computational cost is more expensive as the grid contains a wake block that increases the number of cells.","PeriodicalId":110091,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Wind Energy and Applications in Algeria (ICWEAA)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133545778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The considered optimization parameters are: amplitude jet $(a_{j})$, jet frequency $(f_{j})$ and jet angle $(alpha _{j})$. The RSMs are constructed based on a quadratic meta-model established from a BOX-BEHNKEN design. The genetic algorithm (GA) is used to explore the surface and determine the parameters giving best performances. Navier–Stokes equations are solved in unsteady calculation of a two-dimensional domain using ANSYS Fluent software. Turbulence is accounted using the k-w SST model. The obtained results, show that optimization of jet parameters can significantly improve control efficiency. Conventional PID control laws provide good results in case of linear systems with constant parameters. In heather land, these control laws are limited in robustness and effectiveness especially in cases of non linear systems. However, in electrical system control, robustness is of particular very importance. This paper investigates the performance of fuzzy logic controllers (FLCs) applied in grid-connected wind generator to improve performances of control. This purpose needed to achieve good performances of reactive power (Q) compensation. This work at first presents a simple control algorithm for active (P) and reactive power based on PI controllers in which an inverter designed can synchronize a sinusoidal current output with a voltage grid. The controller feeds maximum active power into grid at unity power factor, whereas it also allows the adjustment of reactive power injected into the grid. In the second phase of the study, FLCs changes PIs regulators for improve performance of power control. Simulation results confirm that the intelligent control system has good performances.","PeriodicalId":110091,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Wind Energy and Applications in Algeria (ICWEAA)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122433744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To ensure the multifunctional feature, we propose a direct power control (DPC) which is applied to eliminate line current harmonics, compensate reactive power and feeding wind power into the utility. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system. The effect of electrolyser nominal power on the cost of hydrogen (COH) produced by an off-grid wind-hydrogen production system (WHPS) is addressed. Furthermore, optimal configuration of WHPS leading to the minimum COH is identified. WHPS incorporating wind turbine (WT), battery bank, power converters, water electrolyser, and hydrogen tank. Battery bank is used as an energy storage system (ESS). The economic analysis is conducted based on the net present cost (NPC) method that provides an estimation of the cost of energy (COE) and hydrogen. This method uses the NPC value and total annual amount of energy and hydrogen produced by WHPS. For the wind potential and hydrogen demand profile conditions considered in this paper, requirement of high ESS capacity due to the necessity to store both extra wind power output compared to the nominal power of electrolyser and wind power output lower than the minimum power input of electrolyser, keep the COH from WHPS uncompetitive with other system design.","PeriodicalId":110091,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Wind Energy and Applications in Algeria (ICWEAA)","volume":"173 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134441242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
