A total of 6818 randomly selected students from 20 Malaysian public universities (MPU) were involved in this study. This study implements a quantitative approach using percentage and frequency. Drug Knowledge, Experience and Friends Questionnaire (Kamarudin et al., 2010) were employed for data collection. Results of the study showed that only a small number of the respondents had the experience of touching cannabis and know of friends who are using the drug. Less than 25% among male and female students in both categories had knowledge about the effects of using cannabis. The findings of the study revealed that MPU students’ knowledge about the effects of cannabis and the risks associated with its use were scarce.","PeriodicalId":109852,"journal":{"name":"EPH - International Journal of Humanities and Social Science","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114968058","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study is to look into the determinants of performance of mergers and acquisitions in the financial sector in Kenya, basically Banks and Insurance. The objective was to evaluate the relationship between skill competence and performance of Mergers and Acquisition. The study used a descriptive and cross-sectional design, and a mixed methodology. Data collection instruments were questionnaire for obtaining the primary data and published data for secondary data. A total of 93 responses were obtained and the hypothesized relationships were tested using multiple regression analysis. Data analysis was conducted for the purpose of obtaining usable and useful information, with the aim of, describing and summarizing data, identifying relationships between variables, comparing variables, identifying the difference between variables and predicting outcomes of the research, coding, and developing themes. The study reveals that skill competence contributes significantly to performance of M&A. The study offers practical insights to the; Policy makers, academician, scholars and researchers in strengthening organizational identification of the determinants of performance of M&A by considering the crucial role skill competence on the performance. Using behavioural theory, the study suggests that there is a direct correlation between the skill competence and performance, indicating that skill competence were highly positively correlated and regression showed that there was a relationship between the skill competence and performance of mergers and acquisition in the financial sector in Kenya. On the basis of these findings, it is recommended that skill competence brings a greater impact leading to superior performance. While French departments throughout the educational landscape in the United States are dwindling, Spanish programs have been growing exponentially Since Spanish lacks the nasalization of vowels, it is treated as a linguistic relative to English by English-speaking students. Indeed, the omission of personal pronouns in contextualized statements, the phonetic spelling and pronunciation, as well as sufficient cognates within other Romance and even Germanic languages, make Spanish a popular language destination for American students. Although students at the novice level advance rapidly, most students do not move beyond the intermediate level and deprive themselves of the true soul of the Spanish language, the intricacy of Spanish verb tenses, and the Spanish subjunctive. While basic grammar, structure, vocabulary, and etymology are Latin based, Spanish displays unique linguistic phenomena. I will argue that Spanish is not listener focused but speaker based; in other words, it is less important what is said, but how it is said. The impact on Spanish culture of this linguistic hypothesis is the focus of this study. This study helps to find the role of psychological capital in relationship between challenge stress, hindrance stress and employee engagement. Survey has shown 92% response rate after distributing 300 questionnaires; out of which 277 were functional. This study suggested that psychological capital facilitates employees to agree to challenge stressor and increase work engagement. Research will help to identify remedies for stress but it does not illustrate utility of diagnosing stressors. Implications for managers are that they should try to reduce hindrance stressors as they will not result in positive outcomes; however to some extent all type of stressors are fine at workplace. There are numerous challenges the institutions face and these among others include limited supply of high quality evaluation evidence, which is seen as the market failure for both education outcomes and the institutional research. The public seems to have limited information about performance in universities and educators face limited incentives to improve performance. In the market for institutional research, consumers face information problems, which in turn make it difficult to determine the quality of research product due to work overloads on the part of the lecturers and students. The success of institutional research policies are therefore based on requiring better data in the institutions under study to ascertain the workloads and to limit management interferences in research.
