This study aims to develop and compare predictive models that use data mining methods to predict problematic internet shopping. We used the Artificial Neural Network (ANN), CHAID with bagging, and C5.0 and compared them with traditional logistic regression to construct predictive models on a training cohort of 858 shoppers. Another cohort of 368 buyers was utilized to confirm the accuracy of the predictive model. The accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and the ROC-AUC were used to assess the predictive performance. The C5.0 algorithm provided better accuracy in predicting PIS than the other models, indicating that C5.0 might be a practical auxiliary algorithm for predicting PIS. Our research findings cater to a comprehensive PIS prediction system, providing timely intervention and appropriate support to individuals with the PIS problem.","PeriodicalId":109830,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Sciences & Development","volume":"33 14","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141340231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A Semigraph contains more than two vertices. As the Graph Theory can abstract anything, the Semigraph can also abstract anything which has any two edges at most one common vertex according to the definition. Besides in the Medical field or human neurology, Semigraph can also be very useful. The human body works with the functions of the brain and nervous system. The human body suffers from some different types of diseases which may affect the human brain too or it may responsd to the diseases. The research paper “Application of Semigraph and Directed Graph in Neurology of Mental Illness (Anxiety)” represents how the semigraph and the directed graph can be used to know the diseases that affect the human brain and how it may responsd to it.","PeriodicalId":109830,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Sciences & Development","volume":"124 29","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141362574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study focuses on Major League Baseball (MLB) as its research subject, encompassing the years 2020, 2021, and 2022. By employing a set of established evaluation criteria, comprising five pitching and five hitting indicators from previous literature, the regular-season performance of the 30 MLB teams across both leagues (National League and American League) over the three-year period was compiled. Subsequently, a data normalization technique combined with the Borda count concept was proposed to develop a model for forecasting team advancement in the postseason. The predictive accuracy of the model presented in this study for determining MLB postseason qualifiers from 2020 to 2022 fell within the range of 55.6% to 66.7%, akin to models utilizing extensive datasets. Notably, the proposed model is more comprehensible and user-friendly, offering ease of understanding and application for sports enthusiasts and facilitating its potential utilization and dissemination in the sporting community.","PeriodicalId":109830,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Sciences & Development","volume":"84 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140377850","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 14 types of fish from four families were identified in this fishery. The most commonly caught fish were exotic species such as Cyprinus carpio and tilapia species. In contrast, the landings of significant native freshwater fish that are characteristic of Mesopotamian aquatic environments, such as Carasobarbus luteus, Mesopotamichthys sharpeyi, Luciobarbus xanthopterus, and Arabibarbus grypus, dropped considerably. The total fish landing has been steadily increasing since 2009, indicating a positive trend in the overall landing. This growth may be attributed to the expansion of fishing activities and the prevalence of exotic species due to the degradation of the water ecosystem in Southern Iraq. From a fisheries management viewpoint, it is essential to maintain native stocks in the aquatic ecosystems in southern Iraq involving regional cooperation between Iraq, Turkey and Iran to secure the appropriate quantities of water for Iraq from the upper Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, strengthening the stocks of economically native fish by artificially propagating them and then releasing juvenile species into natural waters, and restrict the reproduction of carps and confining them to fish farms, and finally minimizing the impacts of tilapia species by intensifying the fishing activities.","PeriodicalId":109830,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Sciences & Development","volume":"13 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140229412","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Scientific studies show that occupational burnout manifests itself much more dramatically in the medical profession than in other professions, thus reflecting the phenomenon in all its complexity. In specialized literature, studies related to the evaluation of the degree of stress among medical personnel are quite rare. This is one of the reasons for carrying out this study. The second reason is the need to highlight the degree of stress in this professional category. The assessment, made on medical staff from common pharmacies in Constanța County, Romania, consists of formulating a questionnaire that includes questions related to stress factors that occur during professional activity. The answers received are interpreted and evaluated statistically.","PeriodicalId":109830,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Sciences & Development","volume":"30 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139010289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study used quarterly data on bitcoin, financial stability, inflation rate, real GDP, economic volatility uncertainty, exchange rate, and market volatility index for the period 2015Q1-2021Q4. The robustness of the findings was confirmed by the fully modified OLS (FMOLS) and canonical cointegration regression (CCR). The study results demonstrated that an increase in cryptocurrency investments will affect the financial stability of India significantly. Each 1% increase in the cryptocurrency would reduce the financial stability by 5% approximately. However, there was a marginal effect of cryptocurrency on economic growth. The results also found that exchange rate volatility and inflationary pressure would also deteriorate the financial stability of the country. Furthermore, the results also identified positive and significant cointegration between economic growth and financial stability. Due to most transactions in the economy being done through the financial system, it is paramount for economic growth. Going forward, aggressive monetary policy tightening, volatility in capital flows and exchange rates, deanchoring of inflation expectations, faltering in the economic recovery, disruptions due to global supply chains and climate change will be the major risks to the financial stability and economic growth of India.","PeriodicalId":109830,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Sciences & Development","volume":"140 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114665519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
