It is usually difficult to analyze the properties of time delay systems. Thus it would be beneficial to make the systems as simple as possible. For this purpose, the decomposition of the systems into some separate or cascaded sub-systems with smaller dimension is introduced as the solution of the mentioned complex task. The decomposition of the time delay systems with one delay is directly related to simultaneous similarity of two matrices. In this regard, necessary and sufficient conditions are derived for the existence of a common similar block diagonal or triangular form for two matrices. Finally, the applications of the obtained results for time delay systems are illustrated via two examples.","PeriodicalId":108357,"journal":{"name":"2013 8th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125501940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The manufacturer datasheet is recorded under standard test condition (STC) and under laboratory conditions, especially the PV cell temperature, where the temperature used in modeling is ambient temperature, but in the real operation of a PV cell, there are huge differences between ambient temperature and PV cell temperature. Therefore, in this paper a novel approach is used for modeling a PV array by the use of back of panel temperature and real life recorded data (outdoor data). The developed model gives a real life operation condition according to the simulation results, which is compared with validation data (real life data).","PeriodicalId":108357,"journal":{"name":"2013 8th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122392646","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When a non-magnetic or magnetic conductive material rotates into static magnetic field, eddy currents are induced in material. Paths of induced eddy currents depend on the geometrical configuration of moving conductive material and also its electromagnetic properties. However, due to electrical resistance of the conductive material, the eddy currents are disrupted into heat and braking torque occurs. In practice, eddy current brakes are frequently used for motor testing because of the easiness of braking torque control. It is also used as supplementary retardation equipment in addition regular friction brakes on heavy vehicles. Mathematical analysis of the effects of eddy currents is almost impossible due to the complexity of electromagnetic problem. There is no obtained certain relationship which can explain output data in terms of input data since relation includes too many variables including conductive disk areas, conductive disk thickness, conductive disk radius, speed etc. In this study, braking effects of two different eddy current brakes having different pole shapes are compared. Round and rectangular pole shape which have the same pole area are analysed where all numerical design constraints were kept unchanged to compare braking torque vs speed characteristics and total power dissipation on rotating disk. All mentioned designs are analysed by commercial software using finite element method (FEM).","PeriodicalId":108357,"journal":{"name":"2013 8th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122602961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed sensor, experiments were done on a macrobending sensor constructed from 62.5-50-62.5 hetero-core fiber and a macrobending sensor constructed from 62.5/125 μm multi-mode fiber having different loops. Experimental results show that the sensitivity of the proposed macrobending sensor constructed using hetero-core optical fiber is much higher than the sensor constructed from plain multi-mode optical fiber. It is also shown that, the sensitivity of the sensor increases as the number of loops is increased. In addition, the forward and reverse loading effects of the designed sensor exhibit a very close behavior indicating the reversibility of the fiber optic sensor.","PeriodicalId":108357,"journal":{"name":"2013 8th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO)","volume":"345 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122163280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using super-conductors can reduce the insertion loss, and obtain a rather high gain. The full-wave method is used to study the scattering properties of superconducting tunable triangular antennas. Galerkin method is used in the resolution of the electric field integral equation. The far zone radiation fields are derived using Huygens principle and pattern multiplication approach. OPGW cables are exposed to effects of environmental factors such as wind, rain, humidity and snow as well as cooling/heating effects of short-circuits and instantaneous current increases occurring on the phase conductor. When the OPGW cable is exposed to those effects, deformations occur on the cable insulation in time. In this study, using Raman effect based optical fiber distributed temperature sensing (DTS) method, temperature and thermal strain variations occurring along the OPGW cable due to environmental conditions, in particular wind speed and wind direction, have been analyzed and simulations have been performed. Furthermore, thermo-mechanical forces occurring on the OPGW cable have been expressed as a function of temperature change and Young modulus variations. Temperature and thermal strain dependencies of thermo-mechanical forces have also been derived. Using results of the theoretical analysis, simulations of thermo-mechanical force variations along the sensing fiber have also been performed considering the wind effect. The simulation model has been built up for central loose tube type OPGW cable containing single mode optical fiber operating at 1550 nm. For wind speed variations between 5.3 m/s and 10.3 m/s, minimum temperature detected on the cable varies between 26.86 °C and 22.41 °C, respectively, minimum thermal strain varies between 184 με and 64.67 με, respectively. Simulation results show that temperature sensitivities of thermo-mechanical forces are 26 times greater than thermal strain sensitivities.","PeriodicalId":108357,"journal":{"name":"2013 8th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130610297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using this active element, a multifunction frequency filter is designed featuring the possibility of mutually independent control of quality factor Q and characteristic frequency ω0 by means of active elements. The structure of the filter is based on the idea of the Akerberg-Mossberg (AM) filter, i.e. the integrators in the structure are always realized only by two active elements. This fact results in better phase compensation for the filter. Compared to the AM opamp based filter, the newly proposed structure features high-impedance inputs, low-impedance output, and all basic frequency responses. The performance of the proposed structure has been verified by SPICE simulations using the TSMC 0.18 μm level-7 SCN018 CMOS process parameters with ±0.9 V supply voltage.","PeriodicalId":108357,"journal":{"name":"2013 8th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO)","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132843795","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present a study on the impacts of fuel price on electricity market in perfect and imperfect competitive environments. The differences between the power producers' strategies, and benefit transference among different market participants under the effect of fuel price are investigated and compared. It is found that fuel-dependent power producers' production responses with respect to the fuel price are similar in these two competition markets, but the incentives are very different. Moreover, the production strategies of non-fuel-dependent power producers have different effects on the fuel producer's profit. In addition, we show that the essence of the upstream fuel market's impact on the social welfare in the downstream electricity market is benefit transference among the producers, as well as between the producers and consumers.","PeriodicalId":108357,"journal":{"name":"2013 8th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130807400","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
