Reflecting on laws, policies and public attitudes towards sex work in the European context, it considers the tangible impacts on the rights of migrants selling sex. Delving deeper into public political debates on sex work, it finds that within Danish society, the migrant sex worker is rarely conceptualised as a worker. Instead, she is predominantly perceived to be a victim. Through a social network analysis (Plehwe) of this movement and a morphological language analysis (Freeden) of select actors’ intellectual output, this article shifts the focus from large-scale structural changes to individual actors. A range of personal narratives from the two national contexts were collected and analysed as narrative texts for the ways they represented positionality, agency and belonging in the wider discourse of the nation. LGB lives are often reduced to legislative turning points in national narratives, but this study shifts the focus onto the myriad of other formative experiences that contribute to their national sense of self. Analysen viser at udviklingen til en LGBT-forening begyndte allerede i 1999 da et medlem af foreningens egen ledelse stod frem som transkønnet. Analysen viser at delte livserfaringer (’approximations’) mellem transpersoner og homo- og biseksuelle personer var vigtige for opnåelsen af en trans-inklusion, og dermed en LGBT-udvikling. Med afsæt i den deliberationsteoriske demokratiteori undersøger jeg, hvorvidt sagen var et eksempel på et velfungerende demokrati. Artiklen viser hvordan religiøse argumenter var komplet fraværende i den landspolitiske debat, og konkluderer, at sagen kun i ringe grad levede op til deliberative principper. Ved at undersøge Ovartacis idéer om køn, død, religion og andethed vil jeg vise den spænding mellem drøm og historie, som hendes liv og virke var præget af. Hun drømte om en tænkning, som ikke allerede er; men i forsøget herpå blev hun konfronteret med historiens tragiske logik, en negativ identifikation, hvor identitet opstår i grænsedragning. Dette spændingsforhold beskriver Foucault som modernitetens grundvilkår, hvor Guds død betegner umuligheden af en absolut transcendens. Artiklen argumenterer for, at Serbien i ESC fremstillede sig selv som et land, der delte politiske værdier med EU, for at øge sine chancer for et EU-medlemskab. Dernæst argumenterer artiklen for, at den serbiske sangerinde Marija Šerifovićs deltagelse og sejr i ESC og hendes virke som EU-ambassadør er blevet brugt til at signalere, at landet accepterer minoriteter. Tidligere udlægninger af perioden har i deres betragtning af koloniprojektets politiske strategier i høj grad ikke belyst racemæssige forestillinger. Ved inddragelse af lægevidenskabeligt materiale, der lod sig inspirere af raceantropologien, og havde direkte indflydelse på kolonipolitikken i først halvdel af 1900-tallet, søger denne artikel netop at fremhæver race- og racismeperspektiver. Artiklen betragter koloniprojektet som et racistisk projekt, der havde til formål at legitimere Danmarks tilstedeværelse og overherredømme i Grønland, gennem forestillingerne om grønlænderne som tilhørende en underlegen race.
