The objective was to estimate the genetic structure of 176 individuals from eight locations in the Cerrado, Caatinga and Atlantic Forest biomes, based on six microsatellite markers. The analyzes revealed the formation of five population groups: APernambuco, Paraíba and Sergipe (Atlantic Forest), BMaranhão (Cerrado); both, var. speciosa, CBahia (Caatinga / Cerrado transition zone) and Ceará (Caatinga), DGoiás (Cerrado) and EMinas Gerais (Cerrado,) being groups C, D and E possibly var. pubescens. Most of the genetic variation is within the groups (65.61%, Fst = 0.34, p <0.001). Although group A had the highest Ho (0.66), it had a negative fixation index (f = -0.02), while the other had positive values. Our results revealed high levels of genetic diversity and provide support the development of more efficient conservation strategies for H. speciosa.","PeriodicalId":10763,"journal":{"name":"Crop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.5,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67262372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This cultivar represents an essential contribution to sustainable cotton produc tion in India. adaptable to the rainfed agricultural system. The program focuses on yield, fiber quality, and biotic and abiotic stress tolerance ability. The variety NDLH 2005-4 (Nandyal Hirsutum 2005-4) was developed with a mean seed cotton yield potential of (1380 kg ha -1 ) and sucking pest tolerance with mean jassid injury grade (2.2), jassids/3 leaves (8.1), white flies/3 leaves (12.2), and aphids/3 leaves (48.7). To improve productivity, it is essential to develop cultivars with more significant yield potential, better fiber traits, and higher pest and disease tolerance than the existing varieties. Considering the importance of production and productivity of cotton crop in India under rainfed farming, the presen tstudy was undertaken to develop acultivar with high-yield potential, superior fiber traits, and biotic and abiotic stress tolerance suitable for rainfed conditions in India. We report a new variety, NDLH 2051-1 (Nandyal Hirsutum 2051-1), that possesses high mean seed cotton yield, high-quality fiber traits, and sucking pest tolerance to jassids, whiteflies, thrips, and aphids. This cultivar represents a fundamental contribution to cotton production in India’s central and southern zones.","PeriodicalId":10763,"journal":{"name":"Crop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.5,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67261995","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The disease resistance associated with the 2NS/2AS translocation is effective, but its level can be variable. In this study, we evaluated the presence of 2NS/2AS translocation in 310 advanced breeding lines from six crosses (Caninde 2/Milan, Milan/Caninde 2, Maringa/Milan, Milan/Maringa, Ciano79/Milan and Milan/ Ciano79), and also studied their wheat blast reaction in the field to three virulent pathogen strains (P13-009, P14-031 and P14-039) collected in Paraguay. Advanced lines of two crosses (Caninde 2/Milan and Milan/Caninde 2) yielded the highest number of blast-resistant entries without 2NS/2AS translocation. Earlier studies have shown Caninde 2 to be a moderately susceptible line, which in combination with Milan, is probably adding non-2NS/2AS type resistance to these crosses. Our result indicates that such a resistance is based on several additive factors derived from multiple sources, which need to be explored further and also used to develop more durable wheat blast-resistant germplasm in the future.","PeriodicalId":10763,"journal":{"name":"Crop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.5,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67262268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, there is a need to understand the relationship between the traits evaluated in the R6 (full seed) and R8 (full maturity) stages and estimate genetic divergence. At two sites and two crop seasons, we evaluated 42 progenies (F6 generation) from crosses between vegetable soybean genotypes and three commercial cultivars. In general, we found significant coincident correlations between environments. Positive and significant correlations between pod width (PWR6) and hundredseed weight (HSW) and between PWR6 and hundred-pod weight (HPW) suggest the possibility of replacing the labor-intensive process of obtaining HSW and HPW by estimating PWR6, which is faster and easier to apply. The unweighted pair-group method arithmetic average analysis allocated soybean genotypes into six major clusters. Furthermore, information from the present work may guide practical actions in breeding programs.","PeriodicalId":10763,"journal":{"name":"Crop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.5,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67261616","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, little information is available on the GST gene family of sweet potato, a globally important crop. The genetic evolution of GSTs in sweet potato remains unclear. The present study investigated the GST gene family in sweet potato by transcriptomic and comparative genomic analyses. A total of 51 GSTs were identified. Gene expression analysis showed differential expression patterns of the GSTs between two investigated varieties. Some GST expression levels were either upor downregulated under oxidative, salinity and drought stresses. The results of the investigation provided new insights on the GST gene family in sweet potato, which may further the understanding of the roles of these genes in regulating abiotic stresses.","PeriodicalId":10763,"journal":{"name":"Crop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.5,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67261929","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
