The study included relevant sources that were published between 2015 and 2022. \u0000Findings: It was found that sound loss adjustment practices are a prerequisite for optimal financial and non-financial performance of insurance firms. It was concluded that having a clear policy approved by senior management, with regards to ex-gratia claim payments reduced the financial risks. It was also concluded that insurance firms can enhance their financial performance by regularly reviewing their claims handling guidelines to factor in new developments and trends. The study further concluded that non-financial and financial performance of insurance firms in influenced by quality reviews of claims to assess whether they are handled professionally and resolved appropriately. One of the performance measures could be the number and nature of complaints against the insurer with respect to their claims settlement decisions. The performance is also influenced by monitoring the level of claims which should not have been paid or are overpaid and the severity of delays in claims registration and case reserves revision. \u0000Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Based on the study findings, it was recommended that insurance firms should endeavor to set case reserves accurately for each claim in a timely manner, especially in respect of general insurance business. The components of case reserves should also be captured in sufficient details to provide useful statistics for in-depth analysis. For example, a single claim file could have separate components for own property damage, third party liabilities and fees payable to external parties. Another recommendation is that the insurer should have a clear policy, approved by senior management, with regards to ex-gratia claim payments. The authority to approve such payments should also be clearly specified and the rationale for the approval should be properly documented. \u0000

Bukusi
Purpose: The global outbreak of the COVID-19 virus forced governments across Africa to impose major health, travel and trade restrictions at home to protect their citizens from the pandemic. These measures caused a dampening impact on conventional social and business activity forcing organizations to rethink, redraw and reset their operations to remain functional, viable and sustainable. The aim of this study was to show that the pandemic driven changes in the business environment, though disruptive in nature, essentially enabled businesses to acquire a new set of survival and success competencies to thrive in the foreseeable future. \u0000Methodology: This study used paper reviews, research journal findings, academic papers, and online business publications that tracked business responses to the pandemic. The author used a thematic analysis of text and descriptive statistics to analyze data on the major changes businesses have made in response to the pandemic. \u0000Findings: The results indicated that business activities were severely affected by the onset of the pandemic. The pandemic also disrupted conventional business strategy and forced companies to review their operations in the light of challenges of continuing business in the COVID-19 environment. While short term survival measures included laying off staff and cutting back on overhead costs, business quickly embarked on medium plans to re-engineer business operations using online service technology to reach consumers under lockdown conditions. However, businesses have gone further to invest in digital transformation not only to survive the pandemic, but also to ensure their profitability and long-term success. In the light of these developments businesses have reset their activities under five themes; structure, strategy, staffing, service and sustainability. The author argues that reset changes are likely to become institutionalized as businesses carry forward their learning experience into their culture. The business community is also expected to pursue the opportunities created by the pandemic to critically define and differentiate between core business activity and non-essential engagements. Society has undergone substantive transformation over the pandemic season and expects organizations to respond and adapt accordingly. \u0000Recommendations: Operational and start up organizations should attune their business to the mental and experiential reset in customer expectations brought about by the pandemic. Businesses need to provide meaningful consumer value without over dependence on high cost overhead infrastructure such as expansive corporate offices, centralized staffing and profit draining procurement and distribution.

The target population was 177 Sacco Managers and two representatives, one from MOT and other from MVOA respectively. The whole population of 179 respondents was used in the study hence; the study employed the census approach. The questionnaire was pilot tested on 18 respondents who were selected randomly. The study applied Cronbach's alpha and the results displayed a high level of internal consistency hence infers that the research tool used in the study was reliable. The data collection instrument was a semi-structured questionnaire, which were dropped and picked later. A semi-structured interview guide was also used. Data was analysed using descriptive and SPSS Version 24. \u0000Results: The findings indicate that there exists a statistically significant, positive effect of strategic integration on sustainable mobility of Matatu Saccos in Nairobi County, Kenya. The R square in the moderated models changed from 71.3% to 80.9% indicating 9.6% increase in variation as a result of the regulatory environment moderating effect. Further, the increase was statistically significant; this implies that regulatory environment does significantly moderate the effect of strategic integration and sustainable mobility of Matatu Saccos in Nairobi County, Kenya. \u0000Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: The study recommended that both the Ministry of Transport and Sacco management develop a punitive measure to curb corruption. The other recommendation is that they should also develop regulatory policies to ensure that vehicles are regularly inspected to confirm their minimum road worthiness to increase safety and increase passenger comfort. This will also promote green environment that will reduce the health hazards of vehicle emission. Additionally, the policy can enhance traffic discipline which is poorly enforced. and also provide basic statistics on transport system.
