 Materials and Methods: After early and prolonged tDCS administration in PD animals (starting 24 hours after PD lesion, 1000 mA anodal tDCS, 30 min/day, 13 days), the effects of tDCS on motor and cognitive function behaviors and glutamatergic neuron excitotoxicity were determined by Ca2+, glutamate, and NMDAR1 levels.
 Results: We found that the 13-day tDCS intervention significantly reduced 6-OHDA-induced motor deficits in locomotor activity, learning, and memory-like behavior. Biochemically, we showed that it also reduces Ca2+, glutamate, and NMDAR1 levels, which cause hippocampal neuronal damage.
 Conclusion: These results suggest that early and long-term tDCS may exert neuroprotective effects and reduce the exacerbation of motor and cognitive impairments in a rat model of 6-OHDA-induced PD. However, it also shows that tDCS has an effect on the glutamatergic pathway in PD and prevents neuronal excitotoxicity. Furthermore, this preclinical model may increase the potential use of therapeutic tDCS and serve as a translation platform to further define the therapeutic mechanism of tDCS for PD or other disorders.","PeriodicalId":10748,"journal":{"name":"Cukurova Medical Journal","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136277757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

 Materials and Methods: In this study, the inhibitory effects of ethyl alcohol extracts prepared from various plants and some chemical compounds on histone deacetylase activity were investigated. In addition, the antioxidant activity of plant-derived active substances, which have had an important value in alternative medicine in recent years, has been determined to replace chemicals.
 Results: All the plant extracts and chemical substances used in the study showed histone deacetylase inhibitory effect (with IC50 range of 0.000078-319.0 µg/mL) and antioxidant activity. The results indicated that the percentage of histone deacetylase inhibition and antioxidant activities increased with increasing concentrations of the plant extracts and chemical compounds.
 Conclusion: These plant extracts which are potential sources of histone deacetylase inhibitors may be appropriately used as an alternative support to drug treatment rather than the use of toxic chemicals.","PeriodicalId":10748,"journal":{"name":"Cukurova Medical Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136277758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

 Materials and Methods: All patients who were admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (13 bed) of a university hospital and used more than one drug in their treatment were included in this prospective and cross-sectional study. Patients' demographics, laboratory findings, and medications included in their treatment were evaluated daily by a clinical pharmacist. The UpToDate® database was used to detect potential drug interactions.
 Results: During the study, 797 potential drug-drug interactions were detected in 55 (83.33%) of 66 patients followed. All these interactions were evaluated by the clinical pharmacist and 114 recommendations were made to the physicians following the treatment regarding these potential interactions. Eighty-five (74.56%) of these recommendations were accepted by physicians. Within the scope of the study, each patient was followed up for a median of 9 (2-63) days, and the median value of potential drug interactions detected during this period was calculated as 7 (1-89).
 Conclusion: The existence of pDDIs was significantly associated with the number of prescribed medications. Exposure to pDDIs is frequent in critically ill pediatric patients and related to the number of medications. Daily and close cooperation between clinicians and clinical pharmacists is recommended to prevent harmful outcomes of DDIs. In order to minimize this risk, it is recommended to avoid polypharmacy as much as possible and to offer alternatives to inducer and inhibitor drugs in treatment.","PeriodicalId":10748,"journal":{"name":"Cukurova Medical Journal","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136277836","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

 Materials and Methods: This study, which is a randomized controlled intervention study, was conducted with 42 (experimental group: 21, control group: 21) patients who underwent subarachnoid hemorrhage surgery in the neurosurgery intensive care unit of a university hospital and met the sampling criteria. In the study, \"Patient Descriptive Information Form\" and \"Patient Results Form\" were used as data collection tools. A total of 42 patients operated on for subarachnoid hemorrhage were included in the study. While the patients in the intervention group were placed in the left lateral, right lateral, and semi-fowler position (30 degrees) every 2 to 4 hours for the first 72 hours, those in the control group were routinely placed in the semi-fowler position (20 to 45 degrees).
 Results: The power of hydrogen value and partial oxygen pressure and arterial oxygen saturation at the 48th hour in the intervention group were statistically significantly higher than the control group at the 72nd hour. In the intervention group, a slight decrease was observed only in the heart rate at 72 hours, which was near normal.
 Conclusion: Lateral and semi-fowler positions with a 2 to 4 hour interval contributed to improved oxygenation and prevented secondary complications of subarachnoid hemorrhage.","PeriodicalId":10748,"journal":{"name":"Cukurova Medical Journal","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136277457","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

 Materials and Methods: Endometrial expression of TRPV6 and PMCA1 proteins was evaluated during the mid-secretory phase using the immunohistochemical method, and mRNA levels were measured by real-time PCR. Calcium concentrations were determined using Inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).
 Results: TRPV6 and PMCA1 protein expression were significantly increased in both luminal and glandular epithelium of UI or E groups compared to the control group. TRPV6 mRNA expression levels were significantly lower in the UI group (0.525 ± 0.087) compared to the control group (0.809 ± 0.073). There was no significant difference in PMCA1 mRNA expression levels between the groups. Calcium concentration was significantly higher in women with UI (median (Q1-Q3): 50.57 [40.67-51.37], compared to the control group (median (Q1-Q3): 24.29 [20.11-25.55]).
 Conclusion: The present findings demonstrate altered expressions of TRPV6 and PMCA1 mRNA and protein, along with differences in calcium concentration among patients, especially those with the UI during the window of implantation. These differences might potentially be considered as one of the underlying causes of infertility. Further studies are needed to elucidate the functional roles of these channels and to develop new strategies for pharmaceutical intervention in the treatment of infertility.","PeriodicalId":10748,"journal":{"name":"Cukurova Medical Journal","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136277578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
