Neural networks in the scheme are used to solve the contradiction between backstepping control and unmatched conditions of systems. A special weight online tuning method is proposed in this paper, and an off-line training phase is not required. The method does not require the system parameters to be exactly known, and the system is robust. The simulation results show that, the proposed method is effective.","PeriodicalId":106054,"journal":{"name":"The Fifth International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2003. Then, the harmonic component of the load current is extracted to create a reference current of the active filter. This paper proposes a novel current control method that requires only detecting the source current. It requires neither detecting the active filter output current nor extracting a harmonic component from the source current. Only two current sensors are required for detecting the current in respective two phases. Thus, the current control system can be greatly simplified.","PeriodicalId":106054,"journal":{"name":"The Fifth International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2003. A macromodel is used for the integrated bipolar transistor (IGBT) power devices and the complete inverter is modelled in PSpice. The model has been shown to give accurate predictions of on-state and switching characteristics. Loss predictions have been verified by calorimetric measurements to show the effects of switching frequency and modulation method. The control signal is based on the instantaneous speed deviation and acceleration of the motor and on a set of simple fuzzy control rules. A novel approach is proposed to generate the control rules, and thus increase the effectiveness of the controller. A genetic algorithm is used to search for optimal setting of the controller parameters. The proposed control algorithm was successfully implemented using a 1.5 hp three-phase induction motor fed from a pulse width modulation inverter and a digital signal processor (DSP-TMS320C31). Simulation and experimental results for the prototype are presented to verify the good performance of the proposed speed controller over a range of operating conditions.","PeriodicalId":106054,"journal":{"name":"The Fifth International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2003. Linear techniques consist principally of either a proportional-integral or predictive current control strategy, while nonlinear schemes are usually based on a hysteresis strategy. Of the two linear strategies, predictive current control offers the advantages of precise current tracking with minimal distortion and can also be fully implemented on a digital platform. However, the conventional implementation of the predictive current regulation algorithm is sensitive to noise and errors in the load inductance estimate, particularly when the backemf is also estimated. This paper presents an improved predictive current regulation algorithm that retains all the benefits associated with predictive current regulation while achieving significantly increased robustness to load parameter mismatch and reduced zero current clamping oscillation effects. It is also relatively insensitive to noise in the sampled current measurements. The algorithm is equally applicable to variable fundamental frequency applications, such as variable speed drives, and to fixed fundamental frequency applications, such as PWM rectifier systems or active filters. Simulation and experimental results are presented to confirm the improved robustness of the new algorithm.","PeriodicalId":106054,"journal":{"name":"The Fifth International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2003.
