Repeating some computational examples of Nakao, we have observed that our implementation of his method gives better results. Moreover, it appears that the presented interval difference scheme gives better enclosures of exact solutions than Nakao’s method. An exact and reliable estimation of the thermophysical parameters from the MD data requires a properly and carefully elaborated methodology. In this paper, an improved two-phase sandwich method for the determination of the metal melting temperature is proposed, based on the solid-liquid equilibrium theory. The new method was successfully implemented using the LAMMPS software and the C++11 Standard Libraries and then applied to aluminum and copper systems. Binder, Challa, and Lee-Kosterlitz cumulants are exploited and supplemented by the use of the energy distribution histogram. The proposed computer experiments using the Metropolis algorithm calculate the cumulants in question, the internal energy and its partial contributions as well as the energy distribution for the model Hamiltonian and its components. Presently, we employ the extended thermoelasticity theory proposed by Lord and Shulman (1969) and consider a problem of linear thermoelasticity for the hollow disk with a thermal shock applied on its inner boundary. The thermoelastic equations have been solved using the complete finite element approach, where we have used discretization in the time domain as well as space domain and applied the Galerkin’s approach of the finite element for both time and space domain. We implement our scheme for a particular case and carry out computational work to obtain the numerical solution of the problem. Further, we compare the present results with the solutions obtained by FEM with Newmark time integration method and the solutions obtained by a trans-FEM method in which Laplace transform technique is used for the time domain. We show that, there is a perfect match in solutions of complete finite element approach with trans-finite element method and Newmark method. A Lennard-Jones interatomic potential has been used to model the interactions between argon atoms. In simulations and calculations of the thermal conductivity by the Green-Kubo formula, the long-range interactions between atoms have been taken into account using the minimum image method (MIM). The study shows that there are no significant differences between the values of the thermal conductivity obtained by method using MIM and those coming from traditional Green-Kubo approach. In their studies of this model Kenichiro Aoki and Dimitri Kusnezov emphasized its most interesting feature: because the quartic tethers act to scatter long-wavelength phonons, φ chains exhibit Fourier heat conduction. In his recent Snook-Prize work Aoki also showed that the model can exhibit chaos on the threedimensional energy surface describing a two-body two-spring chain. That surface can include at least two distinct chaotic seas. Aoki pointed out that the model typically exhibits different kinetic temperatures for the two bodies. Evidently few-body φ problems merit more investigation.
