The experimental results show that depending on its localization, septal lesion can either: (1) eliminate the wakefulness theta rhythm without suppressing that of paradoxical sleep; (2) eliminate the paradoxical sleep theta rhythm without suppressing that of wakefulness. These results suggest that there are two kinds of theta activity having different anatomophysiological bases and a different functional significance: one associated with wakefulness and the other with paradoxical sleep.</p>","PeriodicalId":10544,"journal":{"name":"Comptes rendus hebdomadaires des seances de l'Academie des sciences. The autochthonous populations of the north side of the Pyrénées are characterized by a high frequency of the gene Gc2 and a very low frequency of the Gc1F gene. This distinguishes them from the other groups studied (southwestern, northwestern and eastern France). The quantitative analysis of the data emphasizes the difference. With classical unidimensional statistical tests it was not possible to discriminate active drugs between them. In adult blood, this ratio is reversed, 2% only of the cells being intensively labelled with anti-i. The administration of naloxone (5 micrograms) into the Raphé Magnus considerably reduces the effects of intravenous morphine. The slight decrease found in the enzymatic activity suggests that these afferents have a minor participation in the GABA innervation of the NRD and implies the existence of an intrinsic GABAergic system in this nucleus. This local innervation was demonstrated by radio-autography and shows fibers, axonal varicosities and cell bodies which accumulate 3H GABA in the caudal part of this nucleus.</p>","PeriodicalId":10544,"journal":{"name":"Comptes rendus hebdomadaires des seances de l'Academie des sciences.
