Alternative durable bonding techniques between zirconia and resin cement are still mandatory. Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of two adhesive promoter types and two resin cements on the shear bond strength of sandblasted ultra-translucent zirconia plates to resin cement. Materials and Methods: BruxZir anterior Zirconia blank was sliced to obtain forty-two ultra-translucent zirconia plates, followed by their sintering. All the plates were sandblasted using 50 µm alumina particles. Plates were divided into three groups according to the type of adhesive promoter: Group A: no primer, Group B: coated with zirconia primer, and group C: coated with a universal bonding agent. One plate from each group was examined under Scanning Electron Microscope. Half of the plates in each group were bonded to conventional composite resin cement while the other half were bonded to Phosphate containing one following the manufacturers’ instructions. All plates were stored in an incubator containing distilled water at 37 ºc for 1 week. Shear bond strength test was performed using universal testing machine. Data obtained were analyzed statistically. Results: The application of Z prime and bonding to conventional resin cement resulted in the highest shear bond strength values (19.58 MPa) followed by no primer application and bonding to phosphate resin cement (15.8 MPa). Universal bonding agent showed the lowest bond strength values with both resin cements. Conclusions: Application of MDP-containing primer showed the highest bond strength with conventional resin cement while the universal adhesive showed weak bond strength with both resin cements. Resin cements reacted almost equally when used directly on zirconia without primer application.","PeriodicalId":104867,"journal":{"name":"Ain Shams Dental Journal","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130146785","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Material and method: Ten patients were selected to participate in this study. For each one, two complete dentures were constructed, Group I were rehabilitated with a conventional complete denture, while Group II were rehabilitated with a complete denture constructed using 3D designed and printed custom trays with gothic arch tracing of jaw relation with the help of arcus digma. Results: By comparing the two groups there was a significant difference between them in biting force distribution where (SD) values for biting force difference posteriorly between the right and left posterior segments for centric occlusion was significantly higher for Group I (20.52±7.99) than Group II (14.45±7.33). Anteriorly Group I (27.85±25.68) had significantly higher mean value for biting force distribution than Group II (21.70±23.92). While there was no significant difference between them in retention evaluation where Group II (31.36±2.73) showed higher mean value than Group I (28.95±5.95), yet the difference was not significant. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, it was found that dentures made by using gothic arch technique in taking centric relation by the help of arcus digma was more accurate in occlusion, this means that the force was more evenly distributed on the denture leading to better stability and fewer adjustments. Dentures made using this technique also had retention competent to regular dentures.","PeriodicalId":104867,"journal":{"name":"Ain Shams Dental Journal","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115222587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Eligibility Criteria: Completely or partially edentulous male or female participants who are systematically healthy and who require implant supported prosthesis, whether fixed or removable, were included. Studies that compared implant treatment between smokers and non-smokers, using both delayed insertion and loading protocols were eligible. Data Collection and Analysis: Review authors extracted data relevant to PECOTS. Besides, confounders and co-interventions were collected and reported. Data was descriptive and statistically analyzed Results: Nine studies met the inclusion and exclusion criteria; 6 prospective cohort studies and 3 RCTs, including 650 patients. One RCT did not mention the exact number of participants and instead the number of inserted implants was reported. Only 3 studies were included in the meta-analysis. Conclusions: Implant placement in smokers seems to be possible, in addition to periodontal therapy and strict oral hygiene that might increase the chances of success. Methodology: 22 Teeth were anaesthetized using a nerve block technique, Access was performed with Z and round bur.Length was determined using apex locator. Canals were prepared with crown down technique using Fanta rotary files with an endo motor. Canals were thoroughly irrigated with a syringe with end needle gauge 27, delivering 5 ml of 2.5% NaOCl at each instrument change and finally irrigated with manual dynamic agitation, the irrigant was manually activated for 60 seconds with a master cone for each canal. The canals were dried with sterile paper points equal to the size of the master cone. Root canals were obturated using lateral compaction technique, by gutta percha master cone equal to the size of the master apical file and a spreader was used to make space for auxiliary cones, using resin root canal sealer then placing temporary filling and then a spreader was used to allow space for auxiliary cones, using resin-based root canal sealer i then placing temporary filling. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are also considered one of the most promising nanomaterials in wound healing. Objectives: To compare between the possible healing effect of application of AV and AgNPs on chemically-induced labial mucosal ulcer in Albino rats at different durations. Material and methods: After chemical induction of ulcer on labial mucosa, forty-two adult male Albino rats were divided equally into three main groups: Group I (untr eated ulcerated): rats didn’t receive any treatment. Group II (AV gel): rats received topical application of AV gel (0.25ml/kg) once daily. Group III (AgNPs gel): rats received topical application of AgNPs gel (2mg/kg) once daily. Each group was divided into two subgroups named A and B according to time of sacrification at three and nine days respectively. Labial mucosae were dissected and examined histologically and immunohistochemically for cell proliferation. Results: Histologically, subgroup IA, IB and IIA showed epithelial degeneration, while subgroup IIB and IIIA showed continuous epithelial lining. Complete epithelial regeneration was seen in subgroup IIIB. Immunohistochemically and statistically, subgroup IIIA showed higher mean area fraction (AF%) of anti-PCNA immunopositivity in epithelium and lamina propria than subgroup IA. The highest mean AF % was shown in subgroup IIIB when compared to subgroup IB and IIB.
