Forest fires that occur on peatlands are caused because the peatlands have been degraded due to deforestation, with the aim of utilizing peatlands for forestry and agricultural cultivation activities. Efforts to mitigate forest fires on peatlands need to be made. The first thing to do is to map peatlands that have a high risk of burning. In order to cover a large area, remote sensing technology is needed. Peatlands that have subsided are identical to peatlands that are dry, so they burn easily. SAR interferometry has the ability to detect the subsidence of peatlands. Combined with the Wosten model, areas with a high potential risk of forest fire on peatland can be mapped, and this has been demonstrated in this research.","PeriodicalId":104561,"journal":{"name":"2021 7th Asia-Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar (APSAR)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125552271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this research, we propose an array antenna that is the core of the X-band antenna for circularly polarized SAR (CP-SAR) onboard an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The proposed antenna is designed in left-handed circularly polarized (LHCP) mode and is a compact, lightweight, low-profile microstrip antenna with printed wiring on a two-layer dielectric substrate. The dielectric substrate is a glass-fluoropolymer dielectric substrate with a thickness of 1.6 mm, a relative dielectric constant of 2.17, and a dielectric loss tangent of 0.0005. It enables high-resolution CP-SAR with a wide bandwidth of 800 MHz and a low axial ratio. For this purpose, the radiating surface of the unit element of the array antenna was designed as an ax-shaped shape with square slots. The band axial ratio was adjusted by an elliptical degenerate separation element. And the feeding method is a single proximity junction feeding to provide flexibility in the array wiring. The unit elements are arranged in two rows and two columns, and each element is fed radially from the center by a sequential rotating array. The proposed antenna was designed by simulation and fabricated by photo etching. The basic characteristics of the antenna were verified by experiments in an anechoic chamber. The design was carried out at a center frequency of 9.4 GHz with a bandwidth of 800 MHz. The unit element showed a gain of 7.9 dBic and an axial ratio of less than 3.0 dB in the simulation, while the prototype antenna showed a gain of 8.5 dBic and an axial ratio of less than 2.7 dB. For the array antenna, the simulated gain was 11.8 dBic and the axial ratio was less than 2.7 dB, and the prototype antenna had a gain of 11.6 dBic and the axial ratio was less than 1.5 dB. This antenna will be used in further study for ground test and flight test of UAV onboard SAR.","PeriodicalId":104561,"journal":{"name":"2021 7th Asia-Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar (APSAR)","volume":"134 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127596752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, one post-event airborne SAR image of Pi-SAR-X2 was employed to detect the changes of residential buildings in Mashiki Town, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. The changes in scattering characteristics of collapsed and non-collapsed buildings were compared using variance, homogeneity, contrast and dissimilarity textures of the Grey Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) from building footprints and roof areas. In addition, due to the difficulty in detection using only one texture, combination of textures in different polarizations were also applied for damage detection. The results of this method were then compared with the field survey data. The result indicates the possibility of building damage assessment using only post-event data and solving the pre-event data limitation problem.","PeriodicalId":104561,"journal":{"name":"2021 7th Asia-Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar (APSAR)","volume":"53 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120853538","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reduce the connection complexity in multi-channel aperture synthesis system, a novel double-layer distributed transmission and processing structure is proposed in this paper. The proposed structure is composed of fully-interconnected inner layers and ring-shaped outer layers, providing the ability for distributed computation and the scalability of the system. A data transmission method for the proposed structure is also presented to ensure that the correlation computation can be calculated in real time and without redundancy. The implementation of the proposed structure is analyzed, such as the uniform distribution of the calculation through the system, the tradeoff between the connection complexity and the transmission bandwidth, etc. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the system and demonstrate that the proposed structure can tolerate high transmission delay and achieve good transmission utilization.","PeriodicalId":104561,"journal":{"name":"2021 7th Asia-Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar (APSAR)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127720549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the existing NLOS imaging radar mainly focuses on two-dimensional (2-D) imaging, which may suffer from information loss and geometric distortion of the real three-dimensional (3-D) underlying scene. In this paper, exploiting the scene sparsity and the specular scattering of the reflector, we proposed an NLOS 3-D radar imaging method based on Bayesian compressed sensing sparse reconstruction and mirror projection. In the scheme, the imaging model of NLOS radar with the geometric mirror scattering is first constructed. And then, the sparse Bayesian learning method is used to perform high-resolution imaging of the NLOS objects. In order to verify the technique, we set up a millimeter-wave multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) array scanning system, and different types of metal balls and irregular targets are tested. The experimental results demonstrate that the presented 3-D NLOS imaging radar can obtain the near-field high-resolution 3-D imaging of the tested targets, and the effectiveness of the sparsity-driven algorithm is verified.","PeriodicalId":104561,"journal":{"name":"2021 7th Asia-Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar (APSAR)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122459601","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed visualization was carried out by processing of JONSWAP directional spectral formulation. Meanwhile, backscattering effects of MIZ from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) point of view is investigated. The results show that sea states including the wind speed and wind direction have direct impacts on the surface roughness, so that they can alter the electromagnetic properties and texture characteristics. Despite the limitations of different synthesis techniques, such as computational burden, dimensionality, complex formulation, non-coherent backscattering, and other variables that are hard to assess due to difficult access to the polar region, the proposed approach reduces the reliance on approximate formulations and empirical instructions.","PeriodicalId":104561,"journal":{"name":"2021 7th Asia-Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar (APSAR)","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126985483","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Space-borne Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) has been a key technology for global surface deformation monitoring. Japanese L-band SAR, ALOS/PALSAR acquired a huge amount of interferometric data during 2006-2011. To help to reveal the spatially detailed ground deformation on a continental scale, we have been producing interferograms using the full archive of the PALSAR data. So far, we have processed 450,000 interferograms in some primary regions of interest (i.e., the whole area of Japan, active fault regions of Southeast Asia and the Middle East). The derived interferograms can be used for the time series analysis to investigate the velocity or time series of the deformation with high accuracy. In sub-meter high-resolution SAR images, man-made metallic targets, such as pylons, can be easily detected and their details can be obtained. Therefore, pylon detection using high-resolution SAR images has its unique advantages. To solve the problem that traditional pylon detection methods in SAR images require the manual design of feature extractors and perform poorly in terms of realtime requirements, an effective and fast framework for pylon detection in SAR images is proposed in this paper. It combines Faster R-CNN and sliding window algorithm to detect pylons in large-scene SAR images. Besides, it effectively improves detection accuracy by using data augmentation. The proposed method can detect up to 97.6% on the test set and 80% in largescene GF-3 SAR images. The average time cost of detection is 0. 06s for a slice image and 90s for a large-scale SAR image. Experiments demonstrate good performance in detection rate and instantaneity.","PeriodicalId":104561,"journal":{"name":"2021 7th Asia-Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar (APSAR)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133100922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
