Using a large sample of large US firms, this paper investigates the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on firms' SG activities. First, we investigate whether the pandemic induced firms to increase their environmental, social, and governmental investment. Our initial results reveal that firms increase their environmental, social, and governance activities despite the financial challenges during the pandemic. However, further investigation demonstrates that a general increase in social investments drives our initial results. Also, our findings indicate that, with respect to environmental, social, and governance activities, the pandemic affected industries in different ways. Limitations and directions for future studies are also provided.","PeriodicalId":103733,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Sustainable Islamic Business and Finance (SIBF)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131283079","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using the non-parametric Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method and the Malmquist index, the study recorded an unstable Total Factor Productivity (TFP) level of Islamic stocks. In the period 2018–2019 and 2019–2020, the TFP of Islamic stocks have shown an increasing trend. However, in the 2017–2018 and 2020–2021 periods, the TFP of Islamic stocks have shown a declining trend, mainly contributed by technological advancements. On the other hand, changes in technical efficiency have deteriorated the TFP of Islamic stocks. The findings signified the importance of embracing superior technology, enhancing the scale, and the managerial capacity of companies that issue Islamic stocks by combining the ideal mix of inputs to produce the optimal output to contribute to a continuous improvement in TFP.","PeriodicalId":103733,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Sustainable Islamic Business and Finance (SIBF)","volume":"476 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123053934","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study evaluates the influence that Islamic banks play in corporate social responsibility (CSR) in affecting customer loyalty, both individually and via the integrated roles of image, trust, satisfaction, and reputation. The study does so by focusing on a number of social activities. These avenues investigate how Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) might make consumers of Islamic banks pleased, persuaded, happy, astounded, and eventually loyal. The empirical investigation using partial least square structural equation modeling with a sample size of 283 individuals revealed that CSR had direct and beneficial effects on loyalty. Indirectly, the connection between these two elements is meaningless because of the serial roles of image-reputation and satisfaction-reputation; nevertheless, the relationship is meaningful because of the single role of reputation and the serial role of trust-reputation. An improved version of a prediction model for the level of client loyalty in Islamic banking has been produced as a consequence of this research. The practical application comes in the significance of establishing CSR in order to build trust and reputation, which will eventually result in an increase in client loyalty toward Islamic banks.","PeriodicalId":103733,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Sustainable Islamic Business and Finance (SIBF)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130228667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the Pandemic period of the last two years, the COVID-19 outbreak has caused chaos in the worldwide economy. Sickness outbreaks, supply-chain disruptions, and, more recently, inflation have made policymaking exceedingly difficult. This research aims to forecast GDP (Gross Domestic Product) per capita for the coming years while also examining historical and present trends in India. This study's objective is to forecast India's future GDP per capita over ten years, from 2021 to 2030, using ARIMA. According to a study, India's GDP per capita has been growing during the last 10 years, and this movement is likely to last over the following ten years.","PeriodicalId":103733,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Sustainable Islamic Business and Finance (SIBF)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129496683","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This analysis uses secondary data from 17 Indian states over three fiscal years, 2018 to 2020. We employ panel data analysis (PDA) to investigate this study's hypothesis. The outcome demonstrates how financial literacy has a favorable influence on India's long-term sustainable growth. These findings indicate that governments and banks must inform the public about their digital platforms and offerings. Given that it promotes financial inclusion, economic progress, and poverty reduction, the government should enhance its digital infrastructure in rural regions so that people there may better comprehend and utilize it.","PeriodicalId":103733,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Sustainable Islamic Business and Finance (SIBF)","volume":"109 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126957230","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Blockchain technology allows DeFi to provide financial services bypassing the traditional financial intermediaries, like banks or brokers. It is an innovative technology that is making a significant influence on the modern society due to its unique characteristics of security, decentralised nature and transparency. Although DeFi has rapidly evolved and has the potential to revolutionise the banking and finance industry, it is a fairly a new concept as compared to the traditional centralised systems and therefore participants should be aware of considerable risks and challenges linked with it. Thus, a systematic literature review was conducted to examine the different types of risks and challenges associated with DeFi, along with the suggested solutions to mitigate them or lessen them. Our analysis of the literature led us to classify the challenges into some categories that aim to give a fair sense of the challenges from a broader perspective without digging too deeply into any one particular issue. Although, DeFi is indeed a revolutionising technology, the knowledge of these risks in DeFi can help us to utilise the resources more efficiently to achieve our goals in this sector.","PeriodicalId":103733,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Sustainable Islamic Business and Finance (SIBF)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115493611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to dissect the influence of personality on organizational commitment through employee engagement. This study uses a quantitative method with convenience sampling technique. The data were collected through the distribution of online questionnaires to 26 respondents. The data analysis technique used Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that personality has a significant impact on employee engagement, and employee engagement also has a significant impact on organizational engagement. Personality, on the other hand, does not significantly affect organizational commitment. In a perfect brokerage relationship, personality has a significant impact on organizational commitment through employee engagement The results show that personality has a significant effect on employee engagement and employee engagement also has a significant effect on organizational commitment. Meanwhile, personality has no significant effect on organizational commitment. In the relationship between the three variables in the form of full mediation, personality has a significant effect on organizational commitment through employee engagement. Based on the results of the study, indicators that provide comfort for others, enthusiastic, and feel they have a close relationship with the company get the lowest score on filling out questionnaires, so companies need to improve these indicators, for example through training.","PeriodicalId":103733,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Sustainable Islamic Business and Finance (SIBF)","volume":"135 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114671756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Over a third of the world's energy consumption has been fueled by crude oil, making it one of the most significant fuel sources. Oil shocks have a variety of effects on macroeconomic activities. Sharp swings in the price of oil put off corporate investment because they increase uncertainty, which temporarily lowers output. Analyzing the trends in crude oil prices is essential for guiding the economy's policy and decision-making. This paper tries to forecast the volatility of oil prices for the future and map the trends in oil prices due to a radical shift in the geopolitical dynamics. We tried to create the volatility model for returns before and after 2008 crisis and find which model has more persistent long-term volatility. A plain vanilla GARCH model has been fitted for this purpose.","PeriodicalId":103733,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Sustainable Islamic Business and Finance (SIBF)","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133806656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
