It is essential to comprehend the operational principles and degradation mechanisms of batteries across multiple scales to propel the research on rechargeable batteries for the next generation forward. Microstructure, phase information, and lattice of energy materials in both two dimensions and three dimensions can be intuitively obtained through the utilization of x-ray imaging techniques. Additionally, x-ray imaging technology is increasingly gaining attention due to its non-destructive nature and high penetrative capability, enabling <italic toggle=\"yes\">in situ</italic> experiments and multi-scale spatial resolution. In this review, we initially overview the basic principles and characteristics of several key x-ray imaging technologies. Each x-ray imaging technology is tailored to specific application scenarios. Furthermore, examples of multi-scale implementations of x-ray imaging technologies in the field of rechargeable batteries are discussed. This review is anticipated to augment the comprehension of readers for x-ray imaging techniques as well as to stimulate the development of novel concepts and approaches in rechargeable battery research.","PeriodicalId":10344,"journal":{"name":"Chinese Physics Letters","volume":"18 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":3.5,"publicationDate":"2024-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142206939","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This raises the question of whether the superconducting transition temperature <italic toggle=\"yes\">T</italic><sub>c</sub> could be further enhanced under suitable conditions. One possible route for achieving higher <italic toggle=\"yes\">T</italic><sub>c</sub> is element substitution. Similar SC could appear in the <italic toggle=\"yes\">Fmmm</italic> phase of rare-earth (RE) R<sub>3</sub>Ni<sub>2</sub>O<sub>7</sub> (RNO, R = RE element) material series under suitable pressure. The electronic properties in the RNO materials are dominated by the Ni 3<italic toggle=\"yes\">d</italic> orbitals in the bilayer NiO<sub>2</sub> plane. In the strong coupling limit, the SC could be fully characterized by a bilayer single 3<italic toggle=\"yes\">d</italic><sub><italic toggle=\"yes\">x</italic><sup>2</sup>–<italic toggle=\"yes\">y</italic><sup>2</sup></sub>-orbital <italic toggle=\"yes\">t</italic>–<italic toggle=\"yes\">J</italic><sub>∥</sub>–<italic toggle=\"yes\">J</italic><sub>⊥</sub> model. With RE element substitution from La to other RE element, the lattice constant of the <italic toggle=\"yes\">Fmmm</italic> RNO material decreases, and the resultant electronic hopping integral increases, leading to stronger superexchanges between the 3<italic toggle=\"yes\">d</italic><sub><italic toggle=\"yes\">x</italic><sup>2</sup>–<italic toggle=\"yes\">y</italic><sup>2</sup></sub> orbitals. Based on the slave-boson mean-field theory, we explore the pairing nature and the evolution of <italic toggle=\"yes\">T</italic><sub>c</sub> in RNO materials under pressure. Consequently, it is found that the element substitution does not alter the pairing nature, i.e., the inter-layer s-wave pairing is always favored in the superconducting RNO under pressure. However, the <italic toggle=\"yes\">T</italic><sub>c</sub> increases from La to Sm, and a nearly doubled <italic toggle=\"yes\">T</italic><sub>c</sub> could be realized in SmNO under pressure. This work provides evidence for possible higher <italic toggle=\"yes\">T</italic><sub>c</sub> R<sub>3</sub>Ni<sub>2</sub>O<sub>7</sub> materials, which may be realized in further experiments.","PeriodicalId":10344,"journal":{"name":"Chinese Physics Letters","volume":"57 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":3.5,"publicationDate":"2024-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142207060","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a novel scenario and technique to restore the optical image in turbulent environmental by referring to Cyclopean image with binocular vision. With human visual intelligence, image distortion resulting from the turbulence is shown to be substantially suppressed. Numerical simulation results taking into account of the atmospheric turbulence, optical image system, image sensors, display and binocular vision perception are presented to demonstrate the robustness of the image restoration, which is compared with a single channel planar optical imaging and sensing. Experiment involving binocular telescope, image recording and the stereo-image display is conducted and good agreement is obtained between the simulation with perceptive experience. The employment of double quantum dots in conjunction with a phonon reservoir positions them as promising candidates for quantum thermoelectric diodes and transistors. We illustrate that quantum coherence yields significant charge and Seebeck rectification effects. It is worth noting that, while the thermal transistor effect is observable in the linear response regime, especially when phonon-assisted inelastic processes dominate the transport, quantum coherence does not enhance thermal amplification. However, the influence of the most electronegative fluorine on the CoSb3 band remains unclear. We carry out density-functional-theory calculations and show that the valence band maximum gradually shifts downward with the increase of fluorine filling, lastly the valence band maximum converges to the highly degenerated secondary valence bands in fluorine-filled skutterudites. The effective degeneracy near the secondary valence band promotes more valleys to participate in electric transport, leading to a carrier mobility of more than the threefold and nearly twofold effective mass for F0.1Co4Sb12 compared to Co4Sb12. This approach primarily relies on a multi-control single-target quantum phase gate. The scheme offers operational simplicity, requiring only a single step, while ensuring verifiability through the measurement of a single qubit phase information to obtain the voting results. It provides voter anonymity, as the voting outcome is solely tied to the total number of affirmative votes. Our quantum voting machine also has scalability in terms of the number of voters. Additionally, the physical realization of the quantum voting machine is general and not limited to circuit quantum electrodynamics. Quantum voting machine can be implemented as long as the multi-control single-phase quantum phase gate is realized in other physical systems. Manipulation of quantum coherence of light in the temporal domain enables the production of the single-photon source, which has become one of the most important quantum resources. High-order quantum coherence in the spatial domain plays a crucial role in a variety of applications, such as quantum imaging, holography, and microscopy. However, the active control of second-order spatial quantum coherence remains a challenging task. Here we predict theoretically and demonstrate experimentally the first active manipulation of second-order spatial quantum coherence, which exhibits the capability of switching between bunching and anti-bunching, by mapping the entanglement of spatially structured photons. Valley-based topological zero-line modes have attracted widespread attention due to their substantial advantage of being initially realizable with just an external electric field. However, the uncontrollable nature of electrode alignment and precise fabrication has greatly hindered the advancement in this field. By utilizing minimally twisted bilayer graphene and introducing exchange fields from magnetic substrates, we successfully realize a spin-resolved, electrode-free topological zero-line mode. Further integration of electrodes that do not require alignment considerations significantly enhances the tunability of the system’s band structure.
