The first two stages of work, not discussed in this article, included case studies of 6 successfully operating foreign and domestic transhipment terminals and an analysis of the supply and demand for transport in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship. The third stage, the results of which are presented in this article, involved the identification of the most important national centres generating supply and demand for transport within a radius of 280 km from the Hub. Data, allowing to estimate the potential demand for the fright transport on the analysed routes and their costs depending on the mode of transport, came mainly from the Central Statistical Office, the Railway Transport Office, the General Board of National Roads, the National Bank of Poland and Port of Gdynia and Gdańsk Authorities.Results: The data show that in the period covered by the forecast (2019-2034), the most important change in the transport model of the Hub service area will be a significant increase in inland waterways transport of the Vistula River.Conclusions: The forecast operation of the last mile for the Bydgoszcz Logistics Hub justifies the reloading, storage and forwarding of goods in the area of the Bydgoszcz-Toruń agglomeration. The construction of the Bydgoszcz Logistic Hub will bring improvement to the already existing road links leading to the most important logistic centres, located, on the one hand, in the Tricity seaports, on the other hand, in large economic centres in Poznań, Łódź and Warsaw.Keywords: Baltic Sea Region, combine transport, logistics hub, last milePaper type: Research paper","PeriodicalId":103376,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Positive Management","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130980993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both categories are among the most popular and practical issues in management science, fitting into the resource-based view of the firm. They should be consciously worked out in the company and both have the potential to become sources of sustainable competitive advantages. Despite a good study of the two issues in the literature, little attention has been paid to their relationship. The author has attempted to do so believing that it will contribute to further empirical research. A case study of a leading Polish sanatorium company, Uzdrowisko Ciechocinek S.A., which is in the process of permanent and purposeful organizational changes, was used. The study population consisted of staff working in the NTCs purposely or randomly selected. The self-administered questionnaire was used to collect the data that was analysed using both descriptive and inferential analysis.Findings: The research findings showed that programmes disruptions (r = 0.496); funding disruptions (r = .403) and capacity gap (r = .556) are moderately significant and positively associated with NTC performance respectively. Overall, the variables studied explain 33.9 percent of the variation in the organizational performance of NTCs.Implications/limitations: The research findings have shown that whereas programme disruptions and capacity gaps significantly contributed to the explanation of performance in NTCs during the lockdown, funding disruptions do not. Przeprowadzono analizę danych wtórnych w postaci raportów polskich spółek giełdowych produkujących urządzenia elektroniczne za lata 2019 i 2021 pod kątem rotacji zapasów. Rok 2019 traktowany jest jako bazowy, tj. jeszcze przed pandemią Covid-19. Z kolei rok 2021 prezentuje okres, w którym producenci urządzeń elektronicznych doświadczali już istotnych opóźnień w dostawach półprzewodników. W odniesieniu do źródeł pierwotnych zostały przeprowadzone wywiady z jednym producentem półprzewodników i trzema producentami urządzeń elektronicznych. \u0000Wyniki: Wzrost popytu na komponenty elektroniczne, wydłużenie czasów dostaw i ograniczenie ich dostępności spowodowało, iż producenci urządzeń elektronicznych w obawie przed postojami produkcyjnymi zwiększyli swoje zakupy i zapasy, tym bardziej nakręcając spiralę popytu i niedobory komponentów. First, it intends to describe workers’ psychological empowerment in a sample of Portuguese workers. Secondly, to describe empowering leadership perceived by employees about their hierarchical superiors. Finally, to examine the relationships between psychological empowerment dimensions and empowering leadership dimensions.Method: A cross-sectional survey design was adopted with a convenience sample of Portuguese workers (N = 125). Cronbach’s alpha was utilized to examine the reliability of the dimensions. Pearson’s correlation coefficient and simple linear regressions were used to analyze the association between empowering leadership and psychological empowerment dimensions.Measuring Instruments: Spreitzer’s Psychological Instrument and the Empowering Leadership Scale were administered.Main findings: The results revealed significant and positive correlations between empowering leadership and psychological empowerment dimensions, especially employee self-determination.Implications/limitations: This research demonstrates that leaders can have an active role in increasing employee psychological empowerment, which can be an antecedent of positive employee attitudes and work outcomes. It is suggested in future studies to use more extensive and more representative samples. Furthermore, longitudinal and experimental research designs will verify if there is a significant causal relationship between empowering leadership and psychological empowerment.Value of the paper: This study empirically confirms that empowering leadership is associated with employees’ psychological empowerment among Portuguese workers.Keywords: empowering leadership, psychological empowerment, Portuguese workers, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, linear regressionType of paper: Research paper","PeriodicalId":103376,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Positive Management","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123758216","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Empirical research was conducted in the third quarter of 2020 using an on-line questionnaire, based on the deliberate selection of respondents.Findings: The analysis of the results focused on promotional activities that the examined entity should keep or develop on the pages of selected social networks. Acquiring new fans was indicated as the best-rated activities of the University, which directly translates into the visibility and range of the generated content. According to the respondents, the surveyed entity should publish content more often via social media in order to build lasting relationships with the immediate environment.Implications: According to the respondents, the University should publish more content on the Internet. It also demonstrates the positive impact of tension resulting from the cognitive consideration of simultaneous contradictions (as opposed to the traditional conviction that such cognitive dissonance isexperienced as uncomfortable and reduced). Additionally, this article highlights the positive impact of a paradox mindset on augmenting teams’ and institutions’ creativity and performance. It also documents a method of evaluating the propensity for embracing contradictions (i.e., a paradox mindset).Design/methodology/approach: This article documents the construction and validation of an assessment tool, i.e., the Influence of Contradictions Questionnaire (ICQ), for evaluating the level of propensity for a paradox mindset.Findings: In the validation process (n = 120 Anglophonic sample), the ICQ proved to have positive psychometric parameters (discrimination power and reliability).Social implications: The ICQ can be used for scientific purposes, e.g., for comparison between segments of society or for finding possible correlations with other personality traits (e.g., empathy).
