Acharjee","doi":"10.1109/PICC.2018.8384745","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/PICC.2018.8384745","url":null,"abstract":"In this paper, a modified crow search algorithm (MCSA) is proposed for obtaining the optimal size and site of different types of distributed generations (DG) and distributed static compensator (DSTATCOM) in a 51-bus practical distribution system (PDS) with an aim to improve system voltage, reduce line losses, maximize economic benefit, and decrease the pollution level. Logical and innovative formulas are developed to measure the technical, economic, and environmental impact of these devices. In the modified version of CSA (MCSA), the control parameters are logically tuned to make them adaptive with the iteration. The optimal allocation for each type of device is conducted at different load levels and their techno-economic and environmental performances are accomplished to identify the most suitable device for PDS. In this paper a novel universal power converter has been proposed with a simple switching structure which is formed by the reduction of device count as compared to individual conventional converters. Further, it will give the most economic operation with less complexity and compact in size. This converter can be configured as dc-dc, dc-ac and ac-dc conversion. The operation of the proposed converter in all configurations have been discussed. Hence, alignment of the coils and their structures decides the performance of the overall system. In this paper, a four coil WPT system has been experimentally designed based on the dimensions suitable for LVAD system. The analytical design approach of the system and its parameters are presented in the paper. The performance of the four-coil system is tested at distinct air gaps between the coils and for various source frequencies. The lateral misalignment tolerance of the designed system is also tested for various coil-coil distances. The work presented in this paper, is mainly focused on the analysis of effect of coil structure on various parameters of the WPT system. For taming the erratic nature of renewable energy sources (RES), this paper provides the analysis of the three different configurations of ES. In this paper, the work is focused on the performance comparison of the three different versions of ES namely ES-1, ES-2 and Back-to Back ES (ES-B2B). The structure of different configuration is also explained. For a known span of the voltage deviation the quantity requirement for all configurations to provide the required voltage compensation is compared. It turns out that the ES-B2B configuration is highly effective in achieving the voltage regulation than the other two configurations of ES. The ES-2 configuration overcomes the limitation of ES-1 whereas ES-B2B configuration broadens the operating capability of ES-1. Also, multilevel inverter based ES configuration is simulated to demonstrate the feasibility of multilevel inverter and use of multiple ES in the grid. Researchers have been focusing on improved topologies and control strategies in order to enhance the performance of solar grid-tied inverters, especially during grid faults. This paper presents a simple yet accurate control strategy for three-level four-wire grid-tie inverters for real and reactive power injection which operates satisfactorily under distorted grid conditions. Independent control of the input and output side is obtained by using two-stages, with boost converter obtaining maximum power from the solar panels, and inverter injecting this power into the grid with grid standards being met. A DC link balancing technique using proportional controller is also presented. Synchronous behavior in DC micro-grids (MGs) can be achieved by means of the coupling of these subsystems under the condition of parameters mismatch. The method of detuning of one or more internal parameters in a statically coupled system can give rise to amplitude death (AD), a coupling induced stabilization of a dynamical system. This coupling technique has the advantage that this provides an open-loop stability solution for DC-DC converters in a DC MG in the presence of CPLs. The bifurcation analysis shows that the small detuning of parameters under strong coupling eliminates the standard oscillatory behavior from the large region of the parameter space, where the dominance of the AD can be observed. And this AD dominance produces a reliable dynamical control mechanism in the general case of coupled nonlinear oscillators. Voltage stability index (VSI) is applied to determine the weaker zones of the DN and considering that zones only, the optimal placement is performed. Innovative indexes are developed to measure the techno-environmental impact of these devices. In the modified version of SFLA (MSFLA), new frog leaping rules are formulated to improve the convergence characteristics of standard SFLA. The proposed MSFLA is conducted for the optimal placement of these devices at different load levels and the techno-environmental performances are accomplished to identify the most suitable device for DN. Power supply systems in the aircrafts usually utilize a high voltage dc bus, but the fly-wire control systems consist of electro-magnetic actuators generally works in low voltages (24V–30V). The proposed converter can provide a much lower output voltage with a moderate duty ratio, instead of an extremely short duty ratio. It also reduces the voltage stress across the switches and diodes and thus efficiency of the converter is improved. Pre-requisite for the above mentioned advantages is the pre-charging of blocking capacitors. In this paper, a novel concept of pre-charging using a snubber circuit is proposed thereby avoiding a dedicated circuitry for pre-charging. The snubber circuit takes care of pre-charging at start and snubber function for the rest of the operation. This paper also explores some other advantages of the proposed topology. The comparisons show that the number of switches, blocked voltage on switches and the number of dc sources are reduced.
