It is based on a synchrophasor measurements approximation using the generator rotor swing equation. The input includes the measurements of the generator active power and rotor angle during electromechanical transients. The approach was validated by means of a mathematical simulation, experiments on the physical model and using field measurements during transients in the power system. Different types of ANN input data were considered such as temperature, precipitation and historical water inflow. Performance of the hourly inflow forecasts was assessed based on a case study of a specific hydropower reservoir in Latvia. The attention is mostly focused on mathematical models, based on the binominal and Poisson distributions, Poisson failure flows and characteristic functions of random variables. The reduction procedures result in the disturbance of integer number of units in operation. It was shown that it is appropriate to carry out rounding-off and following correction of probabilistic indices using the criteria of capacities at hand and expected values of generation tripped equality. As a result of models comparison the preference is made for models, based on the binominal and Poisson distributions. Sauhatas","doi":"10.1109/RTUCON.2016.7763108","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/RTUCON.2016.7763108","url":null,"abstract":"The paper uses daily historical data on electricity prices in the Latvian segment of Nord Pool power market in combination with wind speed measurements conducted in the north-western part of the country in order to perform revenue forecast for a wind power generator park and access the economic feasibility of such projects in Latvia. The forecast of revenues is based on two stochastic differential equation models calibrated on the historical data of wind speed and electricity prices. Pre-testing procedures suggest that mean reverting Vasicek model can be used for wind speed modelling, while electricity price development is better described by a mean reverting model with jump diffusion. Monte Carlo simulation approach is used to generate the distribution of forecasted revenues and estimate project returns taking into consideration the cost structure and technical characteristics of an existing wind power plant in Latvia. The results of the study show that, given the historical market prices of electricity, wind energy potential on the north-western part of Latvia is insufficient to justify the construction of wind energy farms in the region for the considered wind generator type. Studies show that typical for the variable frequency drive (VFD) severe electro-thermal stresses influencing on the windings insulation negatively affect the windings reliability. The need to thoroughly study the impact of influencing factors and to develop possible ways to minimize this impact stipulates the relevance of conducted research. In this paper the influence of the VFD parameters on the level of voltage stresses affecting the insulation of low-voltage induction motor windings is studied. The study of nature and magnitude of electrical stresses was carried out by building a simulation model in the graphical programming environment Matlab Simulink. Firstly, the background of low-pass output line filters for voltage-source inverters (VSI) and current-source inverters (CSI) are provided. Important factors such as filter resonance and damping are explained. Then four different damped CL filter circuits are discussed and the performance of the filter with a grid-connected CSI inverter is analysed. The filter normalisations for the design process are also provided. The criteria for placement of the charging stations park and their number, determined for the three transformer substations based on their utilization have been established. The studies were conducted using a Simiilink virtual model.
