Molotilov, a student of the Imperial Tomsk University, a member of the Tomsk Society for the Study of Siberia and the Improvement of its Way of Life in the field of the study of archaeological sites in the Barabinsk forest-steppe in 1912. In the northern part of Baraba and on the coast and islands of Lake Chany, he investigated archaeological sites, including the now famous Voznesenskoye, Chinyaikha, Tyumen settlements, etc. A.N. Molotilov professionally describes the studied objects and is considered one of the first to think about the protection of archaeological heritage. The location of many of the sites discovered by A.N. Molotilov is still unknown. However, the results of his work remain relevant to this day. The article also suggests the possible location some of archeological sites discovered of A.N. Molotilov.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139371264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Only in the last decade, objects of ancient rock art have become known here, most of which are difficult to access — removed from the Selenga coast, and located high above the river level, which makes it difficult to find them. All currently discovered rock carvings in this area and the immediate vicinity are painted with ocher of various shades. Many of the rock paintings are poorly preserved and are visible on the reddish surface of syenite and granite rocks in the form of indistinguishable spots, which makes their simple visual examination impossible. To study such rock carvings, the method of digital processing of their photographs was used, which makes it possible to reveal the contours of ancient drawings. One of these objects is an archaeological site, called Kamennaya Baba, after the name of the rocky peak located nearby. More than half of the drawings of this locality are not visually distinguishable, and the general layout of the entire rock panel, without special research methods, cannot be traced. While studying the archaeological object, an opinion was proposed about the appearance of individual drawings on the surface of the rock at different times. This opinion is confirmed by various stylistic features of the drawings, as well as their varying degrees of preservation. The drawings found on the surface of the rock belong to the Selenga type of ancient images, among which anthropomorphic and ornithomorphic images form the basis.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"14 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139371495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The studies were carried out within the framework of the historical and cultural approach according to the method of A.A. Bobrinsky. The main task was to determine the specifics of cultural traditions in the selection of raw materials, the preparation of molding masses, the features of the working edge of ornaments by their imprints and a comparative analysis of the data obtained. The study was conducted of 22 specimens, belonging to five cultural and chronological groups of the Neolithic — Bronze Age: Kiprinskaya, Krokhalevskaya, Odinovskaya and Krotovskaya, the fifth group combines ceramics with an unclear cultural attribution of the early — developed Bronze Age. Most of the fragments come from open or conditionally closed (pits, ditch) archaeological contexts, and most oft en from the soil layer. It has been established that for the manufacture of ceramics, ferruginous clays with different amounts of natural sand impurities were used. 8 recipes for the composition of molding masses have been recorded. Clay + grus + organic solution prevails. The local traditions include the addition of crushed stone, and the brought ones — fireclay. In the earliest ceramic groups of the site, an unusual tradition of adding animal hair was revealed, which has analogies on the sites of the northern foothills of the Altai and other territories in the Neolithic and Early Bronze Ages. The highest degree of similarity was noted for the Kiprinskaya and Krokhalevskaya vessels with ceramic complexes of the northern foothills of the Altai, the Upper Ob region and the north of the Kulunda steppe, both in terms of the composition of the molding masses and the tools for applying the ornament. The data obtained are of great importance for the characterization of the ceramic complexes of the Neolithic — Early Bronze Age in Siberia.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"14 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139371933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Practically in all river valleys of the region there are various irrigation systems corresponding to the capabilities of technology and the organization of social labor of certain historical periods. Here you can observe all the stages of irrigation development. According to В.А. Latynin’s classification, it is the stage of early irrigated agriculture, the stage of the simplest types of irrigation channels that turn into complex fan irrigation systems. The presence of the rudiments of agriculture in the Neolithic is evidenced by the finds of pollen of cultivated barley aged 6–5 thousand years in the valley of the Small Yenisei, made by S.B. Potakhin. Mining and ore production contributed to the development of agriculture in the Bronze Age — there are large copper deposits in the bowels of Tuva. According to the conducted research, developed irrigated agriculture existed in this territory in the Xiongnu period (Ubsunur basin, SOAN-9199; East Tuva Highlands, SOAN-9201). In 2022, radiocarbon dating was obtained for the first time, confirming the presence of irrigated agriculture in Tuva in the 1st millennium BC, Scythian-Saka time.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139371667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was revealed that this type of tableware was made by the Irmen population quite rarely. A comparative analysis of the distribution of jugs in various territories showed their more frequent use by the population of the northeastern part of the Irmen world, formed on the basis of the previously existing Elovo culture here. Special attention in the conducted research is paid to the context of finding jugs within settlements and burial mounds. It was shown that vessels of this type in some cases were not broken and discarded dishes. The y were often placed several copies together and in specially designated places, obviously playing a certain role in ritual practice. The peculiarity of vessels of this type was also manifested in the specifi c ornamentation, indicating their special purpose.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"83 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139372002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Details of the bridle were found in the graves of ten adults buried with a riding horse. The published collection of things included metal (mainly iron) products of various functional and decorative purposes: bits, cheek-pieces, buckles, badges, tips and distributors of belts, clasps, trench coats, fasteners, lining of the neckpiece. A morphological analysis of the indicated objects was carried out, as well as their comparison with elements of horse equipment from the complexes of the Bulan-Koby culture and sites of the Great Migration period excavated in adjacent territories. The general and special features of the manufacture of various bridle accessories by the population of Altai in the second half of the 4th–first half of the 5th centuries AD are revealed. The analyzed sources demonstrate the influence of the material traditions of the nomads of Central Asia in the second quarter of the 1st millennium AD, as well as the local heritage of the Bulan-Koby culture, on the appearance of the outfit of the riding horse of the Rouran period. It has been established that some modifications of bits, cheek-pieces, plaques and distributors also existed at the initial stages of the development of the culture of the early medieval Turks in Altai.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"48 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139371279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The work is based on the representative archaeological collections of the multi-layer sites of Karama, Ust-Karakol, Kara-Bom and caves Denisova, Kaminnaya, Okladnikova, Chagyrskaya, Strashnaya, as well as other Paleolithic sites. The geological characteristics of the study area are given, the factors that influenced the quality of raw materials are considered. Particular attention is paid to the criteria that could guide the ancient human in the selection of raw materials from pebble sources. The problem of the relationship between the petrophysical properties of one or another type of raw material and the technical and typological appearance of lithic industries is discussed. We concluded that the ancient population of Altai, starting from the Early Paleolithic, manufactured the tools using good knowledge of the raw materials specifc features and the skills of its selection.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"277 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139371904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the Late Pleistocene, this territory was influenced by local glaciers which were developed along the rivers’ valleys. . Glaciers played an important role in the strategy of human development of the territory of the Oka Plateau, for long periods of time making inaccessible the numerous valleys of the tributaries of the Oka River, the main water artery of the Oka Plateau. Starting from the end of the Pleistocene and throughout most of the Holocene, volcanic activity intensified in the upper reaches of the Zhobolok (a tributary of the Oka). The poured lava flows advanced into the Oka valley and blocked the river, creating a natural dam. As a result, a vast dammed paleolake was formed above the dam. After the natural situation stabilized, the shores of the paleolake were actively developed during the Holocene optimum. It was the settlement of the people whose material culture finds many analogies among the archaeological materials of the Angara region. In 2021, a series of Neolithic sites were discovered in the area of Zun Nomto-Gol. During the study of these sites, the frequency and sequence of development of the shores of the ancient lake were established. The fact of a gradual decrease in the level of the dammed lake at an early stage of its existence (the Neolithic era according to archaeological periodization) has also been established. Later, the water level in the lake decreased dramatically and many ancient sites turned out to be high above the water, which led to the cessation of the development of previously inhabited areas.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116609075","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
