This relates to the beginning of the discussion, started by I.V. Kovtun, about the cultures of the Late Bronze Age in the Upper Ob region. The Elovka settlement, which is one of the main sites for the archaeology of the Late Bronze Age of this region, unfortunately, has been studied only by excavations, but not in the office. Therefore, colleagues may have a misconception about the cultural and chronological settlement complexes of this site, which can lead to misinterpretation of the materials. Partially correcting this situation, the author publishes materials from the excavations by V.I. Matyushchenko 1982. This article discusses a small collection of bone cheek-pieces found in 1982 by V.I. Matyushchenko during the excavations of the Elovka settlement. It should be noted that cheek-pieces are missing at both Elovka burial grounds. By analogy with the settlement of Kamenny Log-I (Middle Yenisei), its can be dated to the 10th–9th centuries BC. This may be important for dating of some sections of the settlement. Blanks and whole products testify to the process of their manufacture, starting with cutting the bone and ending with polishing. Some technological details suggest the presence of specialized tools. For example, thin drills (from 2.2 mm in diameter). Straps of different widths were used to fasten cheek-pieces.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"156 Suppl 1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139346757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the example of the materials of TetiushiII hillfort located on the right bank of the Volga, the author gives arguments confirming this thesis. Having been studied for six seasons since 2007, Tetiushi-II hillfort has a unique stratigraphy which made it possible to identify the chronological stages of its existence, as well as to determine the peak of its functioning — the second half of the 6th — first half of the 7th centuries. The hillfort, as well as the settlement adjacent to it from the side facing the enemy, belongs to the Imen’kovo culture. A clear layout of the hillfort was recorded: an industrial site with furnaces and melting pits in the northern part of this settlement, an area of craft workshops and residential estates in the southern part of the site near the rampart. The population of the hillfort was engaged in crafts, trade, and had a developed system of cults and was multi-ethnic.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"35 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139343686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Reconstruction is carried out on a virtual 3D model — a digital copy of a real object obtained by photogrammetry. For reconstruction, it is enough to have a small area of a real object with well-defined radii of curvature. The smaller the plot, the more variants of the restored forms will be and the more they will differ from each other. The restored parts can be printed on a 3D printer and complement the existing object. This technology can help the researcher in reconstruction and in assessing the adequacy and geometric correctness of the products, he is restoring. This is especially important when a large volume of the reconstruction object is lost, when the restorer does not see the full geometry of the object. The proposed method is a special case of the method of mathematical modeling, the purpose of which is not to replace the experience of a specialist, but to provide him with a tool that allows him to delve more deeply into the essence of the studied phenomena.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"34 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139343647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The site was excavated by A.P. Okladnikov in 1950’s, G.E. Markov in 1970’s.The archaeological materials from the excavations were divided between the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (materials from 1950’s) and Moscow State University (materials from 1970’s). This research is based on the chipped stones stored in the Moscow State University. The analyzed assemblage characterized by bladelet industry, and toolkit consisting end, side-scrapers, perforetors, notch/denticulate tools and single lunates, points and backed tools. Presents characteristics allow us to attribute lower layer to Mesolithic and upper layer to Neolithic periods of Eastern Caspian culture. However, the degree of study of such products leaves much to be desired, although their information potential is beyond doubt. In this case, not only quantitative indicators and qualitative characteristics are important, but also the implementation of the program of interdisciplinary analysis, as well as the history of detection. The article examines the process of accumulating information about the fi nds of the clay vessels at the initial stage of excavation of the sites of the Pazyryk culture. From 1865 to 1929, expeditions led by V. V. Radlov, N.M. Yadrintsev, S.I. Rudenko and other researchers explored the Altai Region. In the course of this work, a lot of information was obtained, which is still in demand today. The results of the first analytical conclusions and their interpretation are noted. Color illustrations of some jugs are given. It is noted that some finds could not be found in the museum collections. There are problems with the level of publication materials, which requires additional archival research.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"109 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139371368","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The composition of the raw materials and molding masses of 18 samples was studied. It was found that most of the vessels were made of medium-hard plastic clays. In total, two recipes for composing molding masses have been identifi ed: clay + chamotte + organic solution, clay + chamotte + organics. Comparison of the data obtained with the result of earlier studies of the materials of the monument allows us to speak of a high degree of uniformity of the Andronovo ceramic complex of the Firsovo-15 settlement. A comparative analysis of the results with the available information on the technology of making ceramics of other Andronovo settlements of Altai demonstrates some originality of the studied complex. It consists in a small variety of recorded recipes, as well as in the presence of the only one type of mineral impurity in the studied sample. The results obtained indicate that the population who left this site had stable traditions in the selection of raw materials and the composition of molding masses, as well as its cultural unity.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139371578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this region, similar items are not only rare (exhibits of the Minusinsk and Abakan museums), but are also markers of the northern border of the distribution of these items in the Mongolian time. The сlarity of the decoration details of the product gives every reason to consider it far from being the latest copy from the original. Sufficiently good preservation of the images on the mirror (epigraphics, fantastic animals and floral decorations) makes it possible to analyze in detail not only individual artistic details, but also to make a probable attribution of the origin and chronology of this object. The peculiarities of the style of the Kufic inscription and images of sphinxes make it possible to date the mirror no later than the 11th–12th centuries, and also to include it in the circle of objects produced in Iran or Central Asia. The absence of such imported items in the south of Western Siberia north of the middle reaches of the Yenisei River is probably due to the historical features of the cultural ties of the medieval population in the initial period of the 2nd millennium AD. Overall, the new find of a mirror with a Kufic inscription and a paired image of the sphinxes on the background of a floral ornament makes it possible to clarify the local and general features of the distribution of such items in Eurasia in the Middle Ages. This, in turn, provides certain grounds for reconstructing the dynamics of the changes in the external relations of Southern Siberia over the past millennium.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"116 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139372050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The size characteristics, sex and age composition of slaughtered animals are reconstructed. The entire studied sample comes from the cattle of the uniform size. There are bones of cows and bulls. The cattle were kept in the posad of Berezov throughout the entire period under review. The animals were kept for the local population needs on private farmsteads. The main direction of cattle exploitation was milk production. The slaughter of bulls and cows for meat was of a secondary nature. Difficult conditions of detention affected the life expectancy of the cattle, which rarely exceeded the age of six. Throughout the studied period homogeneous low-growing livestock with a height at the withers of 97–118 cm were kept on the town territory. Local cattle were noticeably smaller than the cattle from Siberian towns and were close to the breed of cattle from the European part of Russia.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139371497","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Sukhotinskaya workshop has been known since the 1970s. For the first time it is mentioned in the scientific reports of I.I. Kirillov as a place of collection of numerous lifting material. For the first time, a test pit at the site was laid in 2013, and in 2019 it was expanded. In the course of these works, at the base of the section, a processed horn rod of Procapra gutturosa of an average degree of preservation was found, which was subjected to functional analysis. In the course of studying the object under binocular and metallographic microscopes, five microsections were identified on the largely destroyed treated surface of the horn rod, which retained individual areas of focal micropolishing and thin linear traces directed along the axis of processing. The direction vector of these microtraces coincides with the visual profile of the horn rod processed into a wedge by cutting. These areas are preserved on the heights of the furrowed surface in places where the bone substance of the horn shaft has not undergone significant changes. Of particular interest are individual microchip of hornfels and micaceous rock/pyrite, which are stuck directly in the bone substance at an angle of about 30°, which clearly indicates the angle and direction of processing. Based on the results of the functional analysis of the tool, an extraordinary tool was determined, carrying two generations of trimming by cutting off the knocked-off edge.","PeriodicalId":102105,"journal":{"name":"Teoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy","volume":"45 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139371687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
