This phenomenon occurs worldwide and provides individuals more flexibility and convenience in carrying out their daily activities. This article aims to evaluate the intention of adopting a future mobile payment service from the perspective of current Brazilian consumers of mobile phones, based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The survey was carried out with mobile customers of a telecommunications company that operates in southeastern Brazil, with a valid sample of 605 respondents. Using structural equation modeling, 76% of behavioral intention was explained through performance expectation, effort expectation, social influence and perceived risk. Perceived cost was found not statistically significant at the level of 5%. This result serves as a guide to participants in the payments market to develop a service for mobile payments of good performance, easy to use, secure and promotes the action of the social circle of the individual at a fair price, in other words, that meets needs and expectations of today's mobile phone users. As well as serves as a stimulus to the development of communication and marketing strategies that highlight these positive attributes and awaken the intention of adoption of the service by the wider range of people as possible.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":101056,"journal":{"name":"RAI Revista de Administra??o e Inova??o","volume":"13 3","pages":"Pages 221-230"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1016/j.rai.2016.06.003","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130318730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this article is to study how the technological innovation process occurs in small and medium technology-based companies located in the metropolitan region of the Paraíba Valley and North Coast – Brazil. The theoretical framework used is composed by six our models of innovation: the technology push, the market pull, the coupling innovation process, the functional integration innovation process, the systems integration and networking innovation process and open innovation. It was used in this research the multiple case studies with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with owner-managers. The sample consisted of four small and medium technology-based companies of metropolitan region of the Paraíba Valley and North Coast – Brazil. In the data analysis, there was an intra and cross case analysis in order to verify the similarities and differences of the cases studied. As a result of observation of innovation development models adopted by companies, it appears that the model is closer to what was proposed in the chain interactions model. The development of innovation depends on the type of economic activity that is developed by the company and the interactions it has with internal and external environment. It was concluded that the small and medium-sized technology-based companies do not innovate in a systematic way, but intuitively and very focused on the ideas of its founders. They innovate focusing for meeting the requirements of customers and the needs observed in the market. Thereby, with the analysis of quantitative empirical papers related to diffusion and adoption of methods, techniques and tools for innovation, we intend to present a portrait of the empirical research on the topic. The analyzed papers were obtained through a systematic survey on two databases: Scopus and Web of Science. It resulted on a corpus of 18 publications, from which main papers, authors, countries and journals that most published about the theme and the most common keywords were identified. Later, the analysis of papers generated an overview of quantitative empirical research related to the topic and indicated areas for further study, contributing to the development of the subject. The study identified the scarcity of research related to the theme of diffusion and adoption of MTT-I and the concentration of quantitative empirical researches in product development, rather than in other results of innovation, such as services and processes. Methodological variations between studies were also identified, making it impossible to compare different contexts.
