The evolution of a revolutionary programming paradigm that promises to have a profound effect on the way we interact with computers, people and places is well known as Aspect Oriented Programming. Middleware platforms, such as RMI, CORBA, DCOM, J2EE and .NET platform, offer abstractions for the complex distributed environment. Distributed middleware are difficult to build and implement because the distributed frameworks impose a large code overhead due to the specific distributed systems programming conventions. In this paper we implement Aspects with distributed objects technologies and web services and compare the implementation behavior of distributed systems’ programming concepts in comparison to the design of web services based distributed middleware framework. The research challenge involves firstly removing crosscutting concerns by modularizing into separate units named Aspects and secondly implementation and comparison of the three major technologies in the field of distributed systems RMI, CORBA and Web Services.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":100649,"journal":{"name":"IERI Procedia","volume":"7 ","pages":"Pages 71-76"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1016/j.ieri.2014.08.012","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75861560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However many commonly used approaches are feature based methods that look out for important sentences or phrases by observing features or cues. Such feature based methods may end up producing summaries that contain sentences which are similar in meaning, mostly which depend on sentence scoring and hence not a desirable factor. The proposed work takes a machine generated summary as rough summary and uses binomial distribution to identify importance of every sentence in the rough summary. The semantic similarity between sentences is identified and the sentences are removed thereby refining the summary. By eliminating similar sentences the summary is refined so that only informative sentences are left in the summary. The proposed redundancy elimination approach is applied on summaries obtained from an existing summarization system with the fuzzy based summarization model as a case study. Evaluation of the summary refinement approach is done on DUC2002 dataset and the results are promising.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":100649,"journal":{"name":"IERI Procedia","volume":"10 ","pages":"Pages 245-251"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1016/j.ieri.2014.09.084","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89765815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ambient Intelligence (AmI) techniques exploit information about the environment state to adapt the environment itself to the users’ preferences. Even if traditional sensors allow a rough understanding of the users’ preferences, ad-hoc sensors are required to obtain a deeper comprehension of users’ habits and activities. In this paper we propose a framework to recognize users’ activities via the Microsoft Kinect. The approach proposed here takes advantage of the position of some human body parts estimated by using Kinect depth information. In our system, significant patterns of joints (i.e., postures) are discovered by applying a clustering technique and then classified by means of a multi-class SVM. Each activity is then modeled as a sequence of known postures by using HMMs. A prototype has been implemented by connecting the Kinect to a miniature PC with limited computational resources. Experimental tests have been performed on a dataset we collected at our laboratory and results look very promising.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":100649,"journal":{"name":"IERI Procedia","volume":"7 ","pages":"Pages 49-54"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1016/j.ieri.2014.08.009","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79754912","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An executed process produces, in each instance, log files that can be used to reconstruct the actual procedure carried out by the system as well as to highlight deviations or “move” from the mapped path.
