The surveyed group were students of bachelor and master programs of the University of Chemical Technology Prague, the aim was to map the awareness of bioplastics within the group of university students specialized in chemistry in the Czech Republic. The influence of gender and environmental education on decision making was also investigated. It showed that gender influences decision-making on environmental issues, with women giving more weight to sustainability and zero-waste bioplastics, as well as to the potential positive impact of bioplastics on climate change and water pollution reduction. Men are more pragmatic in their decision-making, giving more priority to material and economic aspects. In the case of the influence of vocational education, environmental students showed a greater tendency towards sustainable behaviour. However, given the small sample of environmental respondents, this hypothesis needs to be confirmed by further research.","PeriodicalId":9766,"journal":{"name":"Chemicke Listy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136185411","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Graphene-based materials and their hybrids have been shown to be very promising candidates for meeting these requirements. This short review summarizes recent advances in the development of graphene derivatives and focuses in particular on materials derived from graphite fluoride. Covalent graphene derivatives belong to a progressive class of highly efficient materials with tailorable structural and physicochemical properties that can be adapted to meet specific capacitive charge storage requirements, and, thus, enhance the most effective development of the energy storage field.","PeriodicalId":9766,"journal":{"name":"Chemicke Listy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136185874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the production of microalgal biomass, nutrients contained in wastewater or carbon dioxide in flue gas can be used. Microalgae strains that have adapted to the extreme climatic conditions of polar regions appear to be a suitable alternative to conventional industrially cultivated microalgae species. Nevertheless, technologies for the production of polar microalgae can also be applied in areas of central and eastern Europe where climatic conditions are not suitable for year-round cultivation of conventional microalgae. For isolated polar microalgae species, a photobioreactor able to rotate according to the current position of the sun has been designed. The rotating flat-panel photobioreactor is able to efficiently use the incident solar radiation, which is crucial for microalgae growth. The designed concept of the rotating photobioreactor has been successfully tested in extreme climatic conditions at the Czech Arctic Research Station in Svalbard.","PeriodicalId":9766,"journal":{"name":"Chemicke Listy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136185877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Personalized medicine puts high demands on the accuracy of nucleic acid biomarkers analysis, where subtle differences at the nucleotide level are often involved. Isothermal amplification techniques offer new possibilities of DNA and RNA amplification without using PCR, and their combination with electrochemistry provide a promising fast and cost-effective alternative diagnostic tool. Although electrochemical biosensors are still insufficiently applied to clinical material, thus hindering their development, recent advancements show great promise in translational research. Banks of biological material (biobanks) are specialized workplaces focused on the long-term preservation and processing of clinical material and offer a wide range of expert services, primarily for research purposes, in particular the provision of biological samples and associated pseudonymized data. Their involvement in the field of electrochemical biosensors can facilitate application of electrochemical methods into clinical laboratories and expand the portfolio of currently used diagnostic methods.","PeriodicalId":9766,"journal":{"name":"Chemicke Listy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136184721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even today, ammonia is still being produced using the conventional Haber-Bosch synthesis, which requires high pressures and temperatures and uses fossil fuels, thus producing significant greenhouse gas emissions. This work is therefore focused on the possibility of preparation and research of new materials capable to fix atmospheric nitrogen and convert it to ammonia under mild conditions. Photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, plasmonic structures, and their combinations can be used for such reductions. In addition to that, this study outlines the advances achieved so far, as well as the general background of the subject.","PeriodicalId":9766,"journal":{"name":"Chemicke Listy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136185412","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To pharmacotherapy, it brings a number of advantages. The combination of their size, specific properties of used excipients and a suitable drug can result in a more targeted therapy for some serious diagnoses. However, potential adverse effects are also associated with the subcellular size of the pharmaceutical form, and although research is being conducted with countless excipients and types of nanoparticles, only a small proportion of them have made it into clinical practice. This brief overview discusses these classes, it presents the basic characteristics, classification, and possible clinical use. The article also includes an up-to-date overview of representatives of individual nanoparticle drug delivery classes currently registered in the Czech Republic.","PeriodicalId":9766,"journal":{"name":"Chemicke Listy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136185415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, it enables the transfer of these compounds from biological liquids, such as urine or growth medium, to a simpler solution, suitable for subsequent analyses. In our recently published papers, we focused on the use of epitachophoresis to pretreat the samples containing proteins and DNA. The technique enabled more than seventyfold preconcentration with recoveries reaching more than 90%. The preparative nature of epitachophoresis enables one to subsequently analyse the isolated biomacromolecules by various techniques including mass spectrometry, capillary electrophoresis, gel electrophoresis, ELISA analysis, or new-generation sequencing.
