Supply chain operations have significant impacts on environmental, social and economic issues, and therefore, sustainable supply chains have become an important issue for the companies. Also, Physical Internet (PI) is one of the recent research topics in supply chain literature and it helps to provide sustainability. The contribution of this study to the literature is the comparison of traditional supply chain and Physical Internet supply chain structures with simulation in terms of sustainability. The simulation models are tested on realistic but hypothetical case studies. Each simulation model consists of three echelons (supplier, distribution center and retailer) and is developed by using ARENA 14.0 software. The physical internet and the traditional are compared according to carbon emissions, and the results are discussed in detail.","PeriodicalId":9652,"journal":{"name":"Celal Bayar Universitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi","volume":"32 1","pages":"385-392"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87123872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Microalgae are the carbon source found in crude oil and natural gas. Over the years, there have been several advances in the design and operation of closed photobioreactors for microalgal cultures based on new reactor geometries as well as optimized aeration and mixing strategies. Closed photobioreactors ensure heat control, and high production through effective use of high-intensity light and prevent contamination in microalgae production. One of the most important factors that control cell growth in a photobioreactor is light availability. In this study, cultivation of Chlorella sp ., as microalgae were performed in a specially designed photobioreactor for productivity analysis and the pigment capacity analysis. The applied light energy was kept constant while applying either continuous or intermittent lighting during the growth of microalgae. The cultivation parameters were tested to find the optimal light mode as the continuous light or 12h light/ 12h dark cycle to maximize pigment amount. In order to determine the pigment amount in the cultivated algae extraction was done. Then by using UV spectrophotometer amount of chlorophyll a and b were determined in the obtained extracts.","PeriodicalId":9652,"journal":{"name":"Celal Bayar Universitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi","volume":"51 1","pages":"377-383"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87767721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, changing of functional properties after using welding methods for NiTi alloy samples was targeted. However, two different welding methods were employed for the same alloy and results were compared to each other and commented on them. In the present study, samples were welded with TIG and Laser welding and their cross section was examined in the joint area. Then these samples were examined in optical microscope and SEM. The advantages and disadvantages of both welding methods were reported. The basic distinction of TIG and laser welded samples examined in microscope was the scale of HAZ area of TIG welded piece. Nevertheless, due to more thermal input is applied for materials in TIG welded parts, more molten materials are detected or heat effects are attained in this practice. In laser welding, heat input is less and this can be recognized from the observed micrographs. While HAZ area is obviously distinguished and welding border zone is detached from the base metal. The twin structures were not observed in optical microscope; for that reason they were investigated in SEM to see these twins in laser welded area.","PeriodicalId":9652,"journal":{"name":"Celal Bayar Universitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi","volume":"9 1","pages":"415-421"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74287478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In that study, the findings on some physical and chemical properties of the blends prepared were also presented. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the thermal decomposition kinetics of these prepared blends. For this purpose, thermograms of PANSA doped LDPE blends at four different heating rates were obtained. With the addition of PANSA into LDPE, it was observed that the initial decomposition temperature and maximum decomposition temperature of LDPE increased. Thermal decomposition kinetics of blends were performed using the integral isoconversional methods (Kissinger, Kim-Park (KP), Tang, Kissenger-Akahira-Sunose (KAS) and Flynn-Wall-Ozawa (FWO)) in addition to differential isoconversional method (Friedman method). Thermal decomposition mechanism for blends was proposed with the help of master plot curves.","PeriodicalId":9652,"journal":{"name":"Celal Bayar Universitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi","volume":"15 1","pages":"343-349"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73704890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Equation of motion of the considered system is obtained. For analysing of the system, relatively new perturbation method that is named Multiple Scales Lindstedt Poincare (MSLP) and classical multiple scales (MS) methods are used. Both approximate solutions are compared with the numerical solutions for weakly and strongly nonlinear systems. For weakly nonlinear systems, both approximate solutions are in excellent agreement with numerical simulations. However, for strong nonlinearities, MS method is not give reliable results while MSLP method can provide acceptable solutions with numerical solutions.","PeriodicalId":9652,"journal":{"name":"Celal Bayar Universitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi","volume":"7 1","pages":"201-207"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85486398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several studies have reported that different species of pine genus show cytotoxic activities against various cancer cell lines. In the present study, the possible cytotoxic and apoptotic effects of the endemic Pinus nigra ssp. pallasiana var. seneriana (PS) extract in MCF-7 breast cancer cells were evaluated. Cell viability was determined via XTT assay and verified by live/dead viability/cytotoxicity assay. Apoptotic effect was investigated by mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) assay. Expression of apoptosis related proteins after treatment with PS extract was detected by apoptosis array. PS extract treatment reduced the viability of MCF-7 cells in a time and concentration-dependent manner. Apoptosis was induced and MMP was decreased in MCF-7 cells by 48 h treatment. Bcl-2, cIAP-1, cIAP-2, Survivin and XIAP protein levels were reduced by 2.8-, 3.2-, 2.8-, 2.5- and 2.2- fold, and Bad, Bax, Cytochrome c and SMAC/Diablo protein levels were induced by 4.2-, 3.0-, 3.6-, and 4.0- fold in MCF-7 cells by PS extract treatment. This report describes the cytotoxic and apoptotic effects of the extract of endemic Pinus species on MCF-7 cells for the first time. Although the isolation and structure elucidation of the active compounds is needed to be performed in the further studies, it is likely that PS extract may be a potential candidate for the development of novel therapeutic anticancer compounds for breast cancer.","PeriodicalId":9652,"journal":{"name":"Celal Bayar Universitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi","volume":"SE-13 1","pages":"35-40"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84644568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
