Despite the wide availability and accessibility of contraceptive methods globally, their use remains low among young women in low- and middle-income countries including Ethiopia. One of the reasons young women have reported their non-use of contraceptive methods is that their perceived susceptibility to pregnancy makes them decide not to use or discontinue contraceptive methods. This study aimed to assess perceived susceptibility to pregnancy, contraceptive use, and associated factors among female college students in Fitche Town.","PeriodicalId":92369,"journal":{"name":"Global journal of reproductive medicine","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136221745","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PMS itself is more experienced by women of childbearing age. The prevalence of PMS types in women of childbearing age is done to be able to map the types of PMS so that their magnitude can be found in the population. This research is a descriptive analytic study with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were women of childbearing age (15-49 years) who were in the west Purwokerto subdistrict and Sumbang subdistrict. The number of samples in this study were 101 respondents. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. Collect data using interviews with respondents. Data analysis used binomial test and multinomial regression. The results of the study can be explained that there are differences in the proportion of PMS A, H and D types in the population. There is a difference in the proportion between Type H, PMS C, Type A and Type D depending on the length of time using contraceptive and stress level.","PeriodicalId":92369,"journal":{"name":"Global journal of reproductive medicine","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135422561","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most frequent site of ectopic pregnancy is the fallopian tubes, followed by the ovary, and occasionally can occur within the abdomen. Ectopic pregnancy after hysterectomy has been reported but is extremely rare, making it a diagnostic challenge and increasing the risk of morbidity and mortality. Herein we report the case of a 39-year-old woman who developed an ectopic pregnancy nine years after a sub-total hysterectomy. A literature review was also conducted to explore the available research on this extremely scarce event. The review suggests that the incidence of ectopic pregnancy after hysterectomy is extremely low, but it is a severe and life-threatening condition and requires a high index of suspicion to diagnose it. There is a need to share this case to alert medical practitioners of the potential for ectopic pregnancy after hysterectomy to ensure it is considered when women of childbearing age present with abdominal pain.","PeriodicalId":92369,"journal":{"name":"Global journal of reproductive medicine","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135528320","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

HWW generally occurs at puberty and exhibits variable symptoms including pelvic pain shortly following menarche, dysmenorrhoea, palpable mass due to the associated haematocolpos or haematometra or haemoperitoneum due to retrograde menstruation. Ultrasonography and MRI are extremely useful in the diagnosis and classification of Müllerian duct anomalies. 3D ultrasound is more effective in the diagnosis of uterine malformation. Early detection of this relatively rare syndrome can lead to the provision of immediate treatment to preserve future fertility. We present a rare case report on Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome from Morocco.","PeriodicalId":92369,"journal":{"name":"Global journal of reproductive medicine","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135862488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is classified as an early onset (which occurs < 34 weeks) and late onset (which occurs ≥ 34 weeks). There is an increase of level of antiangiogenic factor of soluble form similar to tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt-1) and decrease of level of proangiogenic placental growth factor (PlGF) at preeclampsia. High ratio sFlt-1/PlGF is connected to occurrence of preeclampsia. Materials and Methods: There was a retrospective study of the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics of the University Clinical Center of Republic of Srpska (KGA UKC RS), which was implemented in period January 1st, 2020 – December 31st, 2021 and which included 224 patients hospitalized at the Department of Perinatology for suspected preeclampsia development, from 26+0 weeks of gestation until birth. One of the key criteria for the inclusion of patients in the study is the use of the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio as a marker for the onset of preeclampsia, and the determination of protein values in 24-hour urine (biuret). The antenatal state of the fetus was also monitored by ultrasound measurement of the flow resistance ratio (Ri) through the middle cerebral artery and the umbilical artery (C/U), as well as the values of the newborn’s Apgar score in the first and fifth minute of life (AS 1 and 5). The patients included in the study were divided into two groups according to gestational age: group 1 (<33+6 NG) and group 2 (≥34NG). For the purposes of the research, data from patient protocol books for the specified period, as well as corresponding data from the Clinical Information System (KIS), were used. Results: Calculated values for cut off 38 for group 1 are: NPV= 76.9%, PPV=72.0%, sensitivity=85.7%, specificity=58.8%, and for group 2 are: NPV= 89 ,1%, PPV=40.8%, sensitivity=72.1%, specificity=68.5%. For cut off 85, the calculated values for group 1 are: NPV= 82.4%, PPV=85.7%, sensitivity=85.7%, specificity=82.4%, and for group 2 they are: NPV= 84.9 %, PPV=70.4%, sensitivity=44.2%, specificity=94.4%. For cutt off 110, the calculated values for group 1 are: NPV= 77.8%, PPV=85%, sensitivity=81%, specificity=82.4%, and for group 2 they are: NPV= 83.5 %, PPV=72.7%, sensitivity=37.2%, specificity=95.8%. The measured value of protein in 24h urine (biuret) in comparison with the measured values of the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio have statistical significance for predicting the onset of preeclampsia. Statistical data processing obtained by examining the measured values of the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio and the antenatal and natal condition of the fetus (C/U and AS 1 and 5) showed statistical significance, except for C/U for group 2, where p=0.32. Conclusion: Determination of the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio as well as biuret and monitoring of the antenatal and postnatal state of the fetus significantly contributes to the timely diagnostic of preeclampsia, which impacts reducing the incidence of undesirable outcomes fo","PeriodicalId":92369,"journal":{"name":"Global journal of reproductive medicine","volume":"228 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134952262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its clinical findings are variable steering its high incidence postmortem. Seldom, thiamine deficiency is present in a clinical triad consisting of cognitive disorder, ocular abnormalities and gait ataxia. Most commonly, the clinical picture is not specific leading to late or misdiagnosis. In pregnant woman with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, incoercible vomiting and poor intake paves the path to thiamine deficiency by depleting B1 storage affecting cerebral energy homeostasis. Ergo, HG leads to neurological complications affecting maternal mortality and morbidity. Case Report: We hereby present the uncommon case of WE complicate HG in 18 weeks’ gestation primigravidae. Diagnosis relied on clinical findings as the clinical picture was typical: confusion, disorientation and memory impairment besides static and kinetic cerebellar syndrome and ophthalmological abnormalities such as unequal pupils and horizontal nystagmus. Biological findings were out of normal range as it showed electrolytes imbalance, dehydration and elevated liver and pancreatic enzymes. Imaging investigations were normal. Treatment was based on intravenous thiamine supplementation and vomiting management. Conclusion: We are a preventable neurological disorder. Prompt treatment and correct dosage in light of the appropriate guidelines enlighten the prognosis and may even lead to remission. Whereas late or non-diagnosis leads to dramatic complications such as Korsakoff’s syndrome. This article aims to raise clinician’s suspicion of WE and emphasizes the importance of preventive thiamine supplementation during pregnancies and prophylactic intravenous thiamine administration in pregnancy with Hyperemesis Gravidarum.","PeriodicalId":92369,"journal":{"name":"Global journal of reproductive medicine","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135904874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is characterized by an enlargement of the right lateral-umbilical level of the viscera. Its frequency is estimated at 1 in 2700 births and its final prognosis is excellent, depending on the ischemic lesions, for which therapeutic management is often limited. No genetic cause is currently incriminated in the genetics of laparoschisis apart from its association with syndromic groups. The diagnosis is suspected prenatally allowing a better therapeutic approach. Its management is essentially surgical in the absence of irreversible ischemic lesions. Here we illustrate the case of a young couple in whom the antenatal diagnosis highlighted the antenatal diagnosis of laparoschisis at 35 SA .in which the cesarean section allowed the extraction of a newborn male with a good Apgar and who immediately underwent an operation to reintegrate the viscera and to close the abdominal defect by the pediatric surgeons. Whilst hESC are pluripotent and therefore an excellent candidate for gamete production, very little progress has been made because of the legal, ethical, moral, and religious objections to creating hESC which requires the destruction of a viable human embryo [5]. Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSC) have a similar history when it comes to IVF. These are somatic cells (e.g., skin cells) which are ‘transformed’ into pluripotent stem cells by the introduction of various genes [6]. These iPSC are pluripotent and autologous, so they have the ability, in theory, to be able to carry out gametogenesis in patients undergoing fertility treatment [7]. The problems with the routine clinical use of iPSC in fertility treatment is the cost but most importantly ongoing safety concerns about iPSC because of the genes needed to be inserted to convert a somatic cell into a stem cell [8]. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) can be obtained from adipose tissue, bone marrow, the umbilical cord and even inside teeth [9]. These MSC stem cells can produce bone, connective tissue and adipose tissue and there are some data suggesting that MSC may be useful in premature ovarian failure [10]. The drawbacks of using MSC in the treatment of infertility are the cost and the standardization of MSC to ensure safety and efficacy [11]. All these stem cell types have their problems when considering their use in the treatment of infertility. It may be many years, if ever, before they come to routine clinical practice in the treatment of infertility.","PeriodicalId":92369,"journal":{"name":"Global journal of reproductive medicine","volume":"482 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135532686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, data from such guidelines are primarily based on randomized controlled trials with highly selected populations that are conducted under very controlled conditions. To complement evidence from clinical guidelines and further improve treatment outcomes, seven Iraqi experts gathered to evaluate opinions on the specific approaches during an IVF cycle in Iraq and developed 15 statements agreed upon: The Iraqi Consensus. A Delphi consensus was conducted to formulate expert opinion on how assisted reproductive technology outcomes could be improved. Step 1 involved the scientific Board, comprising the scientific coordinator, who developed the initial statements and supporting references, which were discussed/amended by seven experts, and refined the final statements and references. Step 2 involved 30 Iraqi experts voted on their level of agreement/disagreement with each statement. Consensus was reached if the proportion of participants agreeing/disagreeing with a statement was >66%. Step 3 data was collected and analyzed then communicated to participating experts. Consensus was achieved for 15 statements with high level of agreement in >85% of statements, tackling follicular development/gonadotropins; pituitary suppression; final oocyte maturation triggering; luteal-phase support. This represents the collective point of view of the experts that took part in the consensus development and are based on local practice.
