Probability and non probability sampling strategies are employed. A total of 146 married women participated in the study. The finding of the study shows that the prevalence of domestic violence in the study area is high. The nature and type of violence are unique and spatial. Husband beating, forced marriage with unmatched age spouse (young girls for elders), the stereotype of girls and women, gender roles that are assigned for only women (all reproductive and productive roles), polygamy, and early marriage are the main ones. The result revealed those women’s accounts of abuse is a complex phenomenon because it includes various forms, ranging from humiliation, threats, and social isolation to forced sex and battering. Violence against women runs along with a range, often escalating from milder forms to more serious acts. The finding indicates that physically abusive men are also psychologically and sexually abusive. Low income, low educational level, the difference in marital status, and age were found to be the main cause of domestic violence. Domestic violence has profound consequences on women’s overall well-being. The experience of domestic violence puts women at greater risk of physical, psychological, and sexual problems. In general, although domestic violence is a serious problem, it is still largely considered as a ‘norm’ and private matter. Thus, in Ethiopia by giving visibility to the experience of DV, all stakeholders should work with a positive spirit on the intervention strategies to save the life of women and girls from such severe victims.","PeriodicalId":92223,"journal":{"name":"International journal of women's health and wellness","volume":"196 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77653023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

That same year, 2.6 million babies were stillborn. Almost all of the maternal deaths (99%), child deaths (98%), Sixty percent of the stillbirths (1.46 million) occurred during the antepartum period and mainly due to untreated maternal infection, hypertension, and poor fetal growth and occurred in lowand middle-income countries. These maternal deaths could have been prevented if the pregnant women or adolescent girls had been able to access quality antenatal care. A high-risk pregnancy refers to anything that situates the mother, fetus, or neonate at increased risk for morbidity or mortality during pregnancy or childbirth, even during postpartum. Methods: Facility based cross-sectional study was conducted to determine the prevalence of high risk among pregnant women. Non-probability, Convenient sampling technique was used to collect the data by using structured, closed ended and pretested questionnaire and the data collection will be conducted by interviewing the study participants. Data was analyzed by using tally sheets and computer. The association between variables was analyzed using Chi-square test. The result was presented in tables and figures. Result: Out of 314 pregnant mothers with response rate of 100% 47 (15.0%) were < 19 years, 261 (83.12%) were 2034 years and 6 (1.9%) were ≥ 35 years. While, 60 (19.1%) of the study participants were primigravida mothers and the rest were multigravida. In addition, 210 (66.9%) were at their first visit in first trimester, 77 (24.5%) were at second trimester, and 27 (8.6%) were at third trimester. Among all, the prevalence of high risk pregnancy was 83 (26.43%). The leading risk factor identified in the index pregnancies were HTN 40 (12.5%), anemia 15 (4.8%), 12 (3.8%) had DM, 9 (2.87%) had APH, 7 (2.2%) had malpresentation. Conclusion: From the total of study participant’s hypertension, anemia, DM, APH and mal presentation founded as the major health problems. Expanding the utilization of antenatal care, early detection, problem identification and management for all pregnant women should be under taken.","PeriodicalId":92223,"journal":{"name":"International journal of women's health and wellness","volume":"3 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90951025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, there are several questions that arise on how prostitution causes the transmission of this sexually transmitted disease. The purpose of writing this article is to study and find out the background of venereal diseases in the Straits Settlements and the causative factors of venereal disease transmission in Straits Settlements (NNS). The results showed that there’s five factors were found to be significantly related to the transmission of venereal diseases in the Straits Settlements in 1884 to 1940. Methods: The approach used in this study is a literature review consisting of research and analysis obtained especially from the National Archives of Malaysia (ANM). The main sources obtained from the National Archives of Malaysia are used as the most important reference in this study such as official documents and files analyzed in this study such as the Annual Reports of the Medical Departments, Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States for the year 1937 by Mac Gregor and few documents are used as the main reference. This article also uses secondary sources such as books, journals and related sources. These resources are very important to explain in more depth about the information gathered from the original files and documents and then complete the published article. Results: The results found that there were two types of venereal diseases identified in the Straits Settlements (NNS) in 1884 to 1940 namely Gonorrhea and Syphilis. Over 60% of men and women were diagnosed with an STD sought medical treatments and there’s 40% who are not going to do a medical treatments which leads to the spread of serious sexually transmitted diseases problems in Straits Settlements. Conclusion: Our study demonstrates that despite of prostitutions activities that leads to spreads of sexually transmitted disease, there’s a few of factors which come from lack of awareness among residents in Straits Settlements at that time and are a potential etiology causes of spreading this venereal diseases. *Corresponding author: Azilzan Mat Enh, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, The National University of Malaysia, Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia Check for updates","PeriodicalId":92223,"journal":{"name":"International journal of women's health and wellness","volume":"157 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77939285","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is an important public health problem in developing country including Ethiopia. Objective: To assess the prevalence and associated factors with maternal near-miss among pregnant women at Hawassa university’s comprehensive specialized hospital, 2020. Method: Health facility-based cross-sectional study was done from May to June 2020. Structured questionnaires were used to collect the data from 316 study participants. The data were entered with Epi data version 4.4 and exported to Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25.0 for analysis. Binary logistic regression was done. Statistical significance was declared at P-values < 0.05 with a 95% CI. Result: The finding of this study revealed that the prevalence of maternal near-miss was 16.1% with 95% CI (12.3, 20.3). Almost half of the underlying cause of maternal near-miss was a hypertensive disorder of pregnancy and nearly 75% of maternal near-miss occurred before arrival to a health facility. Variables such as rural residence [AOR: 4.2, 95% CI (1.3, 13.9)], referred women [AOR: 5.5, 95% CI (1.8, 17.4)], previous history of stillbirth [AOR: 10.2, 95% CI (1.4, 71.8)] and time takes to reach hospital [AOR: 4.8, 95% CI (1.34, 16.9)] were found to be associated factors with maternal near-miss. Conclusion: In this study,the prevalence of maternal nearmiss was relatively high. Being a rural residence, referred women, the time takes to reach the hospital, and the previous stillbirth were the factors independently associated with the occurrence of maternal near-miss. The presence of maternal near-miss in women is an independent risk factor for adverse perinatal outcomes. Strengthening the available health system in rural parts of the country with a focus on maternity service is also a crucial step to avert serious maternal complications. Hence, interventions rendered at the improvement in maternal health can lead to an improvement in perinatal outcomes.","PeriodicalId":92223,"journal":{"name":"International journal of women's health and wellness","volume":"2012 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86369653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We describe a new case of a spontaneous, nontraumatic orbital hematoma after an uncomplicated vaginal delivery. Methods: Retrospective clinical case. Results: A 34-year-old healthy woman, gesta2 para1, complains, after an uncomplicated, term, vaginal delivery, of left ocular pressure associated with double vision. On physical examination, an orbital asymmetry with left eye proptosis and inferior deviation was observed. Ophthalmological examination revealed a left vertical diplopia with normal visual acuity (10/10, bilaterally). Pupils were reactive with no papilledema. Orbital CT diagnosed a homogeneous, hyperdense lesion with 6.5 × 25 × 34 mm on the left upper orbit, suggestive of hematoma (Figure 1). Orbital/cranial MRI, performed two days later, confirmed an intraorbital, extra-conic acute hematoma with 7 mm (maximum diameter), imposing inferior deviation of left ocular globe. Expectant management was adopted and one month after all symptoms and signs had disappeared. Conclusions: Complete regression of orbital hematoma with conservative treatment strongly supports the diagnosis of nontraumatic orbital hemorrhage. *Corresponding author: Sara Nunes, Department of Gynecology & Obstetrics, Centro Hospitalar Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Vila Real, Portugal, Tel: 00351915418111 Check for updates pressure during maternal expulsive efforts [2,3]. There is need to understand the role of women’s socio-demographic positioning and household decision-making autonomy on their health care insurance participation. Method: We analyzed data from a representative sample from the 2016 Senegalese Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) using logistic regression models to examine the association between women’s insurance coverage and socio-demographic correlates including women’s household decision making autonomy. Results: The final study sample included a total of 1308 Senegalese women (age extremes: 15 and 49 years). Most women were 30 to 34 years (23.6%), did not have any formal education (59.4%), could not read at all (67%) and did not have health insurance (89.3%). Socio-demographic factors were significantly associated with health insurance enrollment. The probability of being enrolled in health insurance was 16.4 percentage points higher among women with the greatest wealth, as compared to those with the least wealth (95% confidence interval, 9.7 to 23.1). The probability of being enrolled in health insurance was 5.9 percentage points higher among women with any education, as compared to those with no education (95% confidence interval, 0.7 to 11.1). Household decision-making autonomy was not associated with insurance coverage. Conclusion: Our study not only highlights the disparities in health insurance uptake in this population but also suggests a need for studies, especially among women in resourcelimited households, that shed light on how to best design, market, and improve uptake of health insurance among women.","PeriodicalId":92223,"journal":{"name":"International journal of women's health and wellness","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91018862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
