Burden as a concept was first explicated by Hoenig and Hamilton. 6 Literature suggests that caregiver burden and depressive symptoms are interrelated in caregivers of persons with cancer and AD, with the burden being a precursor to depressive symptoms. 7 However, the burden is normally found in caregivers especially of elderly adults with AD. It is very important to consider caregiver burden and give a definition for caregiver burden. Given that concept analysis is not a standard method to generate or clarify the characteristics or concepts of caregiver burden in AD, it has not only been defined from the literature review but also from relevant attributes and irrelevant attributes. Concept analysis is thus beneficial in refining ambiguous concepts, which can become a precursor of theory, enhance knowledge development for research, and help to improve practice. 8 Abstract The purpose of a concept analysis of caregivers’ burden is to identify this in formal and informal caregivers to provide improved care to elderly adults with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and to reduce the burden of caregiving. The concept analysis proposed was conducted by Walker and Avant’s eight-step method. The search was performed in December 2016. Four databases were included: CINAHL, EBSCO Host, Google Scholar, and Science Direct. The outcome of the search was five areas found overall: nursing, gerontology, medical, public health, and psychological. Exclusion criteria included editorials, and duplication in each database. Finally, 24 papers were used for analysis in the concept of “caregiver burden in caregivers of elderly adults with AD”. The result of the concept analysis has three attributes including: physical and psychological problems, family function, and social support.","PeriodicalId":92144,"journal":{"name":"The Bangkok medical journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48654111","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of chief nurse’s ward management behavior on job satisfaction of nurses working in major district hospitals in Bhutan. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 246 nurses working across 18 district hospitals in Bhutan. Data on nurses’ job satisfaction and chief nurse’s ward management behavior were collected using Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ)-short version and Supervisory Behavior Description Questionnaire (SBDQ) respectively. A generalized linear model (GLM) with a binomial distribution was used to indicate the relationship between chief nurse’s ward management behavior and nurses’ job satisfaction. RESULTS: The result showed that 54.09% of nursing employees were satisfied with their job. In terms of chief nurse’s ward management behavior, chief nurses of Bhutan are inclined to display behavior which is more of an autocratic nature than democratic. There was a strong positive correlation between chief nurse’s ward management behavior and nurses’ job satisfaction. The GLM also indicated a strong positive relationship between the nurses’ job satisfaction with chief nurse’s ward management behavior. CONCLUSION: Nurses’ job satisfaction was significantly and positively associated with chief nurse’s ward management behavior. This finding call for an interventional program to promote chief nurse’s ward management behavior.","PeriodicalId":92144,"journal":{"name":"The Bangkok medical journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41833390","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Transposition of the great arteries (TGA) and irregular fetal bradycardia were prenatally detected. Immediately after birth, electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring revealed a complete heart block with no sign of hemodynamic compromise. The patient was then transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for ventilatory support. Close observation and further investigation with echocardiogram were undertaken. The patient was transferred by air at the age of 4 days to the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health for definitive cardiovascular treatments. This paper describes how to overcome the challenges of transporting a very young neonate with complex cardiac problems.","PeriodicalId":92144,"journal":{"name":"The Bangkok medical journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47357461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MATERIALS AND METHODS: The descriptive study was performed at Phyathai 3 Hospital between March 2021 and May 2021. Healthcare workers who received two doses (three weeks apart) of the CoronaVac vaccine were included. Blood samples for anti-spike IgG antibodies were taken from each healthcare worker before getting vaccinated and four weeks after completing two doses of the vaccine. RESULT: A total of 88 healthcare workers were enrolled in our study. Fifty-three (60%) of them were female, 84(95%) were physicians, 46(52%) were obese and 33(37.5%) had at least one coexisting condition. The mean age was 45.8 ± 9.3 years. Seven (8%) of participants were older than 60 years of age. All participants did not have IgG antibodies at baseline. Eighty-seven (98.9%) healthcare workers had seroconversion of anti-spike IgG antibodies four weeks after completing two doses of the CoronaVac vaccine. The mean level of anti-spike IgG at four weeks after completing vaccination was 115+/-85 unit/ml (range, 1.77-297.3 unit/ml). Anti-spike IgG levels were significantly higher in females than males ( p = 0.02). Normal-weight participants showed higher anti-spike IgG levels than obese individuals ( p = 0.01). IgG antibody responses tended to decrease with age. The highest IgG levels were observed in the ages of 30-40 years. CONCLUSION: Two doses of the CoronaVac vaccine could induce a 98.9% rate of seroconversion in healthcare workers. Female and normal-weight participants were significantly associated with a higher level of IgG response. Younger adults had a higher immune response than older adults in our setting.","PeriodicalId":92144,"journal":{"name":"The Bangkok medical journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42585145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
