The efficacy of online education is determined by user satisfaction, which eventually increases users' intentions to continue with online education. This study involves assessing University lecturers’ satisfaction towards the e-learning system as a mode of lecturing. An online questionnaire survey was conducted using a convenience sampling technique and 200 questionnaires were distributed among academics in all National Universities in Sri Lanka. One hundred twenty-eight (128) responses were collected within one week (response rate about 64%). The analysis explored descriptive statistics and variance-based structural equation modelling in Smart PLS. The findings revealed that the satisfaction of academics for e-teaching activities is positive and above average in terms of perceived usefulness, confirmation, task technology fit, system quality, information quality, and training dimensions. Finally, 88% of respondents have agreed with blended teaching methods in the future while recommending strategies for integrating a considerable array of technologies' capabilities in higher education institutions. The paper contributes to existing knowledge by considering the majority of factors and their impact on e-learning satisfaction. Also, it deliberates the issues and challenges academics face about e-learning mode and their future blended teaching recommendations.","PeriodicalId":91884,"journal":{"name":"International journal of current multidisciplinary studies","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78796988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of advanced manufacturing technologies in the apparel shop floor is far behind compared to other industries. The researcher believes that one reason could be the lack of readiness of employees to adopt new technologies. This paper aims to provide empirical evidence on the influencing factors on employee readiness to adopt advanced manufacturing technology on the apparel shop floor, aiming for the Sri Lankan apparel industry. Following a critical review of literature, five factors, perceived usefulness, attitude, perceived ease of use, perceived management support, and techno-optimism, were tested with the data collected through a quantitative survey conducted among 118 employees using a questionnaire. The results revealed that all five factors correlate with employee readiness in various degrees. Findings suggest that apparel organisations may need to improve employee readiness before adopting advanced technologies on the shop floor to bring more success in technology adoption. The literature addressing technology adoption in apparel shop floor is scarce, and this study contributes to that gap. Further research is recommended to contribute to knowledge and find solutions to enhance technological capabilities to bring a competitive advantage to the apparel industry.","PeriodicalId":91884,"journal":{"name":"International journal of current multidisciplinary studies","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73065601","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was conducted to compare the degenerative changes seen in histological assessment with T2-weighted MRI findings. The study recruited 104 patients with lumbar disc herniation undergoing lumbar discectomy. Excised lumbar disc fragments were taken for histology and T2-weighted MRI was conducted prior to the surgery. Excised disc fragments were subjected to routine histology procedure and van Gieson stain for collagen was performed on each specimen. Disc degeneration was assessed by histological parameters and T2weighted MRI findings. The majority of subjects (94.2%) showed degenerative changes of the excised portion of the lumbar discs in histological assessment of the disc. However, T2-weighted MRI findings of degenerative changes of the discs were comparatively less (35.6%). According to the histological assessment, higher percentage (61.5 %) of discs were moderately degenerated while 7.7 % had severely degenerated discs. All patients who were confirmed for disc degeneration with T2-weighted MRI (n=37) had confirmed degenerative changes in the histological assessment as well. Histological degenerative alterations were observed in the majority of patients when compared to detectable degenerative changes in T2-weighted MRI suggesting the importance of histological assessment of degeneration in the excised intervertebral disc fragments. As early degenerative changes are not detected by the standard T2weighted MRI technique, if neglected, can progress to severe stages resulting in more discomfort and pain to the patients.","PeriodicalId":91884,"journal":{"name":"International journal of current multidisciplinary studies","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90120242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The perfect blending of action and knowledge brings perfection to Ulysses’ life. He strives for his existence and inner evolution, which is a quest for real identity. His ideation is that the moment one stops to know something, one starts dying inwardly. Ulysses, a great man of learning, strives for self-transformation, exposing the spirits of existential philosophy, choices, and the different stages of inner growth and advancement. Following the footsteps of Kierkegaard’s philosophy, he passes through the aesthetic stage, the ethical stage, and in his culmination of self-transformation, he attains the genuine spirit of the religious stage. Thus, it remains significant to view Ulysses, as a practitioner of Kierkegaard's philosophy in action, existence, and evolution, proving that when wisdom and knowledge come together, then there prevail glory, victory, and bliss. As a research article in qualitative paradigm, this aims to provide a deep insight into Ulysses’ evolution of inner self, exploring it from the perspective of Kierkegaard's philosophy of existence, choice, and stages.","PeriodicalId":91884,"journal":{"name":"International journal of current multidisciplinary studies","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85032446","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For infection control, the first-line of defense as well as personal hygiene, are mandatory. Hand sanitizers that contain ethanol as the main constituent are used to kill a broad range of microbes. Demand for petroleum-derived ethanol is increasing with the COVID-19 outbreak and primary suppliers are searching for alternatives to overcome this problem. Objective of this study is to produce bioethanol from ripen papaw peel waste using Saccharomyces cerevisiae and to determine the potential utilization of bioethanol generated from papaw peel waste for a pilot study of which the end aim is hand sanitizer production. The blended ripened papaw (Carica papaya) fruit peel (100g/L) was inoculated with the S. cerevisiae (2g/L) in a fermentation medium that contains 10 g/L yeast extract, 10 g/L KH2PO4, 2 g/L (NH4)2SO4 and 0.5 g/L MgSO4•7H2O and allowed to ferment for 6-36 hours at room temperature. The bioethanol yield obtained after 12 hours, was 0.6% (V/V). The fermentation conditions were optimized by changing one factor at a time, while keeping the other variables constant. Significantly higher bioethanol yield (6.2 times, 3.7% V/V [p<0.05]) was obtained from papaya peels at the optimized conditions of 12 hours of incubation period, 5:1 ratio between air space and fermentation solution, 5g/L of yeast inoculum, 15g/100ml of papaw fruit peel, 1g/100ml of soybean powder as nitrogen source, 60ml/100ml of diluted sulfuric acid at pH 5. When the agar well diffusion assay was performed against pathogenic bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus spp. and Pseudomonas spp, all the bacterial strains showed an inhibition zone, i.e., they were sensitive for the bioethanol extract.","PeriodicalId":91884,"journal":{"name":"International journal of current multidisciplinary studies","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74427170","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the major issues pertaining to this crisis is the extant use of nonrenewable sources such as oil, coal and natural gas. Hydro power is a major renewable energy source that can be used to generate the electricity requirements of Sri Lanka. It is necessary for a hydropower turbine to function efficiently without any failures to generate electricity. The lubricants used in gearboxes of turbines play a major role in the proper functioning of hydropower turbines. Here, researchers have studied spectroscopic differences of new and discarded Caltex Regal R & O 68 using Raman spectroscopy, Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) spectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy. Among spectra obtained from above spectroscopic techniques, the spectra obtained from fluorescence spectroscopy had a significant difference between two lubricant samples. The highest fluorescence intensity was recorded in the fresh/ new oil sample while the lowest intensity was in the oil which was discarded by the hydro turbines. Additionally, in this study, it was revealed how fluorescence intensity of turbine oil (Caltex Regal R&O 68) used in Samanala hydropower plant station varies with different temperatures 100 °C, 120 °C, 140 °C, and 200 °C. Moreover, 1-Naphthalenamine, N – phenyl was identified as the fluorophore used in Caltex Regal R&O 68 lubricant. Therefore, the fluorescence technique can be used as a tool for monitoring the quality of hydropower turbine oils.","PeriodicalId":91884,"journal":{"name":"International journal of current multidisciplinary studies","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78249559","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been said that the provision of these services is key to the effective implementation of school programmes. It is on this premise that this study examines school services as predictors of students’ academic achievement in secondary schools. The study population consists of all students in senior secondary schools in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State. Quota and simple random sampling techniques were employed to select 372 students in 10 secondary schools. An instrument tagged “School Services Questionnaire” (SSQ) was adapted from previous studies to collect data. Also, results in five subjects were collected to measure students’ academic achievements. Findings of the study revealed the existence of a nexus between health services and academic performance, guidance and counseling services and academic achievements, and library services and academic achievements. Based on the findings, it was concluded that the importance of school services cannot be underestimated, hence the need for these services in schools so that the goals and objectives of secondary education can be achieved. It was recommended that adequate and quality school services should be provided as they may enhance students’ academic achievements. A substantial budgetary allocation should be voted for the availability of various services in schools.","PeriodicalId":91884,"journal":{"name":"International journal of current multidisciplinary studies","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86594992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To improve throwing velocity, numerous training methods and approaches are being used . Therefore, the purpose of this study was to find the effect of the resistance band and weight training on throwing velocity of age ( 27±3 ) , ( mean ± SD ) club level baseball players in Sri Lanka . Forty baseball players were recruited for the 8 - week training program based on the inclusion criteria and availability of players . Initially, athletes were assigned into 3 groups : a control group ( n = 10 ) , a weight training group ( n = 15 ) , and a resistance band training group ( n = 15 .) The weight training group performed 6 upper body exercises by using barbells and dumbbells while the resistance band training group engaged in 6 upper body exercises with blue and red coloured bands . Moreover, the control group was only allowed to perform their daily routine baseball practices which were 3 days per week and 3 hours per day . Throwing velocity was measured by using a radar gun, and upper body strength was measured using the one - repetition maximum ( 1RM ) bench press test to determine the relationship between strength and throwing velocity . Both test results were evaluated by using pre - test and post tests’ descriptive and inferential statistics . The weight training group and the resistance band group showed significant differences in 1RM bench press and the radar gun tests while the control group showed only a significant difference in the strength test . In addition, the control group revealed no significant difference in throwing velocity . Furthermore, the weight training group showed the greatest improvement in throwing velocity and 1RM bench press tests, and then the resistance band group followed the same . In conclusion, Strength training and resistance band training can be utilized to develop strength in the upper body and it may help to develop throwing velocity in other throwing sports, such as cricket, throw ball and so on .","PeriodicalId":91884,"journal":{"name":"International journal of current multidisciplinary studies","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74925791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
