Cephalometric radiograph is an important data for evaluating the craniofaciodental relationship and for assessing the soft tissue matrix. The purposes of this study were to describe the position of the sagittal lip based on Jefferson's class I, II, and III classification of skeletal malocclusions, as well as, to see the relationship between the skeletal classification and the position of the sagittal lip in children. The research method used was analytic cross-sectional, consisting of 90 secondary data of pediatric patients (age 8-12 years) at RSGM, Padjadjaran University, Bandung. This study used Jefferson's analysis to determine the skeletal classification and Sushner's analysis to determine the position of the sagittal lips. The data then were analyzed using Kendall Concordal analysis and Spearman Rank correlation. The results showed that the sagittal lip position in the three skeletal malocclusions was more protrusive than the normative value. There was a statistically significant relationship between the skeletal malocclusion class and the position of the upper and lower lip (at 80%, p-value = 5.69E-32 <0.05). The conclusion of this study is there is a relationship between the classification of skeletal malocclusion classes I, II, and III and the sagittal lip position in children.","PeriodicalId":91704,"journal":{"name":"International journal of dentistry and oral health","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89519613","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A pregnancy tumor is a pyogenic granuloma occurring on the gingiva during the gestation period. However, the term pyogenic granuloma is deceptive, because the lesion is distinct from infection. In this case series, 2 clinical reports are discussed in detail, unfolding the clinical appearance of the particular lesion. The histopathological correlation has been established and an apposite treatment modality is described, focusing on the minute considerations. We observed a challenging incidence of overgrowth that was disturbing for the subjects, affecting their health along with the fetus'. There was no adverse effect while treating them during the 2 trimester of gestation. We were also efficient in achieving instantaneous coagulation with lasers preceded by comprehensive removal of the lesion using blades, making it a suitable and safe tool.The dilemma of the clinician was resolved confirming that surgical excision is the gold standard for the complete removal of the lesion along with added benefits of lasers to reduce patient discomfort and accelerate healing.","PeriodicalId":91704,"journal":{"name":"International journal of dentistry and oral health","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81937114","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The acrylic denture base prostheses have their own advantages and disadvantages. Innovation of Flexible dentures are an excellent volition to conventionally used methyl methacrylate dentures, which not only give excellent aesthetics and comfort but also acclimatize to the constant movement and inflexibility in incompletely edentulous cases. This study has been accepted to estimate and compare the Flexural strength, face roughness and water sorption of two flexible denture base resins i.e. Valplast, Macroflexi and a heat cure denture base resin Acralyn-H. Hence, the objective of this study was to compare & estimate the Flexural Strength, Surface Roughness and Water sorption of two different Flexible denture base accoutrements and Heat cure denture base material. Twenty test samples of each material were divided into Group- A, Group- B, Group- C independently which were used for Flexural strength test and face roughness testing. Water sorption values were calculated using the formula and attained.","PeriodicalId":91704,"journal":{"name":"International journal of dentistry and oral health","volume":"107 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90559867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This complication arises when air forced beneath the tissue. In dentistry it may appear with the use of high-speed bur and could cause a serious complication including airway obstruction. This case report highlights a complication during dental procedure to give information for the clinician the factors, diagnosis, and management of subcutaneous emphysema.A 33 years old male patient with difficulty in breathing and swelling at right lower jaw, neck and chest region. The swelling occurred about 2 hours before admission during tooth extraction of second right lower molar using a high-speed bur about 30 minutes, then he started to feel difficulty in breathing with swelling at right lower jaw, neck and chest region occurred and pain. Then he was transferred to Hasan Sadikin Emergency Department for further treatment. The patient was diagnosed with subcutaneous emphysema at right lower jaw, neck and chest region due to suspect iatrogenic. The management of this patient was conservative treatment with oxygenation 3 lpm, close observation vital sign and wide emphysema, IVFD ringer lactate 1500 cc/ 24 hours, medication with Ceftriaxone 1 gr, Ketorolac 30 mg, Omeprazole 20 mg intravenous and being hospitalized for 4 days. After general condition stable he was performed tooth extraction.Iatrogenic subcutaneous emphysema could be a serious and potentially life-threatening, so dentist has to be more careful while using high-speed bur for tooth extraction.","PeriodicalId":91704,"journal":{"name":"International journal of dentistry and oral health","volume":"18 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81715384","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When there is not enough muscle mass between zygomatic and mandibular bone, slumping of cheeks occurs. Sunken cheeks lead to facial disfigurement and unesthetic appearance resulting in a negative psychological impact on the patient. The use of conventional complete dentures can rehabilitate the loss to some extent, but excellent denture esthetics can be achieved by providing additional support to the slumped tissues.
