However, diabetes is a disease of self-control. Therefore, self-care strategies can maintain patients' independence while reducing the burden imposed on health care resources. This study aimed to investigate the factors affecting self-care behaviors in diabetic patients. This study is a systematic review; Google Scholar, SID, Scopus, PubMed, Science Direct, and ISI databases were used; 17,500 articles were found including the keywords \"self-care\", \"diabetes\" and \"affecting factors\" in the search process and all studies after 2010 were included. After reviewing the titles and abstracts, 51 studies were included. The studies' reports on self-care behaviors and their prevalence were very different depending on the tools used . The studies show the relationship between various factors including demographic, socio-economic, and psychological with self-care behaviors in patients with diabetes, which the most important variables included educational status, age, gender, marital status, BMI, occupational status, duration of illness, comorbidities, income, having glucometer, perceived severity of the disease and its complications, perceived barriers, diabetes distress, diabetes knowledge, perceived susceptibility, self-efficacy, social and family support, depression, anxiety. Due to the relationship of demographic, socio-economic, and psychological factors with self-care behaviors in patients with diabetes, it is suggested that a comprehensive program for the management of caring behaviors in diabetic patients should be designed to include all of the above.","PeriodicalId":9116,"journal":{"name":"Bollettino della Societa italiana di biologia sperimentale","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79321483","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The origins of its use in the field of herbal medicine can be traced back to the Mexican tradition. It was used for sexual dysfunctions. The extract of leaves was used in women to induce menstruation, abortion and labor, and also to reduce postpartum bleeding. The leaves are also used for their diuretic properties and the ground roots are used in the treatment of dysentery. Over time, studies have been conducted to identify the compounds responsible for the therapeutic activity and their mechanism of action. Two studies conducted in rats demonstrated the aphrodisiac properties of Montanoa tomentosa. This activity has been attributed to the presence of components that act as oxytocic agents. Furthermore, other studies have shown that Montanoa has anxiolytic properties. The mechanism underlying this action lies in the interaction with the GABAA receptor. However, it has been shown that the anxiolytic effect is influenced by the individual endocrine status: in conditions of low hormone levels the anxiolytic effect is more pronounced; in conditions of high hormonal levels, a state like anxiety is observed. Despite the multiple properties of Montanoa, today’s research is geared towards strengthening its clinical relevance as a natural antidepressant agent.","PeriodicalId":9116,"journal":{"name":"Bollettino della Societa italiana di biologia sperimentale","volume":"20 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79666206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Beside considerable disagreements on when Anthropocene began, it is considered an epochal transformation linked to deterioration of global ecologies, loss of biodiversity and environmental degradation. Environmental anthropologists are contributing both theoretically and by important ethnographic insights in analyzing and understanding the consequences of climate changes in socio-ecological systems worldwide. In this article we provide an overview of main theoretical contributions during the development of environmental anthropology as a discipline. In addition, we highlight the possible Cultural Evolution theory (CE) contribution in climate changes consequences to a socio-ecological system.","PeriodicalId":9116,"journal":{"name":"Bollettino della Societa italiana di biologia sperimentale","volume":"76 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76738646","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The effects of drought stress and late-sowing on the grain yield and oil quality of rapeseed were studied by conducting a factorial split-plot experiment as a randomized complete block design with three replications for two years (2015-2017) in Karaj, Iran. Irrigation and sowing date treatments were considered in the main plots as factorial, and cultivars were placed in subplots. Two sowing dates were the regular date (October 7th) and the late-sowing date (November 6th). Irrigation was also carried out at two levels of normal irrigation and irrigation interruption from the flowering stage onwards. Experimental cultivars included ES Hydromel, ES Alonso, ES Darko, ES Lauren, and Ahmadi. The highest grain yield (4505.6 kg ha-1) was obtained on the regular date, and the normal irrigation. ES Hydromel had the best quality of oil and grain meal due to the highest percentage of palmitic acid (4.44%) under late cultivation and drought stress and the lowest glucosinolates (23.19 µmol g-1 DW) content under late cultivation. Therefore, the ES Hydromel hybrid cultivar was more successful in optimal use of water resources in the face of water scarcity and late-planting in arid and semi-arid regions.","PeriodicalId":9116,"journal":{"name":"Bollettino della Societa italiana di biologia sperimentale","volume":"39 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87628105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to determine the effective factors on the performance evaluation of Iranian health centers in 2020. This study was a cross-sectional study conducted on 88 managers, deputies, physicians, and experts working in the headquarters of health deputy and health centers of the township in Ahvaz (Khuzistan province, Southwest of Iran), Lorestan, and Ilam (West of Iran) provinces. We used two questionnaires to collect data. The first included demographic variables and the second was a researcher-designed questionnaire to determine the effective factors on the performance evaluation of health centers. Finally, Univariate and Multivariable Linear Regression model was used for data analysis by SPSS 24 software. The number of men was 50%. The most people were in the age group of 41-45 and 46-50 years with 23.9% and 30.7%, respectively, and the factors of planning was β= 0.122. Resource management β=0.119, combined index (β=0.200), information technology (β=0.132), customer satisfaction (β=0.327), education and empowerment (β=0.191), dealing with the crisis (β=0.344), committees, working groups (β=0.223), research and creativity (β=0.216) were in order the most important predictors of performance evaluation in Iranian health centers. All of the above factors are important predictors for performance evaluation in health centers. Therefore, paying attention to these factors in the performance evaluation of Iranian health centers seems to be necessary.","PeriodicalId":9116,"journal":{"name":"Bollettino della Societa italiana di biologia sperimentale","volume":"66 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75621794","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it is a clinical demand to find out new biomarkers for identification of CAD in the earlier stage. The purpose of this study was to determine whether qualitative and quantitative alterations of plasma soluble fibrin monomer complexes (SFMCs) are associated with cardiovascular events. Additionally, some other well-known biomarkers of hypercoagulation state, such as fibrinogen, and prothrombin were analyzed in plasma of patients with different coronary artery pathologies. We found that plasma SFMC concentrations were remarkably increased in all tested CAD groups. Moreover, the development of CAD was accompanied by the changes in both quantity and quality of SFMC composition compared to that of healthy subjects. Our results also demonstrated the elevated level of high molecular weight vitamin K-dependent protein (VKDP) complexes in plasma of CAD patients which could be used as a potential biomarker of hypercoagulation state. More studies are clearly needed to investigate whether SFMCs or abnormal forms of VKDPs affect cardiovascular events under CAD development and progression.","PeriodicalId":9116,"journal":{"name":"Bollettino della Societa italiana di biologia sperimentale","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85143315","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Observational studies have shown a significant association between dietary flavo-noid intake and reduced risk of cardiovascular and malignant diseases. The beneficial effects of citrus fruits on human health appear to be due to their high content in vitamins, minerals and fibers. In particular, the an-tioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities have been indicated as some of the mechanisms through which citrus fruits may thwarts the development of chronic degenerative diseases such as atherosclerosis and can-cer.
