This paper provides picture quality of high contrast IPS LCD in terms of color contrast, dynamic range, color expression and PQ‐EOTF accuracy in HDR compared to conventional IPS LCD. Furthermore, to evaluate its performance as a gaming display, reaction time between two IPS LCDs have different contrast ratio was tested. Experimental results indicate that observer's reaction time for high contrast IPS LCD was faster than conventional IPS LCD because of superior color contrast and color gamut at low luminance level.","PeriodicalId":91069,"journal":{"name":"Digest of technical papers. Usually, in order to evaluate the effect of pixel design on display quality, we need to make panel samples and light them up, or observe killer pattern samples that putted on the back light. Either method costs a considerable amount of time and money. In this paper, we will introuce a novel optical simulation system that we established to evaluate and optimize pixel design qualitatively or quantitatively.","PeriodicalId":91069,"journal":{"name":"Digest of technical papers. Many problems such as residual stress of deformation recovery, peeling of multi‐layer are usually happen during dynamic process and repeat motion, which can influence module lifetime directly. In this paper, we standardize the method of rollable simulation modeling, and then analyze related equivalent strain data of different multi‐layer structure in rollable form, derive the whole lifetime mapping of single material, predict the fatigue lifetime of rollable module after using kriging fitting. At last, we find that the accuracy of lifetime prediction is more than 80% by using these ways, which can greatly improve design efficiency.","PeriodicalId":91069,"journal":{"name":"Digest of technical papers. Due to the relatively harsh operation environment, materials for outdoor displays, such as liquid crystals (LCs), require better stability and reliability than normal indoor products. Herein, to evaluate the difference in reliability and optical properties between normal LCs and outdoor LCs, three LC materials including one normal LC, named LC‐Ref, and two outdoor LCs, LC‐1 and LC‐ 2, were assessed. Compared with LC‐Ref, LC‐1 and LC‐2 displayed wider nematic phase ranges and better reliability. Even though outdoor LCs exhibited right‐shifted V‐T curves, LC‐1 and LC‐2 could achieve similar transmittance ratios with LC‐Ref utilizing high driving voltage. Moreover, utilizing high‐ brightness backlight units (BLUs), outdoor LCs showed faster Toff than LC‐Ref with normal BLUs. Overall, LC‐1 and LC‐2 are potentially excellent LC materials for outdoor displays.","PeriodicalId":91069,"journal":{"name":"Digest of technical papers.
