Healthcare professionals often work in isolation to deliver highly specialised care efficiently and effectively for people living with diabetes. It is not uncommon for people with diabetes to be making frequent visits to community and hospital clinics to see a variety of specialists and healthcare professionals, with seemingly little opportunity for coordination of this complex health management programme between the wider team. In a field that is so diverse and rapidly changing, healthcare professionals of all specialties need to be aware of developments across all aspects of diabetes management. In this article, we discuss the epidemiology and natural history of diabetic retinopathy and describe an approach to its assessment and diagnosis. We provide an overview of the principles of diabetic retinopathy management and outline possible future treatments for diabetic retinopathy.</p>","PeriodicalId":90946,"journal":{"name":"Postdoc journal : a journal of postdoctoral research and postdoctoral affairs","volume":"4 1","pages":"112-116"},"PeriodicalIF":4.4,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8966825/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89127562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This family of enzymes comprises three proteins TET1, TET2 and TET3 that share a carboxyl-terminal core catalytic domain consisting of a conserved cysteine-rich domain, a double stranded β-helix domain and binding sites for the cofactors Fe(II) and 2oxoglutarate. At their amino-terminal region, TET1 and TET3 have a CXXC DNA-binding domain. Interestingly, during evolution, the segment encoding the CXXC domain of TET2 was separated from the region encoding the catalytic domain and is now encoded separately by a neighboring gene, IDAX (also called CXXC4).","PeriodicalId":90946,"journal":{"name":"Postdoc journal : a journal of postdoctoral research and postdoctoral affairs","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42947221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current treatment for preterm labor is inadequate and relies on findings in other smooth muscles. No treatment can prevent labor to allow a fetus to remain in the womb until term. Regulation of contraction/relaxation of the uterine smooth muscle is poorly understood. Recent work in our laboratory has revealed major disparity between term and preterm human uterine smooth muscle that suggests new approach to drug discovery.","PeriodicalId":90946,"journal":{"name":"Postdoc journal : a journal of postdoctoral research and postdoctoral affairs","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46758164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, an evolutionary approachwas proposed to predict the total risk in stock investment based on an S&P 500 database in a time period of 1991-2010 employing a multi-objective genetic programming alongwith an adaptive regression bymixing algorithm. The reasonable results suggest that the proposed model can be applied to various stock databases to assess the total risk of investment. The proposedmodel along with stock selection decision support systems can overcome the disadvantages of weighted scoring stock selection.","PeriodicalId":90946,"journal":{"name":"Postdoc journal : a journal of postdoctoral research and postdoctoral affairs","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47756718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Significant improvements have been made to reduce the cytotoxicity and to improve efficiency associated with transfection over the few decades. Nevertheless, with new, exciting biological questions, the demand for the ideal transfection technique with high throughput, single cell transfection ability and control of cargo dosage has increased. This review focuses on recent innovations in cell transfection techniques, and discusses the pros and cons of each method.","PeriodicalId":90946,"journal":{"name":"Postdoc journal : a journal of postdoctoral research and postdoctoral affairs","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67014845","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The unique structural feature of this class of natural products is the presence of a macrolactone ring. The hydrophobic side-chain of the macrolactone maintains a fine balance on the highly polar polysaccharide backbone, making them amphiphilic. Various parts of the morning glory plant have been used as folk medicines for centuries throughout the world. The commentary bellow emphasizes on the potential application of resin glycosides in the development of new therapies.","PeriodicalId":90946,"journal":{"name":"Postdoc journal : a journal of postdoctoral research and postdoctoral affairs","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42599942","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
