Essa espécie tem também um potencial considerável para o cultivo, embora poucas informações sejam conhecidas da sua biologia. Assim o presente estudo investigou a exploração artesanal das populações de A. paraguayensis no município paraense de Santarém, no Norte do Brasil, por 16 meses, concentrando-se nos tipos de equipamento mais utilizados para sua captura, na diní¢mica pesqueira e nos padrões de produção. O matapi foi o principal método utilizado, configurando-se como um sistema de produção pesqueira tipicamente artesanal de pequena escala. Os resultados do presente estudo constituem importante instrumento de investigação para o desenvolvimento de estratégias de conservação e gestão e o eventual estabelecimento de protocolos de cultivo.","PeriodicalId":9062,"journal":{"name":"Boletim do Instituto de Pesca","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-08-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89667167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examined whether the taxonomic fish composition in an urban river varies along three riparian zone preservation conditions: preserved, intermediate preservation and degraded. Six urban stretches of the Sorocaba/São Paulo River were selected for this study, with monthly sampling being carried out from June 2019 to February 2020. The samplings were carried out with the aid of a sieve, dip net, and trawl. Regarding the types of margins and environmental variables, the Principal Component Analysis explained 97.49% of the data variation, axis 1, which explained 91.85% of the total variation, was formed by the variables conductivity and total dissolved solids. Axis 2, which explained 5.64% of the variation, was formed by Sun Rays% and Siltation%, being inversely proportional to Riparian Forest%. For the ichthyofauna, the samples consisted in 50,983 fish distributed in 5 orders, 8 families, and 12 species. Cyprinodontiformes had the highest abundance, with 96.96% of the total number of individuals, followed by Siluriformes (2.39%), and the sum of the other orders did not reach 1% of the total collected. According to each type of margin, it was possible to register 11,592 individuals for the Margin A – preserved, with S=8 species, being 2 exclusive (Corydoras flaveolus and Hoplosternum littorale) and 3 exotic (Coptodon rendalli, Pterygoplichthys ambrosettii, and Poecilia reticulata), the latter was dominant in all types of margins. For Margin B – intermediate preservation, 19,645 individuals were sampled, with S=5 species, no exclusive species, only exotic and more tolerant native species such as Hoplias malabaricus and Hypostomus ancistroides. For Margin C – degraded, 19,746 individuals were recorded, the largest number of species (S=10), 3 were exclusive to this type of margin (Psalidodon fasciatus, Rhamdia Quelen, and Geophagus brasiliensis). The pairwise comparison (similarity percentage) showed that the assemblage structure was different for the types of margins. The Canonical Correspondence Analysis explained 92.46% of the total data variation, showing the relationship of species to environmental data. It is evident the importance of preservation of micro-habitats still present in the locals sampled, since different anthropic pressures cause great loss of diversity, especially for native and more sensitive species.","PeriodicalId":9062,"journal":{"name":"Boletim do Instituto de Pesca","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-08-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74923371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is highly appreciated by the Amazonian riverine communities as a source of animal protein. In this study, we analyzed the dietary preferences and abiotic parameters that influence the condition factor of A. surinamensis that inhabit Cujubim Lake during periods of drought and flood. A total of 105 specimens were captured using three batteries of monofilament nylon nets (measuring 20 m long, 2.5 m high, 40, 60, 80 and 100 mm mesh, measured between opposite knots). The nets were arranged in pre-established positions within the lake and inspected at the times of 18:00, 00:00, 06:00 and 12:00 h. This methodology was utilized to obtain the largest range of fish sizes and to avoid the influence of the nictimeral factor. The results of the analysis of the stomach contents of the individuals confirmed that the species is planktivorous and consumes mainly cladocera and bivalves in the Cujubim Lake, which indicates that there is good food availability in the lake. Our results also demonstrate that, among the physicochemical parameters of the water in Cujubim Lake, pH was the one that most affected the condition factor of A. surinamensis.","PeriodicalId":9062,"journal":{"name":"Boletim do Instituto de Pesca","volume":"4 2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83224495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Analyzed variables include antioxidant (ACAP) and oxidative damage (TBARS) responses and levels of total carotenoids. The results indicated that there was no significant difference (p >0.05) in zootechnical variables between diets. The PL carotenoid content (R2 = 0.86), ACAP (R2 = 0.78), and TBARS (R2 = 0.91) showed a dose-dependent relationship with the inclusion levels of “buriti” (p <0.05). After 43 days, juvenile shrimps were exposed for 96 h to ammonia (0.48 mg NH3-N L-1) or nitrite (40 mg NO3 L-1). Higher scavenging activity against peroxyl radicals was observed in PL fed with 2.50 and 5.00% of “buriti” (ammonia exposure), or 5.00 and 10.00% (nitrite exposure) of “buriti” inclusion. Content of reduced glutathione was higher in shrimps exposed to ammonia and fed with 10.00% of “buriti”. Lipid peroxidation levels were lower in shrimps exposed to ammonia or nitrite and previously fed with inclusion higher than 2.50% of “buriti”. The increased scavenging activity and lower lipid peroxidation in ammonia or nitrite-exposed organisms and previously supplemented with “buriti” point to a hormetic response that increases the resilience of L. vannamei to cope with nitrogenous compounds, pointing to the use of this fruit as a chemoprotectant agent.","PeriodicalId":9062,"journal":{"name":"Boletim do Instituto de Pesca","volume":"89 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79238159","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We performed single ethnographic interviews (n = 80) through a semistructured questionnaire, using participant observation, visual ethnography, and field diary recordings. All the interviewees were men from 27 to 77 years old, with low education levels and up to 60 years of experience in the fishery artisanal. Most of the interviewees (n = 71; 88.7%) recognize the presence of this MAR in the region and its role as a shelter for marine fauna and an attractor for species with commercial value. Even with fishery prohibition in the vicinity of MAR Victory 8B, most of the interviewees (n = 75; 93.7%) reported the practice in that area. According to the fishermen, the ship installation did not alter area the fishery, but the structure positively changed the activity by attracting more fish, increasing capture and profits. With that, from the perspective of the fishermen perception, MAR Victory 8B fulfilled its role in the enrichment of the fish stock and the conservation of marine biodiversity in the region.","PeriodicalId":9062,"journal":{"name":"Boletim do Instituto de Pesca","volume":"54 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75183847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To understand the reproductive and population dynamics of this species, in 2019 and 2020, experimental fisheries were carried out during periods of flood and low water in the Cujubim Lake in Porto Velho (Rondônia, Brazil). This study aimed to analyze the seasonal pattern (flood and low water) for the reproductive period and the population dynamics of the Surinam anchovy in this region, which resulted in the collection of 870 individuals. The specimens showed mean lengths (Ls) of 6.85 ± 0.51 cm to 9.01 ± 2.56 cm and mean weight (Wt) of 5.8 ± 3.37 g to 6.6 ± 2.72 g between low and flood water periods, respectively. The growth parameters for this species (Wt = 0.0226*Ls2,6635; Natural mortality, M = 1.66 year-1; Growth rate, k = 0.70 year-1; Asymptotic length, L∞ = 16.53 cm; Theoretical maximum weight, W∞ = 42.83 g) and the quantity of individuals in mature stages during periods of flood and low water were also evaluated. The mean values of Gonadosomatic index - GSI (5.41 and 4.96 between females and males) and animal welfare index, Kn (1.009 and 1.010 between low and flood water periods) did not show significant differences. The performance of three bait types (mackerel, sardine, squid) was evaluated with a commercial vessel operating in the Equatorial Atlantic Ocean using the deep-set pelagic longline deployment method to target large yellowfin and bigeye tunas. The effect of different factors and covariates on the Capture per Effort Unit - CPUE was evaluated through Generalized Linear Models (GLM). In 121 experimental sets using three bait types, 2385 individuals of the two target species were captured, 1166 yellowfin tuna and 1219 bigeye tuna. The results suggest a preference between bait types for each target species, with the yellowfin tuna being mostly caught by the hooks using squid and bigeye tuna with fish bait mackerel. Stratifying the results for three depth ranges of the hooks, the combination of bait and depth for yellowfin tuna resulted in an increase of catch probability in the intermediary depth layer using mackerel. For bigeye tuna, using mackerel in the intermediary layer resulted in a reduction in the catch rate. Bycatch represented around 11.15% of total captures. These results will provide important information to choosing the most efficient bait for the pelagic longline fishing operation and will help future decisions of fisheries management.","PeriodicalId":9062,"journal":{"name":"Boletim do Instituto de Pesca","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88947270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 30 specimens of H. malabaricus were collected in 2018 using fishing nets. Parasites were prevalent in 96.6% of the hosts, with 710 parasites specimens collected, divided into 22 species from 4 different taxa (i.e., Monogenea, Digenea, Nematoda, and Acanthocephala). This was the first survey about the parasitic fauna of H. malabaricus in this river, where three species are new records for this host (i.e., Gussevia sp. 1, Gussevia sp. 2, and Raphidascaris sp.). All species found are new records for the Jacaré-Pepira River, which together with all the data obtained in the study, collaborates to increase knowledge and understanding of the global fish parasite biodiversity.","PeriodicalId":9062,"journal":{"name":"Boletim do Instituto de Pesca","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84141241","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
