It can also help us better understand how and why countries enact certain immigration laws. To do so, researchers must draw on methods from the disciplines that have long studied migration institutions both comparatively and empirically. These social sciences offer particularly fertile grounds for methodological borrowing, given the well-developed data and empirical literatures that have emerged over the past few decades to better understand the causes and effects of migration, and the causal inference 'credibility revolution'. Researchers should also consider the insights developed in comparative law generally about the appropriate objects of comparison. Such an interdisciplinary marriage of methods could allow researchers to tackle a series of new and emerging questions on the causes-and-effects of migration law.","PeriodicalId":90549,"journal":{"name":"International journal of migration and border studies","volume":"124 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135470619","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hal ini berarti perguruan tinggi sebagai episentrum pendidikan juga diharapkan dapat mengoptimalkan peranannya karena perguruan tinggi memiliki andil besar dalam mobilisasi ribuan mahasiswa tiap harinya. Namun, untuk mewujudkan sustainable mobility, banyak tantangan yang harus dapat dituntaskan oleh kampus, baik dalam segi infrastruktur maupun sistem manajemen kampus. Penelitian ini akan mengkaji mobilitas berkelanjutan yang ada pada kampus Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur (UPNVJT) melalui kajian tatanan bangunan yang direfleksikan dari perilaku parkir sepeda motor mahasiswa. Kajian akan dilakukan melalui metode observasi kondisi eksisting dan mengkaji kondisi infrastruktur kampus UPNVJT terhadap sustainable mobility. Data dari responden juga digunakan untuk menjelaskan perilaku parkir mahasiswa atas tanggapan terhadap tatanan infrastruktur kampus. Hasil penelitian ini menyebutkan bahwa tatanan bangunan UPNVJT masih belum merefleksikan sustainable mobility yang optimal. Hal ini ditunjukkan perilaku mobilisasi yang masih banyak bergantung kepada penggunaan kendaraan bermotor walau untuk aktivitas mobilisasi dengan jarak yang cukup pendek.","PeriodicalId":90549,"journal":{"name":"International journal of migration and border studies","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79689160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper looks at the history of these prosecutions by examining how the United Kingdom’s Criminal Justice System (CJS) and the UK’s Asylum and Immigration System has handled these cases. At the center of the CJS lies the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), which reviews wrongful convictions, and Criminal Court of Appeal, which has the power to quash wrongful convictions. The paper concludes that there are three major reasons why asylum seekers continue to be prosecuted and convicted: (a) only a ‘patchwork’ of protections exists to protect asylum-seekers from prosecution; (b) all state/legal institutions operate in policy silos and fail to communicate with one another, and (c) legal institutions are indifferent to and deeply hostile towards asylum-seekers.","PeriodicalId":90549,"journal":{"name":"International journal of migration and border studies","volume":"18 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66692668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is not an exhaustive overview of the value of a CIL approach; rather, through indicating some of the possibilities of CIL, it provokes thought as to how CIL could enhance IML enquiry. Before turning to the migration context, the key tenets of CIL are outlined. Then, I argue, using examples drawn from my ongoing research, that CIL can provide a more holistic and fine-grained understanding of IML. Moreover, CIL can offer insight into how discrete IML regimes interact within States. The assessment explores the possibilities and limitations of such an approach. I conclude by calling for increased reflection on the possibilities of CIL as a methodological approach within the field of IML.","PeriodicalId":90549,"journal":{"name":"International journal of migration and border studies","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66692746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
