As the core of effectiveness evaluation, the evaluating model defines the data abstractions and running rules for evaluation procedures. In current situation, we have to implement the evaluating model for different applications, even though they have the same model. This leads to many repetitive works. Aiming at solving this problem, this paper introduces a design method for reusable evaluating models, which utilizes the COM technology to construct evaluating models as independent COM components. Through this technique, a base of reusable evaluating models is expected to be implemented. To illustrate the key issues related with our idea, we choose the ADC model as the example. The COM implementation of the ADC model as well as its integration with applications is discussed in detail, and a practical evaluating experiment is presented. The experiment result shows that our method can not only ensure the reusability of evaluating models but also make it easy to integrate models with different effectiveness evaluating systems. Therefore, it can meet different demands of effectiveness evaluating systems and improve the developing efficiency and maintainability.","PeriodicalId":89460,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the ... Such knowledge is circulated and accumulated by a knowledge flow (KF) in an organization to support worker’s tasks. Workers may cooperate and participate in several task-based groups to fulfill their needs. In this paper, we propose a group-based knowledge flow mining algorithm which integrates information retrieval and data mining techniques for mining and constructing the group-based KF (GKF) for task-based groups. The GKF is expressed as a directed knowledge graph to represent the knowledge referencing behavior for a group of workers with similar task needs. The frequent knowledge referencing paths are identified from the knowledge graph to indicate the frequent knowledge flows of the workers. We also implement a prototype of GKF mining system to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method.","PeriodicalId":89460,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the ... The well structured, modeled and analyzed architectural framework of the system is a very important part of the process when developing applications, since these applications are subject to frequent change and increased complexity. This paper discusses three essential phases of designing a web-based collaborative enterprise: framework, modeling and analysis. First, the paper proposes an application oriented web-based collaborative system architecture. Second, the modeling and simulation of the selected application are shown. Third, some analysis of the application using Stochastic Petri nets is discussed. We contend that following these phases will help to develop and analyze the web-based collaborative enterprise systems. Finally, this approach can be used in a variety of collaborative enterprise systems which form the basis of our future work and further development.","PeriodicalId":89460,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the ... Existing knowledge-based dialog systems give meaningful information to users, but they are unsuitable for open-ended input. The system Eliza can handle open-ended input, but it gives no meaningful information. Our system lies between the above two dialog systems; it converses on various topics and gives meaningful information related to the user’s utterances. The system selects an appropriate sentence as a response from documents gathered through the Web, on the basis of surface cohesion ands shallow semantic coherence. We developed a trial system to converse about movies and experimentally found that the proposed method generated 66% appropriate responses.","PeriodicalId":89460,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the ... However, the choice of the first route and the initial distribution of pheromone are among the toughest yet most crucial factors in determining the performance of process optimization. According to the materials we referred to, almost all the existing methods of ACO set the same constant in all routes as the initial pheromone. However, in that case, the searching process might be misleading, or stick into local optimal values. In this article, a new method is proposed to optimize the parameter searching process in thermal objects particularly, implementing initial pheromone distribution according to a set of formulas concluded from many observances and practical tests. We used MATLAB as the program design platform. The experiment showed that this method is satisfactory. Moreover, it can be applied in other intelligent algorithms such as Genetic Algorithm, which is also in demand of setting initial parameters and range of values.","PeriodicalId":89460,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the ... A prerequisite for proposing any solution that would make the existing systems more efficient is an accurate analysis and understanding of freight movements. A single model cannot fully capture aspects of freight transportation which interact and affect each other in a complex manner. Rather, integration of a variety of legacy simulation and analysis tools along with holistic optimization is a necessity for freight transportation system design. This paper proposes an integrated modeling and simulation framework for freight transportation using semantic web technology which offers benefits of modularity, extensibility and reusability of both code and design to the applications. We discuss the implementation strategies and methods to achieve these goals and identify some of the key research challenges in realizing our framework vision.","PeriodicalId":89460,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the ... However, in practice, composed web services must cope with changing environment at run time to maintain the usability of current composition plan. In this paper, we propose a solution for web service composition based on adaptation to avoid the problem of such invalidated running composition plans. In addition, we add another layer of process between adaptation and composition, called substitution, in the system architecture. The objective of the research is to show that adaptation and substitution complement each other, and their integration in the system provides best flexibility and efficiency for web service composition and execution during the design time and running time, respectively.","PeriodicalId":89460,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the ... However, how to fulfill the vision of dataspace, i.e. pay-as-you-go integration, is still a suspensive issue, and the first challenge is data modeling. In this paper, we present a flexible data model called triple model which is similar to RDF but more suitable to dataspace applications. Information in arbitrary data model can be uniformly represented by triple model in dataspace. According to pre-defined rules, each information item would be decomposed into a bunch of structures called triple, and all triples are loosely connected to form a unified view without reconciling semantic heterogeneity upfront. Then users are enabled to query or search in a uniform way over all heterogeneous information sources. Further, when users demand, existing dataspace can be incrementally enhanced by tighter integrations.","PeriodicalId":89460,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the ... The easy use of tags, along with the ability to publicly share tags and resources from others, has attracted many users to actively participate. However, more and more users are facing the problem of effectively organizing and browsing the increasing tags and resources in one’s personal tag space. In this paper, we present a novel approach to automatically group tags in one’s personal tag space into tag clusters thus helping the user organize the large tagged resources effectively. The proposed approach is based on the theory of concept lattices, which provides a powerful, well-founded, and computationally-tractable framework to model one’s personal tag space in which tags and collocated resources are represented and to compute such a transformation. We also propose a visual interface model for tag browsing by incorporating Tag Cloud and clustering technology, where tags in each cluster are organized as a tag-cloud. Experiments on del.icio.us show that the clustering results are very similar to bundles manually created by users. The presented algorithm not only groups the semantic-related tags into clusters, but also generates meaningful descriptions for each cluster automatically. In addition, the prototype system shows that the grouped Tag Cloud visualization interface improves the visual representation of a typical Tag Cloud layout.","PeriodicalId":89460,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the ... The generalized model includes two types of constraints; bounds-on-holdings and cardinality constraints. The former guarantee that the amount invested (if any) in each asset is between its predetermined upper and lower bounds while the latter ensures that the total selected assets in the portfolio is equal to a predefined number. The generalized model is, thus, classified as a quadratic 0/1 integer programming model necessitating the use of efficient heuristics to find the solution. Some heuristic methods based on Genetic Algorithm, Simulated Annealing, Tabu Search and Neural Networks have been reported in the literatures. In this paper, we propose a novel heuristic based on an artificial immune system. The proposed approach is illustrated and compared with other methods using five sample set of data utilized by other researchers. The computational results show that the proposed approach can effectively solve large-scale problems.","PeriodicalId":89460,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the ...
