Studies suggest that semi-supervised learning is a possible alternative to obtain knowledge models that are more adequate to the reality of certain domains. Methods that make use of semi-supervision adapt traditional solutions to consider partial pre-existing information in the learning process. The goal of this work is to investigate a semi-supervised learning approach, involving semi-supervised fuzzy clustering as means to an automatic labeling mechanism. The studied approach uses the strategy previously proposed by the authors that includes a labeling process to increase the set of labeled examples used as input for a supervised fuzzy rule base generator. This paper presents and analyses additional results obtained from experiments designed to evaluate the impact of augmenting the labeled training examples on the final classification system.","PeriodicalId":89460,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the ... In a world of automated everyday reasoning and decision-making, computation with natural language is certain to play a pivotal role. Much of human knowledge, and especially world knowledge, is described in natural language. Basically, computation with natural language is closely related to computation with information described in natural language and, more concretely, to Computing with Words (CW or CWW), but not to natural language processing.","PeriodicalId":89460,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the ... This combination provides it with benefits related to both specific and generic behaviors. Indeed, the use of sequence diagrams for describing the objects dynamics, allows a valuated control flow specification. We propose in this paper an approach based on a value oriented validation of the IOD. The validation is made by model checking using the hierarchical Petri nets derived from the IOD diagrams. They provide a standard way of representing terms and concepts thereby supporting easy transmission and interpretation of data for various applications. However, with their growing utilization, not only has the number of available ontologies increased considerably, but they are also becoming larger and more complex to manage. Toward this end, a growing body of work is emerging in the area of modular ontologies where the emphasis is on either extracting and managing \"modules\" of an ontology relevant to a particular application scenario (ontology decomposition) or developing them independently and integrating into a larger ontology (ontology composition). In this paper, we investigate state-of-the-art approaches in modular ontologies focusing on techniques that are based on rigorous logical formalisms as well as well-studied graph theories. We analyze and compare how such approaches can be leveraged in developing tools and applications in the biomedical domain. We conclude by highlighting some of the limitations of the modular ontology formalisms and put forward additional requirements to steer their future development.</p>","PeriodicalId":89460,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the ...
