We conducted this study on 30 cats suffering from various types of enteritis affection, including viral, bacterial, and parasitic. The study aimed to assess the clinical, hematological and biochemical alterations in cats with various forms of enteritis. The most prevalent clinical signs seen in all forms of enteritis were diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration, and anorexia. Hematological changes revealed a significant reduction in hemoglobin content and red blood cell count than control values in viral and bacterial enteritis. WBCs count and granulocytes were significantly increased in bacterial enteritis. In viral enteritis, there was a significant decrease in lymphocytes and granulocytes, while in parasitic enteritis, there was a significant increase in eosinophils. Different types of enteritis showed significant increases in total protein, globulin, ALT, ALP, and AST, as well as BUN and creatinine, and significant decreases in Ca, P, Na, Cl, and K ions. There was a significant increase in antioxidant enzyme levels, including GSH-Px and SOD, and a significant increase in MDA, inflammatory cytokines, including IL2 and IL6, and acute phase proteins, including HP and CRP, in all affections. These results highlight the complexity of feline enteritis and the demand for specialized treatment strategies to meet the wide range of clinical, hematological and biochemical changes..","PeriodicalId":8803,"journal":{"name":"Benha Veterinary Medical Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141697162","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a widely used medication to improve hormone secretion. However, long-term HRT increases the risk of breast cancer and cardiovascular disease is concerning. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a safe and effective treatment for POF. Bone Marrow-(BM-MSCs) and Umbilical Cord -(UC-MSCs) derived stem cells (SCs) were isolated and identified from healthy rats. For POF induction, CYP (200mg/Kg b.wt) injected (i.p) into CYP, CYP+BMSCs, and CYP+UCMSCs followed by another dose (10mg/ b.wt, i.p) after one week. The normal control (NC) group were injected with saline. After two weeks of POF induction MSCs (1 × 10 6 cells/ml) of media were transplanted into POF rats through tail-vein. The effects of MSCs transplantation to POF were evaluated through sex hormones, iron, and complete blood count (CBC) analysis. POF-induced rats showed a significant increase in serum FSH and LH, with marked decrease in anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) and estradiol (E2). Obvious increase in serum iron level observed in CYP group compared to the NC. Moreover, POF-induced rats displayed leucopenia, erythrocytopenia, and thrombocytopenia with a significant reduction in Hb, PCV, MCV, MCH, and MCHC compared to the NC. Administration of MSCs to CYP-injured rats significantly improved female reproductive hormones disturbances, iron, and hemogram. It was suggested that MSCs was a potential approach for improving sex hormones, iron, and hematological alterations, and potentially promoting the restoration of CYP-induced POF. This study determined the prevalence of Aerobic mesophilic bacteria count (AMB), Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp., E. coli and Listeria monocytogenes in imported chilled and frozen beef in Egypt. The experimental results revealed that the AMB (cfu/g) in chilled samples varied from 5.3×10 4 to 4.7×10 6 , with an average of 8.35×10 5 ±1.06. In contrast, for frozen samples, the range was from 9.7×10 3 to 1.5×10 6 , with an average of 3.11×10 5 ±0.29. Staphylococcus aureus was found in 24 % of chilled beef samples and 16 % of imported frozen beef samples. The prevalence of Salmonella spp. was identified in 5% of chilled beef samples and 3% of imported frozen beef samples . Additionally, Escherichia coli was identified in and 14% of chilled samples and 8% of frozen samples. The presence of L. monocytogenes was identified in 3% of chilled beef samples and 1% of frozen samples. The results obtained validated the inadequate bacteriological quality of certain imported chilled and frozen meats sold in the markets of Cairo and Qalyubia. This quality deficiency is a result of unclean transportation practices that continue to the retail levels. Chilled comprehensive findings, it can be inferred that imported chilled and frozen beef poses a substantial bacteriological public health risk and requires specific control measures.","PeriodicalId":8803,"journal":{"name":"Benha Veterinary Medical Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141689084","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current study was conducted to determine the preservative impacts of Cowpea ( Vigna unguiculata ) 11S globulin (CPEG) spray on tiger shrimp ( Penaeus monodon ) shelf-life and physicochemical characteristics, as well as optimum field preservative levels. Fresh peeled tiger shrimp were sprayed with either 100µg/ml (CPEG1) or 200µg/ml (CPEG2) of CPEG at a rate of 2 ml/100 gm and refrigerated at 2±0.5°C. The control shrimp received only sterile distilled water. After 12 storage days, CPEG2 sprayed shrimp displayed a steadily raising pH trend, reaching 7.3, whereas control and CPEG1 sprayed shrimp demonstrated a V-pH curve. Though was not entirely significant, but 200 µg/ml of CPEG spray improved shrimp WHC and drip loss attributes. Compared to the apparent increasing curves of control shrimp's native microbial curves, which culminated in clear spoiling on the eighth day, CPEG-treated shrimp at both doses did not exceed 6 log cfu/gm for the entire twelve-day chilling period. Also, both CPEG levels exhibited a significant antioxidant impact compared to the control. The retarding effect of CPEG on treated shrimp native microbial curves and malondialdehyde was dose dependent. Conclusively, both CPEG levels kept the fresh tiger shrimp's organoleptic aspects and postponed the spoilage beyond twelve-days. Therefore, the shrimp's shelf-life can potentially be extended while preserving its safety and quality by using the CPEG spray, which works best at 200 µg/ml.","PeriodicalId":8803,"journal":{"name":"Benha Veterinary Medical Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141688735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two fish groups of mean initial weight (13.5 ± 1.5g) were randomly allocated in triplicate and fed Sanacore ® GM at a dose of 0 (control) and 5 g/kg diet for a period of 30 days. Fish were challenged by A. veronii at the experimental endpoint and the mortality rate was recorded for 15 days. Fish fed Sanacore ® GM supplemented diet revealed significant increase in final body weight, haemato-biochemical indices (red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin concentration, lymphocytes, neutrophils, serum total protein, and albumin levels), and immunological parameters (phagocytic activity, nitric oxide, lysozyme activity, IgM, and serum bactericidal activity). In addition, the anti-oxidative enzymes activity (superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase) showed meaningful increase in Nile tilapia received Sanacore ® GM incorporated diet. However, catalase enzyme displayed no significant activity ( P > 0.05) in the supplemented group compared to the control group. The relative percentage survival was 100% in the challenged Sanacore ® GM group compared the control. Various studies have shown that Lemon balm possesses a high amount of antioxidant activity through its chemical components including high amount of flavonoids, rosmaric acid, gallic acid and phenolic contents. This study was designed to evaluate the therapeutic effect of Lemon balm extract against hyperthyroidism induced by Eltroxin. Hyperthyroidism was induced by injecting rats with Eltroxin (100 μg/kg/ day) for 14 days. The hyperthyroid rats were orally treated with Lemon balm extract (75 mg/kg/day) at the beginning of the second week of the Eltroxin injection and continued for another week. The levels of TSH , T3 ,T4 and oxidative biomarkers (NO and CAT ) were measured using commercial kits. Thyroid specimens were taken for histopathological examination. Lemon balm extract reversed the effect of Eltroxin on rats and attenuated the thyroid hormones Additionally, Lemon balm extract alleviated the inflammatory response by suppressing the NO and increasing CAT when compared to hyperthyroid group. Accordingly, these results might strengthen the protective effect of Lemon balm extract in a rat model of hyperthyroidism.","PeriodicalId":8803,"journal":{"name":"Benha Veterinary Medical Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141689905","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
