STUDY DESIGN: Between January 2012 and December 2018, the data and preoperative levels of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio of 116 epithelial ovarian cancer patients were retrospectively collected. The association of these relevant markers with outcomes was analyzed. RESULTS: The difference was observed concerning optimal and suboptimal debulking in platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio ratios (p=0.04). Lymphovascular space involvement was significantly associated with higher platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio ratios (p<0.0001). Patients with ascites and lymph node involvement had a higher platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio ratio (p=0.007 and p=0.004). In recurrences, higher ratios of platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio were observed (p=0.03 and p=0.02). The analysis revealed that platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio were not independent prognostic factors for recurrence (p=0.783 and p=0.391). Regarding mortality, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio were not independently prognostic (p=0.621 and p=0.830). It was determined that neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio >2.45 (HR 0.714, CI 0.622-0.794, p<0.0001) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio >179.4 (HR 0.736, CI 0.646-0.814, p<0.0001) could predict the presence of recurrence with a certain sensitivity and specificity, and for predicting the death, a neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio of >2.45 had a sensitivity of 78.26% (95% CI: 56.3 to 92.5%) and a specificity of 54.84% (95%CI: 44.2 - 65.2) (p=0.03). CONCLUSION: The evaluation of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio is important in obtaining prognostic information before surgery. However, no significant association between the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio or platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio with survival was identified.","PeriodicalId":87233,"journal":{"name":"Clinical obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive medicine","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86158748","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

STUDY DESIGN: This retrospective cohort study included patients who underwent surgery for endometrial cancer indication at the Gynecologic Oncology Clinic of the University of Health Sciences Tepecik Training and Research Hospital between 2011 and 2019, and whose p53 and Ki67 from the dissected material were pathologically studied and who underwent pelvic/paraaortic lymph dissection between the relevant dates. RESULTS: The study included 140 patients who met the inclusion criteria, 60% (n=84) of whom had endometrioid type endometrial carcinoma and 40% (n=56) had non-endometrioid type endometrial carcinoma. Estrogen and progesterone receptor positivity was significantly higher in the endometrioid type endometrial carcinoma group (p<0.001 and p<0.001, respectively). The non-endometrioid type endometrial carcinoma group had a high degree of positive staining (+3 and +4 staining) with p53 was 51.8%, while this rate was 11.9% in the endometrioid type endometrial carcinoma group. The non- endometrioid group also had a high degree of positive staining of Ki67 at 51.8%, whereas the endometrioid group had 25%. The total staining rate with p53 and Ki67 was significantly higher in the non-endometrioid type group (p<0.001 and p=0.001, respectively). The mean survival duration was less than six months in cases with high degree positive p53 [57.4±2.7, (52.1-62.8) vs 51.9±5.9, (41.8-61.9)] and the mean survival duration was less than eight months in cases with high degree positive Ki67 [59.6±2.9, (53.8-65.4) vs 51.6±4.3, (43.2-60.1)]. CONCLUSION: p53 and Ki67 can be new markers for the prediction of prognosis and duration in endometrial cancer. The results of this study pave the way for new studies: however, randomized controlled prospective and multi-center studies are needed for immunohistochemical measures to be used as a parameter.","PeriodicalId":87233,"journal":{"name":"Clinical obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive medicine","volume":"18 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73268439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: Retrospective study of patients underwent surgery for endometrial carcinoma in a single centre, a tertiary hospital that has a gynaecological oncology unit. Data were collected from patients undergoing minimally invasive surgery for endometrial carcinoma in the period between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2020. The sample was divided into two groups: Group A, made up of patients in whom a uterine manipulator was used during surgery, and Group B, made up of women in whom no manipulator was used. Results: We included 279 patients with minimally invasive approach (either laparoscopic surgery or robotic surgery). In 232 patients (Group A, 83,1%), a uterine manipulator, V-Care was used, while in 47 patients (Group B, 16.9%) the manipulator was not used. No differences were observed in oncological outcomes between the groups (Disease Free Survival [DFS] 39,1 months in Group A and 39,0 months in Group B). Conclusion: Our results confirm that the uterine manipulator can be used safely during surgery for endometrial carcinoma. *Correspondence to: Iñaki Lete, MD, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinical Management Unit, Araba University Hospital, José Atxotegi s/n. 01009 Vitoria, Spain, E-mail: luisignacio.letelasa@osakidetza.eus","PeriodicalId":87233,"journal":{"name":"Clinical obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive medicine","volume":"45 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88104643","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
