There were 1 589 males and 1 076 females, aged from 1 to 73 years, with an average age of (53.97 ± 11.33) years, in this study. The results showed that the rate of blood-free surgery in the hospital increased year by year,while the proportion of blood-used operation to total operations decreased every year. The ratio of plasma and platelets used in cardiac surgery decreased, while the cryoprecipitate ratio used in cardiac surgery increased. This study indicates that the transfusion medical level in cardiac surgery is improved continuously, and that the infusion of blood components has become more secure, efficient and rational.","PeriodicalId":87226,"journal":{"name":"Blood and genomics","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73972867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is highly recommended to screen alloantibodies before transfusion and pregnancy. This report applied the microcolum gel method to screen for available alloantibodies, enrolling 20,098 patients from January 2016 to December 2017 in the Xinjiang General Hospital. Seventy-two patients were found alloantibody-positive, at an overall positive rate of 0.35%. The distribution of alloantibody varied according to age, gender or treatment. The patients aged 70 plus and the patients admitted in the Department of Hematology and Department of Gynecology & Obstetrics had a higher incidence rate of alloantibodies. By using 10 screening cell panel systems, 9 types of alloantibodies including anti-D, anti-E, anti-e, anti-C, anti-c, anti-M, anti-s, anti-Fy and anti-Ce were identified. This study suggests that the transfusion of red blood cells(RBCs) and pregnancy are the main causes of alloantibodies.","PeriodicalId":87226,"journal":{"name":"Blood and genomics","volume":"73 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87009917","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Long recognized manifestations of genomic instability in myeloma at the cytogenetic level include abnormal chromosome numbers (aneuploidy) caused by trisomy of odd-numbered chromosomes; recurrent oncogene-activating chromosomal translocations that involve immunoglobulin loci;and large-scale amplifications, inversions, and insertions / deletions (indels). Catastrophic genetic rearrangements that either shatter and illegitimately reassemble a single chromosome (chromotripsis) or lead to disordered segmental rearrangements of multiple chromosomes (chromoplexy) also occur. Genomic instability at the nucleotide level results in base substitution mutations and small indels that affect both the coding and non-coding genome. Distinctive signatures of somatic mutations that can be attributed to defects in DNA repair pathways, the DNA damage response or aberrant activity of mutator genes including members of the APOBEC family have been identified. Here we review recent findings on genomic stability control in myeloma that are not only relevant for myeloma development and progression, but also underpin disease relapse and acquisition of drug resistance in patients with myeloma.","PeriodicalId":87226,"journal":{"name":"Blood and genomics","volume":"347 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88147619","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The errors such as these are suspected to have occurred when upon first and second-detection. Under the identical laboratory conditions, the results of re-detection of blood bag samples and rare type antigen samples, as well as re-collected samples from donor, and plasma diluted are not consistent with the original results. Here, 20 antigen erythrocytes were detected for blood bag samples and original samples, in which no incorrect blood was mistakenly administered or mislabeled. Samples taken under identical laboratory conditions were not found to have incorrect blood administered to a non-matched tube. The results showed nonlinear changes by HBsAg ELSIA after plasma dilution. The study suggests that the second-detection taken shortly after first detection is the most appropriate method to detect errors at the earliest time point. Blood bag samples are identical to those of the original antigen identification group, which means that the probability of the samples coming from the same donor is extremely highly. At same time, space and plasma diluted, re-detection can effectively exclude incorrect blood being added to a non-matched tube.","PeriodicalId":87226,"journal":{"name":"Blood and genomics","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76945841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such applications imply that they must be colloidally stable and do not interact with proteins in the blood or blood serum. A nanoparticle put into the blood will instantaneously be covered by a protein corona that compromises the function of the nanoparticle core, changes the effective size of the nanoparticle, and determines its biological fate. Strategies developed to gain control over nanoparticles in biological fluids, particular in blood, heavily rely on creating a hydrated polymer shell that sterically and osmotically prevents a protein corona from forming. In this tutorial review, we provide an over-view of factors that affect the formation of the protein corona in blood and how to prevent it forming. We focus on describing the latest advances in our understanding of how small core - shell nanoparticles (core diameter 4-20 nm in diameter) with a shell of densely grafted polymer chains, a so - called polymer brush, interact with proteins and cells in vitro . Such nanoparticles are among the most well - defined and well - characterized colloids used for biomedical applications, from which an improved understanding of how nanoparticle architecture influences their biological fate can be obtained in detail. of stickier but less abundant proteins lead to the creation of a hard corona. On the hard corona, a new soft corona can form in dynamic equilibrium with the pool of proteins in the blood.","PeriodicalId":87226,"journal":{"name":"Blood and genomics","volume":"191 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75157798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mechanism of the immune reaction initiated by SARS - CoV still remains unclear. Here we aimed to describe the genetic patterns of high - resolution HLA - A, - B, - C, - DRB1, and - DQB1, loci in recovered SARS patients from Beijing and examine the association between HLA genes and susceptibility or resistance to SARS. A total of 70 recovered Chinese Han SARS patients were recruited to donate convalescent plasma in 2003. HLA high - resolution typing was carried out using sequence based typing (SBT). Allele frequencies were calculated by direct counting, and were compared with the frequencies of HLA alleles of donors recruited by the China Marrow Donor Program between 2002 and 2015 using Fisher's exact test. Significance of association was defined according to the Bonferroni method for multiple comparisons. We observed 20, 35, 21, 25, and 17 alleles respectively at HLA - A, - B, - C, - DRB1, and - DQB1 loci among the 70 recovered patients. We identified 12 alleles (HLA - A*02:10, - A*02:93, - A*03:02, - B*08:01, - B*15:152, - B*37:01, - DRB1*10:01, - DRB1*11:03, - DRB1*14:10, - DRB1*14:12, - DRB1*15:02, and - DQB1*05:10) showing a nominal association with SARS ( P <0.05), but none remained significant after Bonferroni correction. The study suggests that high - resolution HLA alleles are unlikely to contribute significantly to the susceptibility or resistance to SARS - CoV infection in the northern Chinese population.","PeriodicalId":87226,"journal":{"name":"Blood and genomics","volume":"384 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78448867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

TEG values (R, K, Angle, MA and CI) were detected l, 3, and 7 days post trauma. Followup prognosis data were recorded among all patients and correlations between TEG changes and prognosis were assessed. The results revealed that the K and R volumes of the poor prognosis group were obviously higher than those of the good prognosis group at each time point; while the Angle, MA, and CI volumes of the poor prognosis group were relatively lower than those of the good prognosis group, and showed a little rising tendency. This study suggests that variables measured by TEG were closely associated with prognosis evaluation, and highlighted the dangers of coagulation disorder at early stage. TEG is of benefit in evaluating the function of coagulation in clinical emergency trauma patients.","PeriodicalId":87226,"journal":{"name":"Blood and genomics","volume":"82 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79364066","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
