Although phosphorus to creatinine ratio (Pi/Cr) has been proposed as surrogate of 24-h UPE, further validation is required. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the usefulness of Pi/Cr ratio at different day timing and spot urine samples throughout the day in the estimation of 24-h UPE. Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study in 21 healthy individuals with normal renal function. They were prompted to record dietary intake during three days. On the third day, they collected 24-hour urine. Blood samples were drawn the day after completion of urine collection. Spearman’s correlation test and the Bland-Altman method were used to evaluate agreement between different methods. Results: Phosphate intake, 24-h UPE and Pi/Cr ratio widely varied throughout the day (p<0.001). No significant correlation was observed between phosphate intake and 24-h UPE (p=0.858). Pi/Cr ratio in first morning urine was similar to the night urine collection (0.80±0.2 and 0.73±0.2 respectively; p=0.99). The lowest proportional dispersion observed using the Bland-Altman test were in the first morning urine void (-3.9%) and night urine spot (1.6%). Conclusion: The calculated phosphate intake and urinary phosphate excretion throughout the day are not correlated. Pi/Cr ratio in the first morning urine void and that collected during the night can be used interchangeably with 24-hour urine collection to estimate 24-h UPE. Ugr","doi":"10.15568/am.2019.808.or04","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15568/am.2019.808.or04","url":null,"abstract":"Aim: To analyze the degree of acquisition of scientific / technical competences in basic life support (BLS) by cooperants who work in different non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Method: It is an observational, descriptive and transversal study. A group of 95 cooperators from different NGOs without previous health training is established as target population. The selection was made by UGR solidaria that in turn was responsible for the administrative organization of the training process. A total of 19 dichotomous variables were measured, 8 related to basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPRR), 6 to airway obstruction (OVA) and 5 to automated external defibrillation (AED). The training was given by a group of health professionals, all of them qualified in advanced life support (SVA) and / or basic life support (BLS) by the National Plan of CPR (PNRCP). The parameters evaluated are those established at the international level by the European Resuscitation Council (ERC). The evaluation of these parameters was carried out by health professionals (independent auditors) different from those who participated as teachers in the training of the cooperators. Results: The degree of acquisition of competencies in BLS by the participant subjects in the study was over 75% in all cases, with 100% of the competences acquired in 6 of the 19 variables analyzed. Conclusions: According to the results obtained in this study, the participant subjects in the study had a high level of acquisition of scientific / technical skills in BLS, despite not having any previous health training of any kind. There are several pathologies that jeopardize the integrity of this tissue and, consequently, can cause terrible consequences with a dire prognosis. Substitute treatment is part of the therapy of this pathology, with the donor sclera graft being a biocompatible and biomimetic option to be evaluated. The donor sclera graft is an easily accessible tissue with good post-surgical results, so it is not only used in the field of scleral pathology, but also used for oculoplastic, glaucoma or retinal surgery. However, the danger of prion transmission or the supply deficit in some countries causes that, other tissues or surgical techniques supplant this tissue. Methods: The objectives of this study are to identify the sclerotic pathology susceptible of replacement therapy in the last 5 years in the university hospital of Granada, identify the methods used as a replacement therapy in this pathology and evaluate the practice of such therapy.
