Given that older subjects present more severe forms of COVID 19, even compromising their lives, these measures are more relevant among the elderly population. Methods: In the present study, 147 cases with SarsCov-2 infection identified in a nursing home during March and April 2020 were analyzed. Aims: To analyze cases with SarsCov-2 infection identified in a nursing home, as well as to describe the clinical presentation of symptoms and the evolution of the condition in these patients. The secondary objective is to demonstrate the importance of digestive symptoms in COVID-19. Results: In 71 patients (48.3%) data of COVID-19 infection were detected by PCR and/or rapid test for specific antibodies. 39.4% were asymptomatic. Of the positive patients, 72.1% were women and the mean age was 80.8 years (SD=16.7). The most frequent symptom was diarrhea (48.8%), followed by cough (41.9%) and fever (39.5%). Diarrhea was detected on the first day of illness in 90.4%. In 33.3% it was associated with other symptoms and in 16.6% it was isolated. The mean duration of the symptoms was 11.7 days. Hospital admission was required in 30.2% of patients. 16.2% died due to respiratory complications or sepsis. Conclusions: Gastrointestinal symptoms may be frequent in COVID-19 infection and may even be the first manifestation of the disease. This group of patients had a lower proportion of complications and case fatality than usual. However, the role of digestive symptoms in COVID-19 infection needs to be verified with larger studies.","PeriodicalId":86333,"journal":{"name":"Actualidad medica","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67208367","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methodology: Observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study based on a questionnaire applied, after the OSCE test, to students in their last year of Medicine and Physiotherapy degrees at the University of Cordoba. Results: 95 Medicine degree students and 31 Physiotherapy degree students participated. Medicine students highlight the assessment of the previous information, the organization of the test and the time they had to complete the different stations. On the other hand, Physiotherapy students are more satisfied with the fact that they have seen or performed the clinical skills demanded in the OSCE to a greater extent. The overall assessment given to the test by Medicine and Physiotherapy students was 7.53/10 and 6.13/10, respectively. Conclusion: The perception of students in the 6th year of Medicine and 4th year of Physiotherapy of the Faculty of Medicine and Nursing of the University of Cordoba on different aspects of the OSCE test is different. The opinion of the students, although quite redeemable in general, reveals to be a key piece to generate improvement plans in future editions of this, by working with the teaching and care managers so that the students increase their clinical training during the degree.","PeriodicalId":86333,"journal":{"name":"Actualidad medica","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67208433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After the study carried out with scientific resources, it has been verified that despite having in our legal system regulations for situations of pandemics and situations of urgent and extraordinary need, the regulations have not been sufficient and new regulations have had to be approved in order to mitigate the effects of this virus through the creation of royal decree-laws that would allow a fast response to the situations that were created by this situation. In addition, it can be affirmed that law and health are closely linked despite the fact that the right to health is not recognized as a fundamental right I our Spanish constitution. Finally, mention that COVID-19 has been an event that has overwhelmed the entire world and that all the governments of the world have tried to stop the contagion within their borders, but nevertheless, since it is an unknown and unprecedented virus, in the countries, managing it has been complicated and, focusing on Spain, the government has tried to deal with it in the best possible way, but in the face of such a situation with such heartbreaking and worrying data and with such a rapid response from the leaders, they have committed errors during management that should be taken into account for future pandemics.","PeriodicalId":86333,"journal":{"name":"Actualidad medica","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67207725","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: 130 patients were included, each of whom underwent a three-dimensional reconstruction of the colon from abdominal CT scans without obvious signs of pathology. Information corresponding to sex, age and body mass index was obtained from each patient, and morphometric data obtained from measurements taken at the pubic symphysis, superior and inferior mesenteric artery, hepatic angle, splenic angle, ileocecal junction and sigmoid-descending colon junction were considered. Results: Morphological analysis showed an important anatomical variability of the reconstructed colon. Statistical analysis showed significant differences in the measurements obtained when grouping subjects by sex, age (under 65 years vs over 65 years) and body mass index (normopese, overweight and obese). Conclusions: Colon anatomical variations can be studied with three-dimensional reconstructions from CT scans, indicating that sex, age and body mass index have a significant influence on such variability.","PeriodicalId":86333,"journal":{"name":"Actualidad medica","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67208077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A cross-sectional descriptive study by random selection with a margin of error of 7%, was designed on a sample of 131 teachers (98 men and 33 women). Participants answered a validated self-completed questionnaire divided into sociodemographic categories, sun exposure habits, and skin care knowledge. The findings suggest the poor skin care habits of physical education professionals even knowing the risk and dangers of exposure.
