The phytooestrogen was injected subcutaneously at a dose of 1 mg/day for 10 days. The decreased blood insulin level was observed after coumestrol treatment. Simultaneously phytooestrogen altered the insulin binding but the response of liver and erythrocytes was not identical. The maximal binding of receptor sites was diminished in both tissues. However its effect was more pronounced within the high affinity insulin receptor in the liver while, in erythrocytes, statistically significant changes were observed within the low affinity insulin receptors. These results suggest that although coumestrol alters the insulin binding in female rats, the response of different tissues should be analyzed separately.</p>","PeriodicalId":8381,"journal":{"name":"Archivum veterinarium Polonicum","volume":"34 3-4","pages":"267-73"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1994-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"19857602","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In 15 dogs the gland was frozen unifocally in the double cycle from the outside using the flat applicator. At different times over the period of 6 months after the cryodestruction procedure particular dogs were subjected to surgery in order to determine macro- and microscopic changes. Coagulative necrosis with the subsequent formation of the connective tissue scar was observed in the frozen tissues. Two weeks after the cryosurgery regenerative processes of the normal prostatic gland were noted. During the investigation period L type layed considerably more eggs and M type was heavier in body weight. Abdominal fat pad in L type quails was significantly higher than in M type ones. L type quails had lower serum T4 and T3 concentrations than M type ones and the liver T4 5'-monodeiodinase activity was higher in M type than in L type quails. Following TRH administration serum T4 and T3 concentrations increase was higher in L type quails than in M type ones. The results, advantages and disadvantages of diagnostic methods are demonstrated on an example of three methods of detection of staphylococcal enterotoxins in milk and milk products. 133 strains were investigated with the method of biotyping of Staphylococcus aureus strains. Four of their strains were included in biotype A, seven strains of S. aureus were not included in any biotype and the other strains belonged in biotypes C and E. This method can be used as an auxiliary method for evaluation of foods containing S. aureus bacteria. The agar-gel precipitation method of enterotoxin detection in isolated strains of Staphylococcus aureus has just restricted valiability. When examining 96 strains of S. aureus with this method, strains which were producing staphylococcal enterotoxins were isolated 17 times. The main disadvantage of this method is a fact that the result concerning the isolated strains need not be identical with the result of enterotoxin detection in food. Direct assays of staphylococcal enterotoxins in milk and milk products using an enzymoimmunological method (ELISA test) seem to be most promising, mainly due to their high sensitivity (0.0001-0.001 micrograms.ml-1) and other advantages.</p>","PeriodicalId":8381,"journal":{"name":"Archivum veterinarium Polonicum","volume":"34 1-2","pages":"69-74"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1994-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"19570355","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
